But Matthew 19:21 says:
Jesus said to him, if you have a desire to be complete, go, get money for your property, and give it to the poor, and you will have wealth in heaven, and come after me.
- And Jesus said to his disciples, Truly I say to you, it is hard for a man with much money to go into the kingdom of heaven.
- And again I say to you, It is simpler for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a man with much money to go into the kingdom of God.
Proverbs 23:4 - Take no care to get wealth; let there be an end to your desire for money.
Psalm 62:10 - If your wealth is increased, do not put your hopes on it.
These are just three passages, but in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, Jesus often references either how displeasing people with wealth are to God, or how the wealthy will not inherit God's kingdom.
It just seems to me that to inherit the riches and glory of heaven, we must live poor here on Earth.
