RE: To the pieces of shit downvoting my content

in #rant4 years ago (edited)

Hey Derrick,

First, I think you do exceptional investigative journalism and reporting on topics that are all too often ignored or purposefully omitted from mainstream publications. From your Epstein documentary, to the Finders cult, to your work on 5G and now on the COVID19 and the Great Reset and so much more. I especially appreciate your evidence based approach and also presenting solutions (ex: Freedom Cells) to some of our most pressing issues. You, Ryan and Whitney at TLAV have been doing critical and amazing work in the last few years. Thank you for all you do!

Second, it's unfortunate and frustrating that some in the Hive community do not see the benefit of your work. Particularly, since the reporting of @tlavagabond has been targeted and censored on YouTube for all kinds of false justifications.

I think too many are quick to judge and label people who ask uncomfortable questions about our reality and the direction society is heading. It's not as simple as 'right wing nut-job Trump supporters are anti-science and anti-vaccine'. There are valid points to be made and since corporate controlled media refuses to do any real journalism it's critical we have voices that do.

Currently, the technique is to characterize dissenters as lunatics and dangerous 'others' instead of doing your own research and coming to your own conclusions. (For clarity, there are extremists out there, who probably believe all kinds of things.) But to lump everyone together as anti-this and anti-that is simply lazy, careless and at times just plain ignorant.

The problem with downvoting is that it becomes personal no matter how judiciously those with power and influence believe they're behaving. I don't think I've ever seen a single comment from @curangel (or from the projects main curators and delegators) explaining the reasoning for the downvotes.

The main purpose of @curangel is to provide 10% ROI for those that delegate (lend) to the curation project and to find deserving content and support the authors. Their website also states that the delegated stake is to be used to fight "spam" and "abuse". I don't see your reporting as spam or abuse in any form. I imagine that those doing the downvoting are not actually reading your content and that the downvotes are because of some sort of prejudgement.

So let's put the questions to the @curangel top investors:

@pharesim
@meritocracy
@azircon
@investment02
@kingfadino
@bhuz
@lukestokes

What is your issue with @dbroze content?
What is the criteria that determines a downvote from @curangel?

Why does Hive seem to chase away so many content creators when the platform is struggling to attract new users?

Just to end on a personal note, I really value your work Derrick and hope that you do continue to post on Hive despite the downvotes. Thank you for sharing your insights with us. Happy New Year brother, stay strong!

Sort:

I didn't downvote you, but I was tagged so I'll respond also.

Hive downvotes are a very curious thing. I've written about them a number of times in the 4.5 years I've been part of the platform. The key to understand is this:

The pending rewards are not yours.

So many people get confused on this. They see $40 and think "Hurray! It's like YouTube paying me for my views!"

No. It's not like that at all. It's a fully democratic (some argue plutocratic) system of upvotes and downvotes which determine how the shared pool of reward resources will be distributed. I have much love for you, Derrick, and enjoyed meeting you at Anarchapulco. I don't agree with all your content, but I love how Hive gives you a platform to share it without ever being censored. You might get flagged and some platforms may hide your content requiring someone to click a link before they see it, but it's always there on the blockchain forever. That's the value here. Not the earnings. If you're desperate for funds, seek other forms of employment. If you're just upset about something you thought was yours and feel it was taken from you, then your expectations are not in alignment with how this system actually works. YouTube can give people money because they sell ads and make money off those views. That's not how this works. You get value through inflation which decreases everyone else's value. That's how this works. The tokens given to you are minted as inflation. The parts of the community most impacted by that (those who invest in the token and therefore have a larger amount of their resources inflated away in dollar terms than others) have the most say in how those rewards are distributed and they do that with upvotes and downvotes.

The money isn't yours until after the 7 day voting period and the payout completes.

Getting upset and taking things personally isn't the right approach here, in my opinion.

I didn't downvote you or your posts, but if I saw a post that was overvalued relative to others, I wouldn't hesitate to vote it down because that's like voting up every other post. We have to protect what we value. I value Hive and the Hive token purchasing power. If the story goes "any crap gets inflation rewards on Hive, what a joke" then the value of this whole network goes down for everyone. If you see Hive as just another network to get value out of, that won't be received well by many here.

That said...

I think it's toxic how many content creators have been chased away from Hive. Some of them did have real followings of people who would have come to support them here. Instead, they got flagged, ridiculed, and told to leave. I hope Hive becomes more inclusive and if people are getting huge payouts that don't correspond to the value they bring to the network with their posts then maybe the best approach is to explain how this all works and then downvote without any personal attack. People get upset mostly because of their own expectations that are not aligned with reality. Some get even more upset once they learn how it works and they feel doubly insecure for not knowing and leave angry anyway.

It's not personal. It's valuing the network.

Well said, lashing out over downvotes typically has the opposite effect. The entitlement mindset is just repulsive to many. I've seen more people leave after getting themselves all worked up in this way and garner little sympathy. As you said, most people who do lash out in such a way have a fundamental misunderstanding of how voting works. If you refuse to learn and take it in stride, maybe this isn't the place for you. It doesn't really matter who you are, or who you think you are. This is especially true for someone who just cross-posts here, and offers little in the way of engagement.

Are you fucking blind? I haven't posted anything in 2 months you dipshit. Clearly I want all the rewards for myself right? Figures you had to log into an alt account to type this. Coward.

How is that screenshot even relevant? That was about Splinterlands. You really had to fish for something didn't you.

Good advice in this song:

I'm sorry your life is so pathetic that you have nothing better to do than troll on a platform you are obviously not a fan of.

A little advice: Consider actually doing something productive and positive with your time, and perhaps you'll be less bitter and angry in general. It's rather sad that you feel the need to expend so much energy here. You're not even good at being anonymous.

