If I go back the memory lane and think of things I have purchased from mine or my parents hard earned money, the best thing from which I got the million times return would be the Amazon Kindle which for somebody don't know is an ebook reader for glare-free reading experience.
I bought my kindle PaperWhiite for some 120$ around 5 months back. Before the purchase I was too much skeptical about whether it's a good idea to invest so much in this gadget which is useful for nothing more than reading books. Infact I could have purchased almost 100 books if not more for this amount. I was also not that avid reader and just developed that habit of casual reading over the year. I still with heavy heart placed the order and today I feel it was one of best decisions ever made.
Talking about its features, it is a size of a tab but gives u a feeling as if you are reading an actual paperback. It won't strain ur eyes either which u experience othereise while reading on the display of your other gadgets. It can store hundreds of books so there is no need to burden my bag with books while I am traveling.
Furthermore, after purchasing Kindle my reading habit has improved tremendously. With Kindle I need not wait for my book to be delivered which generally takes two to three days here in India. My first book was Famous cricketer Sachin Tendulkar's autobiography "Playing it my way" and it was only at the moment of finishing it that I realised that I have made the right decision owing this gadget as I could now easily finish the books pending since long in my wish list. Post that just over the period of five month, I have read around ten more books and gained so much knowledge that I can't explain.
For people still untouched by the beauty of reading , I recommend them to please visit a bookstore, pick up any book u may like and start reading it..And once you complete it pick the another one and finish. Pls don't giving lame excuses like you don't get time..
Why I just write this post I am still unsure. Maybe it's my sincere effort to push people to this world of reading and explaining them how owning the Kindle can help them achieve it.
I would love if you suggest me some interesting books to read. I would also love to connect with fellow readers here and have a chat..☺️
Indeed a neat piece of technology, though currently I can't afford one. Also, I read a lot of art books, and thus I need color reproductions - not sure whether Kindle can do that yet? Or even include any pictures?
But I think we'll see plenty more e-paper in the future.
Kindle is Amazon's version of the Apple tablet. I am a huge fan of the Kindle; and, can say YES! indeed it does beautiful color reproductions.
@bunny26 bought the paper white version; but, the Kindle HD Fire runs about $80. and usually offers discounts that brings it to ~$50.
Hope this helps!
Peace.
Well, that is news to me - some weeks ago I published a children's story, and had to redo the Kindle version because it could not even deal with unusual fonts, let alone illustrations. Maybe I was just doing something wrong. :-)
I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties with uploading@brianvds...
What a 'coincidence'. I, too penned a children's book using KDP; and, it turned out beautifully. Now, I have many generous YouTube tutorials which helped me along the way. But, a novice, as I am, was truly blessed to put together a very fun and energetic counting book for children.
One of these days, If God says the same, I will set up a Steemit account to promote it. Instantly, the Smart Tokens came to mind. It will be interesting to see how marketing products on Steemit, as on Etsy, et al, will help strengthen the platform.
Btw, please send the Amazon link for the KDP version. I'd love to take a look at it!
Peace.
Well, my currently in production book has some black and white illustrations, so I'll see how the KDP version comes out when I upload it (hopefully in a week or two). I'm having a great deal of trouble even with the print version; the CreateSpace software keeps on messing up the formatting!
The currently available book is here:

Or paperback version:

I used a somewhat unusual font that, instead of letters, makes little animal silhouettes, and while they printed perfectly nicely, in the Kindle version they just made ugly smears, so I had to remove them.
Thanks for the interest. :-)
Yes, formatting requires lots of patience, perseverance, and plenty of coffee.
I will give your book a look and offer feedback next week. I love the cover, and the topic reminds me of a book I read recently, so I know your book will keep my attention.
Thanks for sharing!
Peace.
Thanks for the kind feedback. Do note, mind you, that my book is a children's book that might not quite hold an adult's attention. :-)
Wow..it's damn cheap there.. I bought it in India ..it's bit pricy here..!!
Hmmm...I would think Amazon's prices are universal worldwide. Interesting. Thanks for sharing! Peace.
@brianvds..there are some higher end versions of Kindle which I believe support coloured images..I really wish you able to afford one soon.. Keep reading though ..that's more important..😊
Well, that's what the library is for; I always have my nose in a book, except when I'm writing some myself. :-)
