ANZAC silver - Some of my pirate treasure

If you have faith in our leaders of commerce, don't buy gold. If you do not have faith in them, maybe you should buy gold or silver - Robert Kiyosaki

It seems to be a thing to show one's silver on steemit so I thought I'd join in. Most of my silver is quite plain, coins mainly, but I also have some bars. I often joke about getting it all out of the safe, spreading it on the floor and rolling in it but I don't really....Or do I? :) Anyway, I feel good about my little pirate treasure and have worked hard to put it together adding to it when I can which is when finances permit. It's not really that often however my wife and I work pretty hard and are not ones to waste money so occasionally I have the ability to pick up some more treasure when we have a few bucks to spare.

Here's one I secured a little while ago and proudly added to my treasure chest. (No, I don't really have a treasure chest but want one!). The coin is an ANZAC coin. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps which was formed back in World War One and saw service, most notably, in the ill-fated Gallipoli campaign.

To be honest I stack silver for practical reasons and rarely go for decorated or special coins and I prefer bars actually however occasionally I get lured into something a little different like these coins, or even a Star Wars one which @o07 has secured for me (Eager to get that one!). I'm sure I'll pay a premium for it but couldn't resist the cool factor!

Anyway, I have a few of these decorated coins. I'm not sure if they'd have a lesser value or not due to their decoration and to be honest don't really care. I like the colour on the coin actually, and the fact its themed as such. I'm always on the look out for silver and when something like this pops up I can't generally resist.

Sort:

I collect silver in the form of coin roll hunting. Its a free way to obtain silver.

By the way I am brand new to Steemit. Came over from facebook after the censorship battles. Preparedness and politics are my thing!!!

Good to have you on board mate! I got Zuckerberg out of my life a while back and haven't looked back.

Thanks for checking out my blog. I write about lots of things including preparedness occasionally. Guns too. It's a tough time to get onto steemit right now but through good content and engaging with other users you'll carve out a niche and at the bare minimum have some fun.

I suggest you check out some blogs. Don't worry too much about the NEW tab though. if you find a user you like see who they follow and check them out as well. It's a good way to find people. The image below shows how you can see the FEED of another user. See what they see in their feed I mean. Simply replace my user name with that of another user with the /feed after it and you'll see their feed. You can check out who they follow from there. Heaps easier that way.

I'll give you a follow and see how you go. Good luck @survivecollapse

That is a really cool looking coin! Please make sure you do a post about the Star Wars one, I bet that is definitely going to have a massive cool factor. Can't wait to see it!

I will for sure.

I think you have craze for coins. You should gold coins too sir.

I'd have to sell off my left nut to be able to afford a gold one!

I see. The gold coins are far expensive.

This is cool. I collect coins too but I doubt if I have a silver coin among them. I collect for the age though, the older the coin, the more orgasmic I feel. Lol.

That army corps coin is cool. I love the colour.

the older the coin, the more orgasmic I feel. Lol.

This line made me laugh! :)

😂 it's an awesome feeling to see a coin minted ages ago. I don't have any really old coins tho

Nice coin you have there!! The artistry on some of the coins out there are quite incredible, it's hard not to be enticed every so often to add some bling to your bars!

At least the decorated coins carry their base metal value, and then some will have a certain "collect-ability" aspect to them too. It's a win either way in the long term.

I've been stacking investing in silver for only a short time, but knowing my money is going into something that will maintain value makes it that much easier to part with some paper here and there.

I don't normally go for the colorized coins either as they tend to be more expensive, and quite a few of them aren't well-done. It was like how many movies can out 3D for a while, but they were still garbage. Just make a good movie/coin and we'll be fine with it. No gimmicks.

I imagine that it should still hold a bit of its premium. Like other precious metals, the value is still there. And if times get tough, the value of silver might go up even more. So when you're "spending" on silver, you're really "investing" in something that will hold its value.

Not investment advice.

Agreed, I paid more than the actual silver coin is worth (minus the paint) however as a proud Aussie and healthy respector of the military and those who serve I couldn't resist. I prefer bars generally.

Ps. I just made that word up (Respector).

Sometimes you just have to pay more for a coin so that you can get it. I paid extra for my Kookaburra, but now I have it. I may have paid a few dollars over spot for it, but it's a sweet coin, and when it goes up in price, I'll still have it.

Good job making up new words! That's very enterprising of you. Now you just have to patent it or something so you can cash in on it... or silver in on it. Either way. Your call. ;)
