Yes! You make some very good points! Unfortunately, the governments of the world, when they purchase wind turbines, insist on sticking to this outdated and inefficient design. I will admit that I don't know the numbers off the top of my head, but a far better option is the VAWT (Vertical Axis Wind Turbine) which to begin with, eliminates or massively reduces the need for an enormous base. The housing for the generator itself doubles as the base, at or just below ground level. The shaft emerges from this vertically, with the blade assembly... Hang on, it's almost 1:30 am. I will post a response briefly addressing the advantages of a VAWT design over a HAWT (Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine) which is the type you have addressed, and see if I can figure out how to tag you in it... Still a bit new to this
Yes. When I was researching this article there were many designs.
I chose the horizontal type because they are what most people are familiar with.
