Please supply evidence that NATO is re-arming itself in any quantatively relevant, timely or meaningful way.
Russia is now producing 1500 new tanks a year (5x as many as NATOs current European inventory) and equivalently large numbers of other military equipment. It is out producing The West 10x in artillery and NATO has very limited supplies left in many key areas. Russia has almost 800,000 men ready for action in the Ukraine theatre and is getting over 100k volunteers a year.
What is NATO or the US doing to match this immense military build up?
UK cutting combat forces ever further.
Small budget increases in some EU countries.
Contracts for new equipment in 2028!
1.5x increases in artillery production when 20x increases are needed.
NATO currently has a "Ready Reaction Force" of 40,000 men that is distinctly unready, lacking key equipment and training in high intensity warfare and is spread all over Europe.
NATO is talking about increasing this phantom force to 300,000. But where will the equipment come from? Where will the highly trained aggressive and competent combat soldiers come from?
It is a complete fantasy.
NATO has miniscule forces compared to what are battling in Ukraine (on both sides) and its vaunted tanks, air defence and armoured vehicles have utterly failed in combat. The Ukrainians themselves say that their old Soviet equipment is better.
The fact is that the Ukrainians are far better combat soldiers, with far more combat experience than anything NATO Europe has. They should be giving NATO training, not the other way around.
But despite their bravery, aggression and combat experience and the latest Western weapons, they got completely destroyed by the Russians in the recent counteroffensive. They have lost 30-50% of their offensive combat strength in 2 weeks.
If one is truly objective about this, as I am and you are not, you will see this is the shocking truth.
I have been studying NATO force levels for a decade (in comparison to Israel, which has maintained large heavy combat forces including tank forces 5x the size of European NATO). See my post from 5 years ago
So I have known how weak NATO is for a long time before this war. Russia too was relatively weak compared to previous times, but this has been changing very rapidly.
