RE: The Gospel of JOHN

in #reliquary6 years ago

We see in this second chapter of John's record of the Gospel that the first miracle of Jesus was hinged on Obedience. Thank God for the Mary, who knew this and did pre-inform the servants to do whatever they are bidded by Christ Jesus.

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” v.5

It took obedience for the servants to painstakingly fill about 300 galons of water in the six water pots.

Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing), containing twenty or thirty gallons each. v.6

Just giving hear to the Master and taking to the two instructions he gave was enough to make the miracle

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. v.7 (emphasis mine)

Then He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter [of the banquet].” So they took it to him. v.8 (emphasis mine)

The servants did not question Jesus' instruction even when they seemed foolish to the carnal man. All they needed was to do what He said.

With this, I draw my lessons that If we will obey God for every instruction he bids us, then our miracle is sure. In just obeying 2 instructions, the taste of the "situation" changed. Every bitterness and wrong taste in your life can change to sweetness at a single response to God's insteruction in obedience.

And when the headwaiter tasted the water which had turned into wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew) he called the bridegroom.. v.9

This deserves to be shared on my blog for others to share. Thank you @reliquary for spicing this.
