You got a surprising lack of resistance in the comments here! When I asked for a debate on here I got HUDNREDS of comments from dozens of angry flat earthers. None of them finished their arguments though because I annihilated them at every turn while remaining civil and polite like this post =D
You're welcome to help me out here anytime. I'd like to make sure anyone who has not gone full retard yet is at least getting some facts to temper the bad info from flat earthers.
I appreciate the help and I'm trying to 'reward' anyone who takes them on.
You might like the Hitler video I just did. Hilarious. I don't think I'll put it on a Steemit post, as it's a bit too 'inside joke' level funny. So probably not too many people would get it all that much. But I was laughing my ass of making it.

This flat earth debacle is really annoying me, lately some people I know personally keep bothering me with it. I stumbled upon it a few years back and found it fascinating as a thought-experiment to test your critical thinking. And teased some of my friends with it. Now that it is getting popular, it seems like it's chasing me.
I like conspiracy theories and question the world I live in, remain critical and skeptical at all times, but this is spinning out of control. Even my sister is losing it...
I studied optics and always had an interest in astronomy. I'm not an expert in astronomy/physics but am somewhat the most knowledgeable about it among my friends and family. Where I could fascinate them with the theories of black holes or the explanation of eclipses, some of them now get angry and try to convince me it's all a scam, and I'm brainwashed...
It's sad to see this rise in anti-science mentality, mostly among people who can't even solve a simple equation. I wouldn't bother trying to convince people who dismiss or distrust math, but it's hard when you really care about them...
So thanks to you for taking it upon you to debunk this.
I hope it helps...
Thanks. Yes, my delving into this topic has been extremely enlightening and educational for me, in more ways than one. It's very easy to disprove the flat earth argument, but they literally cannot listen to reason or even play by their own rules of performing simple experiments like this themselves. ANYTHING that will disprove their theory, they just simply reject it.
Here is the ridiculous thing one women had to say when she showed a video of the sun changing in size, and I showed her that you need a solar filter.
It's AMAZING the mental gyrations they will go through to reject ANYTHING that does not fit their world view. I'll be doing a piece soon on the fact that one of the mantras of the flat earth community is that the earth doesn't spin and no one has ever measured it.
Well, the irony is that the tecchology is SO advanced to measure it, that they use microprocessors printed onto circuit boards that are inside of phones and gaming controllers like Wii, that use the Coriolis force measurements for more realistic gaming and to measure your activity! And he bigger irony, to prevent rollovers in cars! Maybe we should take away all of the Mems Gyros from flat earthers, since it's 'scientism'.
The flat earthers bother me very much.
It seems that a certain anti science trend started a while ago, and has infested large portions of the internet with this idea that science and rational inquiry are some kind of scam.
This would be harmless nonsense if it was not the same people promoting anti-vaccine myths.
Of course, they would just explain that sky is just a projection on a very very very high resolution dome screen.
Thanks for the article.

This is a great post and should embarrass Shaquille O'Neal, one of the most famous Flat Earthers. Do they not understand how gravity actually works? Do they not understand that atmosphere can also bend and refract light?
I just do not understand how they get to where they are.
I am still waiting to see photographs of the edge of the earth.
Thanks for posting this.
adding it to my arsenal.
Just my two STEEMS Worth.
Thanks. I'll have many more. To be fair, Shaq said he was joking, but there are others who are not. And to answer your question, no, they don't know those things, or pretend not to because it doesn't confirm their bias.
Ironically, one of the 'fathers' of flat earth, a guy named Samuel Rowbotham, back in the late 1800's, did an 'experiment' on the Bedford Canal where he sighted a ship's sail on the river at 6 miles and declared the earth flat. He was seeing this due to refraction.
Someone though Rowbotham's experiment was definitive and put up a bet for anyone to beat Rowbotham. So a surveyor took him up on the challenge, used a theodolite instead of a spyglass, and put up sights along the river at a height that would eliminate refraction, and voila, he proved the curvature.
However, literally over 100 years later, modern day flat earthers still do their experiments in exactly the same way as Rowbotham, and declare the earth is flat
They call refraction an invention by freemasons designed to hide the flat earth from us, and that it doesn't actually exist.
Yeah, they are that bad. And their numbers are growing frighteningly.

Camera accessory destroys flat earthers. LOL.
Not that it takes much to do that... :)
I love it.
