A Big Guy - @lvj comes to a close.

Little John (Juancito)

done1.jpeg

I am not sure how to eulogize this man, but nobody else will. He was a friend of sorts. He had a hand up but ended up on the street again. Then the hive community all pulled for him just after this picture was taken and got to know him via @lvj - The life of John (la vida de Juancito) here on the platform.

John had both a tablet and a smartphone when he started posting. I was in the process of teaching him to fish so he could eat for a lifetime. I went to deliver his $10,000 pesos that he had earned for the week. I went to give it to him and he told me that his phone was snatched from his hand, stolen. I handed him the money, trying to cheer him up, and told him to continue posting and commenting using the Android tablet. He could have bought a new phone if he wanted one. He had enough money.

He stopped posting and never went back to it. He had a box full of cash that he had earned which was administered by a saint of a man , Jorge, who manages an apartment building close to the sidewalk where John slept. Jorge is pictured here, the man in the middle.

done2.jpeg

I went back a couple of times after that to deliver his money, but he had cycled into hopelessness and you cannot move John. He was strong willed, a bit childlike too but with his Shrek like physique. Something tells me he did not fully realize how far he had come.

I told him I would be back when the price of his coins (Steem at the time) was up. We called his stake his "retirement payout." Steem was at ten cents the last time I saw him. It was hardly worth selling.

Over time I powered down his stake and waited. The price jump came last Friday. I cashed out the balance he had on Steemit at 0.77 cents - approx. $600.00 in dollars. I ran downtown to trade the dollars into something spendable locally. There I was, driving around the park where he went during the daytime. Then to the building that Jorge manages. I didn't see Juancito.

Jorge's wife was there and I knocked on the glass door. She opened it and let me in. i said, "I have John's retirement money. It's $85,000." She looked at me and told me that John had passed away late in 2020. I didn't know what to say. As she explained it, Jorge had gone out to talk to him the in the evening when he went to take out the garbage. Juan was fine. The next morning he was unresponsive.

Juancito has no family that can be found. I left the money with Jorge. Little John was the loudest tenant with the most complaints and expectations of all who lived there, and he lived outside the building. Jorge had fed him, bandaged him, and called the ambulance when John was sick. He also held John's phone, tablet, documents and other items of importance, including the money he made here. Jorge deserves the money, and I could not keep it. It's about three month's rent for your average apartment.

Juan is in my thoughts and prayers and I know he is happy now. I hope those of you who read about his life here on my blog would take a moment as well.

Spanish -by translator-

No sabía qué decir.

I will be powering down @lvj here on Hive. If anyone has an interesting way to give away his balance, maybe comment about it. I think we have thirteen weeks to figure something out.

Voy a power down @lvj aquí en Hive.

Hey @keys-defender, here is a little bit of BEER from @sandymeyer for you. Enjoy it!

Well thanks for the alert, I'm not sure what exactly is happening but will check and remove any authorizations that may be using my downvote. If it continues I will change Keys.

This is a pretty twisted perspective of the post reward pool. You seem quite threatening in your tone in the comments as well and I don't take kindly to people with stake wanting to use downvotes to scare others because they feel the stuff you upvote is overrewarded. Will try my best to counter your retaliative downvotes. Downvotes don't hinder free speech, that's nonsense.

Downvote are a legitimate tool to be used to disagree, adjust rewards, fight abuse etc.. AND rewards are NOT final until payout! You are promised nothing until that payout actually goes through, everything else is just an estimate at best.

People have the right to downvote for what ever reason they bloody well like. Why? Because there are no rules attached to downvotes. Only subjective opinionated morals people like to push around. If people don't like to use downvotes. that's fine power to them but don't go bitching at the person who does use there downvotes cause they have every right to do so.

Until rules around downvotes are somehow build into the CODE of hive, all you are doing here is creating a toxic retaliation culture around downvoting... AGAIN... We got rid of that way of thinking almost.. now people are bringing it back because they somehow think the PENDING REWARDS are a god damn promise and losing any to downvotes equats to fucking stealing...

