I've been interested in Turkish delight ever since a small boy, thanks to CS Lewis. When I finally ate some, I was a little disappointed (it was tasty, but I had high hopes...). The version I ate hate the dates like this does, but it was essentially a congealed cube of date jelly, with powdered sugar and nut crumbs as a coating.
It's interesting to see this version with coffee. I'll have to try it sometime.
Have you ever heard of Swedish coffee? I was watching an old Hitchcock movie-- Spellbound, when they referenced drinking coffee with egg in it. I looked it up and sure enough, it's a thing. Basically, you steep the coffee with the egg, then strain the whole thing. The egg is supposed to make it extra creamy and remove all hints of bitterness. Maybe you could try it and report your findings? (if you can get over the weird factor)
thankyou for your comment - mmm not sure of this one - sounds too far out for me.
