Hello, this is borg123. This week I recorded a chorale prelude by J. S. Bach "Erbarm' dich, o herre Gott". It's a captivating chorale with such profound emotions and yet put so simply - a melody and an accompaniment (well, sort of) which I reckon would be quite unusual in Bach's time unless it was originally written as a continuo.
As for the setting of the recording, I tried to show my pedalboard from PedaMidiKit which are a fantastic addition to my GrandOrgue set-up. Hope You enjoy the performance!
A possible inspiration for this piece was Johann Kuhnau's "Il tremor degl'Israeli". Kuhnau was Bach's predecessor in the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, so it's quite possible Bach was familiar with this piece. Look at the score here: http://partitura.org/index.php/bach-and-kuhnau-erbarm-dich-mein-bwv-721-and-il-tremore-deglisraliti/
Anyway, nice performance, though the solo was a bit thin to my ears.
Thank You for Your comment on my registration and this interesting piece of information! Kuhnau's piece is truly very similar to BWV 721, but I have to agree with You that the emotional depth in BWV 721 is felt much more than in Kuhnau's.