FFS..

I watch my downvotes pretty close, I follow most of the downvoters, abuse mitigation is a thankless task, when those early people that handled this for the rest of us get fed up with the thanklessness, we will see if you are right.
Maybe spamming and dumping to sats is the way to go.

Until that proves to be the case, perhaps you should continue to help shape the consensus around what gets downvoted, eh?
Welcome to the party.

Are you (@)done? Finally.

Enjoy the spaminator's downvotes

If I am part of a downvote trail that downvotes original posts because they are shitty, then I am proud to be a part of it.

Hi, I would be interested in a sollution.

I never manual downvote and only follow @keys-defender as he is doing a great job in keeping people from geting their keys stolen.

If there is a script I can run to undo the undeserved downvotes I will be happy to do so (or at least try, I am not a coding dude)

If this situation does not calm I will stop following this trail.

Cheers for youre work and appreciate the time you spend to do this.

I don't believe I started those downvotes. I rarely manually downvote and mostly follow the trail of an anti-abuse group. If he or others accounts that he complains about got downvoted, it's likely for a good reason. I also see that he is on @spaminator's blacklist.
That being said, obviously you're free to not follow my trail.
Take care

It’s past time to leave it. It’s over 50% legit users being wrongfully downvoted

If these people were only reducing large rewards, I would be fine with it.

You should know that the posts you seem to talk about that were indeed downvoted close to 0 (which I personally don't agree with either) are posts that were sharing their rewards with a project that engages in self-voting by having indirectly forcing their community members to give them half of the rewards back through beneficiaries in order of receiving their votes: https://peakd.com/@eliorrios/posts, if you look at other accounts posted in said community that aren't sharing 50% of their rewards with them they aren't getting downvoted.

As for the other posts it seems none were downvoted as heavily, just some rewards skimmed off as they were overrewarded for the effort placed onto the content.

I see you are against the project hope community. I know nothing about it but will watch for those posting to it. If they are paying for votes, I will pull my support for them.

One of the biggest problem with Project Hope, is majority of it is either low quality spun content from the internet, or just a pure farming operation. There is little engagement, little interaction within or outside the community, other than saying, "Oh this post of your is good". Most accounts are on powerdown. If you are an investor, you will cringe at the operation. It will literally feel that your hive is being taken from you and sold at the market everyday. There is no care, and if someone tries to engage we get a lecture on poverty.

I have nothing against PH community and I tried several times to have a simple conversation, but typically I don't get anywhere.

Point is if you can get $40, for posting 1 or 2 random pictures, wither yours or from the internet and type 300-400 words of random stuff; why would you care to do a better job? In real life, in many countries, I can get a professional writer for $40/day, which will work 2-4 hours on anything I like them to write. Many people on hive do not do that.

Your response, as well as, Acidyo's seems to be recurring but extremely important. It hints at efforts you guys have made over very a long time. And clears up a lot of questions. Thank you for explaining further.

I don't know why I'm included in this.

If it's because of a delegation, you're welcome to lease HP as well. Other than a couple friends whom I've onboarded, most of my delegations are leases.

I typically don't downvote, unless it's really bad.

My curation trails are only for @cervantes and @project.hope . The rest is manual curation for good content. You're likely hurting, and inciting others to harm, more good people than you're helping.

The only flaw in your plan is that most people on Hive have alt accounts. It's a simple matter to move resources and keep on trucking, should your crusade become obnoxious.

I think you'd be better off putting your energy into growing the community rather than fighting a turf war. At the very least, refine your targeting system to stop annoying people. Otherwise, you're just like whomever you claim to be fighting.

If I were more cynical, I would think the same person is running both sides of the turf war in order to maximize downvotes. If you can get a group of people on one side and a group of people on the other to all downvote each other, you and your friends can work your real accounts unimpeded and maximizing the rewards, while the rest are losing reputation, time, and vote resources.

Forgive me for being skeptical of your motives. I've been around long enough to be wary of people "trying to help". I'd rather you just leave me, and the people I help with my votes, alone.

