CREATING SPACE IN MY CREATIVE SPACE

Pausing in the middle of things to take a mirror portrait

I'm one of those people that can't function properly in a disorderly space. I am easily distracted, so I need as much order as possible to focus. I envy those people that can listen to music with lyrics and still write at the same time. I can only do it to instrumental classical music or jazz.

If my workspace is disorderly, I'll spend the day moving things around instead of actually working. Epic waste of time. That's what I have spent most of today doing - moving things around. I've changed the layout of my workspace yet again. I changed it a month ago to make it easier to make videos, which has had a positive impact on my video consistency. However, it's created a pretty messy space with my desk bang in the middle of the room.

I've returned the desk to where it used to be, and moved other things around so as to separate my video making space from my actual desk area. It feels a lot more airy and orderly, for now.

Another thing it gives me is room in the centre for exercises like pushups and sit-ups. I tried doing them this morning and couldn't believe har difficult they were to do. This is someone that used to push out 50 reps with no issue. They body truly is a use it or lose it proposition.

Peace & Love,

Adé

Use it or lose it - I definitely never used it!

I totally get your distraction free approach, to maximise physical space and mental space to be creative.

I’m not sure this is completely relevant; but when it comes to distractions... —->

😆

I definitely never used it!

Hahahaha. I know how you feel. There are some muscles that I just never used either. Even when I was at the top of my athletic abilities, I couldn't cycle to save my life. I'd be knackered within the first 3 minutes of being on one. I couldn't believe how other people were doing it so easily hehe

OMG this is a masterpiece!

We’re the same thing, I can’t listen to music and think or write. But I love music because it energize me.

I think when its comes to arranging things and making space. I guess I’m a perfectionist. Although, I don’t have a workspace yet (other than my bed and large floor area). I already envisaged what my workspace will look like.

Well done brother, get your body & willpower to push back soon 💪🏽

You must be destined for great things. Most content creators (including the ones now making millions on YouTube) started from their room and bed. :)

Thanks bro.

I should frame this because God definitely hear our words. Thank you brother. I will keep at it.

Some say a tidy desk is a sign of a sick mind ;) That said, anything that gets in the way of getting things done hampers your progress and creates stress.

Recently I have been doing pushups as recommended by @normie.fitness. Actually getting my chest to the floor makes them a lot harder, but I would hope they have more effect. I've been doing more regular strength exercises recently and I think they have done me some good.

Some say a tidy desk is a sign of a sick mind ;)

Hahaha. Hmm there's a little truth in that for sure :)

I'll go check out @normie.fitness to see if I can pick up any pointers. I've formed 3 routines now under 3 categories; strength workout, flexibility & mobility, and relaxation (breathing exercises and sleep). I'm not usually the type that does these things haha, especially the relaxation one.. but it's shocking how rusty my body has become.

I put my back out last week, so I am keen to strengthen my back muscles. I'm keen to get back to my running, if only to have something to post about :)

I work well, think well and produce well in calm environment. That is while I stay alone to work. Body adapt to what we consistently do. I used to go 1000 time skipping. I stopped for 2 weeks and it becomes difficult to do.

Yeah that's the body for you. You take a long break and your body starts to change.

Finding the motivation to be creative in the current climate ain't easy, i feel like I legit just coasting and hoping for better days, keeping my head down and staying out of trouble, putting to work as much time and capital as I can, lol I don't know what else to do

keeping my head down and staying out of trouble,

I'm afraid this isn't enough bro. I've seen trouble going from door to door, knocking, and looking for people 😅

I’m like that too for listening to music. I can’t multitask. But I can tolerate mess. I do agree I am bad at finishing what I start cos I get distracted. There are times when Im focused I can be fully 100% and nothing can distract me but it has to be something I really enjoy or am engrossed by.

but it has to be something I really enjoy or am engrossed by.

I think that's the key right there. My reading difficulties almost vanish when I find something I'm really really into.

Maybe your 'mess' is really organised chaos, so it's fine :)

That’s true, I do know exactly where everything is even in the messy state of my table or room haha..
