Thanks. I'll have many more. To be fair, Shaq said he was joking, but there are others who are not. And to answer your question, no, they don't know those things, or pretend not to because it doesn't confirm their bias.
Ironically, one of the 'fathers' of flat earth, a guy named Samuel Rowbotham, back in the late 1800's, did an 'experiment' on the Bedford Canal where he sighted a ship's sail on the river at 6 miles and declared the earth flat. He was seeing this due to refraction.
Someone though Rowbotham's experiment was definitive and put up a bet for anyone to beat Rowbotham. So a surveyor took him up on the challenge, used a theodolite instead of a spyglass, and put up sights along the river at a height that would eliminate refraction, and voila, he proved the curvature.
However, literally over 100 years later, modern day flat earthers still do their experiments in exactly the same way as Rowbotham, and declare the earth is flat
They call refraction an invention by freemasons designed to hide the flat earth from us, and that it doesn't actually exist.
Yeah, they are that bad. And their numbers are growing frighteningly.