That's it I'm out, no more downvotes from me, I quit the downvote trail to @keys-defender for now.

I tryed to run the script to undo the damage, but I am not a code dude so sadly I could not manage to do this.

As I told you defire no hard feelings, have a nice day 🍻🤠

It’s fucked

Downvoting is way overused. U guys are ruining the platform and turning off newbies.

Can u please explain why u keep downvoting this account?

@done u literally are ruining multiple accounts total rewards. They are good standing accounts

Saludos!

hi @done, I haven't listened to Little John in a very long time. is he healthy, and all right? The last time I read her post, at that time she was cutting her hair. I really hope that @lvj Little John and you are doing well there.

What things has life @done but you played an important role in his life, a big hug.

I am so sad reading this, you are an angel sent to him but he was in a hurry to live the earth. Thanks for all you did, may his soul find peace.

#rip

Very sad this news @done, qepd in a certain way we met him through your effort to get him off the streets, he did not know any other means despite the effort you made, I think you gave a hand to a friend. I'm sure you will find someone else who will put you in your way to help. We raise a prayer for the soul of Juancito, it is not too much to ask for him. #rip

Abrazos y bendiciones.

A very touching story @done, but perhaps on the astral plane it was the opposite.... You gave all your support to transform a sad reality, maybe Juancito was missing a gesture of nobility and charity to close the last link of his earthly life and return with peace to his heavenly home.
I am sure that there is still a long way to go, the Universe will send you signs with similar stories and with the same empathy you will extend your hand to help the stranger as if he were your brother... when we are in perfect "synchronicity" we understand that "we are ALL on the same thread".
Hugs and blessings.

Welcome to doing your duty,...

I am not paying anybody. I miss APPICS. You were wrong about Hive @done.

I get downvoted on all my post which gets upvoted by ranchorelaxo because that's a big vote, and when I question I get a flimsy response that they are skimming the rewards as they feel I get highly paid, and then the same people who downvotes me goes and gives bigger votes to their friends and inner circles and they earn may be 3 times more then me, but not even a single down vote for them. All in the name of decentralization. I have given up as I feel they are a drain out for me. So I have asked rancho also to not vote my post any more because I just want to keep out of this shit.

You were a hero in Juancito's life. You are like few others, I admire you for the noble heart that you have. Blessings @done❤️

Welcome to August @done

Hey Lou! How are you doing? How is life in the South?

I got sucked into a vortex for the past year and a half myself, finally dragging my arse out of it. Kept trying to dip.my toes back in here then getting swept away by strong but foolish currents. Finally on solid ground again in my soul :)

I know this publication has been around for a long time but I really like reading old posts and I am very moved by your story. the consolation is that Juancito is in a better place .. greetings @done

How not to remember Juancito, Greetings @done, Waiting for instructions to the discord that is in the description of my blog to start the new learning, corrections and delegations of your Venezuelan group guided by me and formed thanks to your support. We are many Grateful for your support and teachings since the beginning of this social network, before and after the fork.

Ohw... that's the reason why i didn't see Juan for a coulpe of months..

But i know he is happy now, because it's all happen with a porpose.

Wow, what a sad story my friend, unfortunately there are many Juancitos and nobody helps them, feel lucky to have been able to help them, I loved your story.

hello how are you friends @done . I thank you for the support on my post

Hello dear @done:

I am very sorry that Juancito has disappeared from this land, perhaps his body endured such extreme conditions and the pandemic and the entire emotional situation surely affected him a lot.

I hope that a good destination can be given to that money, it reminds me a lot of the support I gave to a person in my area who was in similar conditions and who also died earlier this year.

Hopefully he are resting wherever he are.

I think that a good initiative is to donate that money to any organization that helps people in need on these platforms, and it seems to me that it should be put to a vote to choose the community or organization that will receive that support.

Thank you for supporting these types of people and doing this humanitarian work @done you are an excellent human being.

What is the point of flagging my comments, which are mostly encouragement for original musicians? Why would you be encouraging others to flag me? I'm not sure of your motivations for putting me on a list.