Whether or not you choose to reply, I'm going to ignore you either way, so please consider this the final word on the matter. If you'd like to continue to waste your time that is up to you. I have better things to do.

Have a nice day.

I didn’t personally downvoted anything. But I was tagged so I will answer. @v4vapid you asked what is the issue with this content. Here is my opinion.

These are:

  1. Lie
  2. Conspiracy theory
  3. Pseudoscience

I don’t want a discussion on these facts. As you are entitled to whatever opinions you want. But if it comes to rewards and trending I believe the DV is justified. DV is not personal it is disagreement on reward.

Again I didn’t personally downvoted any of this. But you asked for my opinion and you got it.

If anyone here has problems with disagreement of rewards there are other alternatives available. Please feel free to use them.

If you like dbroze’s content feel free to upvote it. If you think it is worth more rewards please feel free to increase your stake and upvote. This is a DPOS chain. Your actions are stake weighted.

I also don’t see dbroze staking any hive which makes him not an investor to this platform. If he is going to sell every single hive we give him for rewards I don’t see any reason to be sympathetic to whatever cause he portrayed.

To Derek, may be you misunderstood how hive blockchain works. No rewards have been taken away from you. Rewards are not yours until the 7th day at payout. Before that it belongs to the common rewards pool. DV only sends part of that potential rewards back to the common pool. I don’t feel your rant above worth $14 where you mentioned a curse word to your readers. I don’t think that is preferable from a journalist. I see no issue on you publishing your content (I hope it doesn’t turn dangerous). Rewards you get are upto the stakeholders.

I hope I provided a detailed response so I won’t be discussing or responding to this matter any further.

Thanks for responding @azircon. Some clarity on how @curangel determines what to downvote is appreciated. So, from your comments you're guessing that the downvotes stem from lies, conspiracy theories and pseudoscience, but you're not sure.

Here is my opinion.
These are:
Lie
Conspiracy theory
Pseudoscience
I don’t want a discussion on these facts.

It would be helpful if someone could point to any examples of lies and pseudoscience. I read Derrick's work often and he sources his material from on the ground reporting, in person interviews, to government documents.

"I don't want a discussion on these facts". So, people that are not familiar with Derrick's work come to false conclusions about his positions and claim that it is pseudoscience and conspiracies theories but do not provide a shred of evidence in support of their view? But you cannot be bothered to discuss it? Okay.

I think those that downvote his work should at least have the courtesy of explaining why they downvote and what exactly they take issue with. People can disagree but to blanket all of his work (posts) in 60+ downvotes without comment or without providing a basis is lacking, to say the least.

I regularly support Derrick's work here on Hive but I don't blindly upvoted it and I don't upvote every post either - I actually take the time to read/watch it. It has value and with increasingly censored social media landscape of perspectives that do not conform to corporate/government narratives - it's even more valuable than ever.

I also don’t see dbroze staking any hive which makes him not an investor to this platform. If he is going to sell every single hive we give him for rewards I don’t see any reason to be sympathetic to whatever cause he portrayed.

This claim is false as @dbroze has almost 10k Hive staked. Actually, anyone can see from Derrick's wallet that the majority of his Hive is staked and half of that is delegated to the @abundance.tribe project.

I don't blame you for the downvotes, I'm just trying to understand how tolerance of diversity of perspective and opinion on a 'decentralized' platform is becoming a scarce resource.

If someone thinks “earth is flat” or “Vaccination is bad”.... or “Democrats drink dead children’s blood” ... there can’t be any discussion to be had on these. Am I making my personal opinion clear?

I am sorry. I didn't realize 10 K hive stake is substantial. My apologies. I stand corrected.

Wow... let me get this straight.

Just so there's no confusion.

You are saying that @dbroze makes posts concerning "flat earth", "Democrats drink dead children's blood" and "vaccination is bad"?

This is ridiculous.

Link your evidence, here and now.

I'll wait...

You are completely off-base.

The only thing here that is even remotely in the ballpark is that Derrick and other investigative journalists have demonstrated the extreme conflicts of interests between the vaccine industry and government agencies and actors.

And that new rushed experimental vaccines have had flawed testing, tested from private companies themselves, and could be potentially harmful.

Nowhere has Derrick said all vaccines are bad.

You advised Derrick against reporting 'dangerous' information. It seems infinitely more dangerous to dismiss inconvenient information as merely 'conspiracy theory' and labeling people without attempting to understand their research or what their reporting is really about.

I think this clearly shows that people here really have no idea on what Derrick's research is all about. If you believe that @dbroze actually promotes these things you're seriously mislead and have no idea what you're talking about.

who said anything about the earth being flat or the democrats? On the vaccines issue you clearly are uneducated.

Thank you for letting me know that I am UNEDUCATED. This will seriously help you thrive here in hive.

but you cant and no one can debunk the alleged "pseudoscience", just use the downvote to affect my work

And that is why I don't delegate to curangel, downvoting sucks...

Hive is stuck on the less for them is more for me mentality. It has wrecked Havoc on the price and user growth.

They thought Hive would become popular irregardless of the actions. Perhaps they would even be saved by "alt" season.

Dude, this is a case study of How Rome falls on the blockchain. This has to do with satoshi... Even Dan realized very early on he created a monster.

Please don't kill the messenger. Hive is pre-bitcoin pretending to be post.

I won't say the things that may bridge some disconnect as to not disrupt the natural experiment.

But what these people are becoming is very hard to watch. Please don't fend from their good grace. They will rip you to shreds.

The disconnect... OMG

they just try to get all pie (daily rewards) to the circle, well took em years but they made it.

Oh shut up.

@dbroze is an actual content creator compared to your shit.

Being a parrot isn’t worth much...
