Since I've started working on the outside skirts of the city I have had the opportunity to see places I hadn;t seen in the 5 years I've been here. Here's some interesting ones.
What catches my attention to this sign, which isn't really all that badly translated, is that there is no water near here. The seaside is a good 15 mins away at least. The spot there isn't really suitable for fish in either. This where the public from my job drops me off and I jump in a taxi. Where the school is too far out to hail a cab and I don't use Didi (China Uber) so I save a few bucks on the bus.
Illegal emigration, fishing beyond boundary and smuggling should be firmly counteracted.
I can only imagine that this sign, being built in 2006, is a left over from when when this entire area was off limits to foreigners. Lv Shun has a strong military presence, such as a main hub for their Navy. Today, anyone can go there but it doesn't really have anything to see or do except for an old Japanese prison that is now a museum. Maybe I will check it out one day now that it's actually closer than my home.
So in the map you can see where I work how it's in the hills, where the bus takes me and also where Lv Shun is located. Somewhere in those hills is a cherry farm that attracts thousands of people in the spring who want to picnic and take photos of the blossoms, a Japanese tradition also, maybe his plantation was put during the war. I have been to that and I will post that another time.
Anyways. That's my day. Not too bad eh.
Not too bad if you didn't get caught fishing.
The odd thing is, for years people have told there are no laws for anyone fishing from shore or as a hobby in a boat. Commercial laws yes, but anyone can fish and keep anything they catch in the sea without a licence, unlike North America. Also no restrictions on sizes or what's in season. In Canada we are limited to the amount, size and season, even our methods are controlled, on top of the licence which really is just a tax and you get card to keep with you. I actually haveone. hhmmm, a post is being inspired. lol
Is that a time limit license like annual?
You always have something interesting to share! After looking at the map there is a lot of seashore where you live. Are there any swimmable beaches?
There a couple beaches that get some use but they're very sandy but mostly small round pebbles. I do see a lot of people foraging during low tide for snails and claims seaweed. I haven't jumped in, just the ankles. It's not very clear and probably more polluted then they let on so I stay out. I hear out on the small islands they have some good swimming.
Yea most places in China don't feel too swim worthy. The only place I actually consider swimming is in Hainan. But if there are island further out it might be quite clean and nice!
your post is very very nice.....i like this post/// thanks
thanks
It seems to me, that living in China must be full of all manner of mirthful moments.
It is in many ways.
I've never been to Asia, regretfully, but I always seem to get on really well with people from there. Maybe one day... here's hoping :)
Lots of jobs teaching English all over asia. It's well worth it you want to really feel what it's like. If you're interested I can point you in the right directions. ^^
Greet Post
I always respect your ideas about this platform....
Waw, awesome!
Indeed. Illegal immigration is illegal and our borders need to be secure.
