Starting my health kick this week and looking for some fresh smoothie recipes!

I've been feeling a bit flat over the last week and thinking that I need to start looking after myself better.

I will quite often skip breakfast and just grab a coffee bypassing what they call the most important meal of the day being breakfast.

When I was playing footy and keeping really active it was easy to help balance my food intake verses the amount of calories I was burning at training or at the gym.

I want to keep focused and in top shape and this is definitely area I can look at to help improve the start of my day.

At this point you're probably thinking, you said you wanted a recipe and yes I would really love some help with this if you can.

Reading online and what they have in books to me doesn't provide a true and accurate picture from a first person account.

So I'm looking to get feedback from a previous positive experience and or outcome you have had.

I have a nice blender that I have only used a few times when we have had people over and wanted to make cocktails before heading out to the city for drinks.

So rather than just do a trial and error based experiment, I wanted to see if anyone had any advice and or recipes they have used in the past.

Something that is low in sugar but full of the good stuff I should be having rather than a coffee!

I don't have any allergies and are open to any suggestions using milk or coconut water as the base for the drink.

Thanks for taking the time to have a read and any help would be great :)

I am not 100% sure on recipes however I know that my mum adds kale to her shakes for extra goodness. To me that sounds disgusting but hey, it may help.

Thanks Mate,

I'm open to any recommendations!

I guess some of the more unpleasant foods may have the most benefit lol

Looking online they call Kale a "Magic Food" from the earth!

Was going to say Kale for sure. I know a big problem with smoothies is to much fruit and to much sugar. I know my mom used to use water as the base and then you can add some fruit a bit of green, and then some sort of protein powder or whatever you put.

Yeah I have heard magic food and super food.

I'm not 100% sure, but my wife makes a great green smoothie and I am pretty sure it contains pineapple and peanut butter.

So maybe looking up green smothies with kale/spinach, pineapple, and peanut butter.

An interesting combination and you know what I bet it's tasty! Google here I come lol

good job i need to do the same i always have coffee for breakfast, and lunch, its bad! i like putting ginger in smoothies :)

Almond milk, avocado, banana, strawberries and ice. This is my favorite. Throw in a little spinach if you want. Just a little though so you don't throw off your flavors.

I used to work at a smoothie place and one of the popular breakfast ones consisted of milk, banana, oats, caffeine powder, honey, vanilla frozen yoghurt and ice. I've been told it was especially good when you add strawberries to it.

I personally liked the more fruity ones but as someone else said the problem with these is sugar content and drinking it makes it a lot easier to consume a lot more calories than you normally would have had you eaten it normally. Could argue it is still a better option than coffee though. I personally like drinking them still lol.

Thanks for the advice :)
