Fastest week of the year

in #sleep4 years ago

It's been about 11 days now since I got another pancreatitis attack, I've been getting on average 2 every month since my last hospital visit and even though I was going to fly back to Finland to do the operation covid happened which kept me here. The doctors understood it and are now looking to see if they have the resources for me to do an emergency operation here since it's been a long time since they've recommended it and a couple months past the preferred deadline of me having done it. I kinda miss Finland and especially a bit colder weather right now which is why I used this thumbnail pic below as it's getting pretty hot here now even though they have AC's here in the hospital.

The reason for the title is that I've been sleeping like a fucking sloth this week in the hospital. I mean, the last time I remember being sleepy as well the first couple days but it went away shortly after that and I had a lot of days I could just chill on the laptop and curate, post and even found the time to trade a little bit. I figured it was due to the infection and my body working hard to fight it off along with all the fluids and no nutrition coming in from food or drinks but even then it was like max 14h per day for the first couple days, now it's been close to 16 hours every day for almost the whole week.

Thing is that during covid I really didn't want another hospital visit to happen cause figured the chances of me getting it there were a lot higher than elsewhere since it might be a hotspot but not really sure if that theory was great. So each time I did get an attack I prayed to the simulation gods that it would pass after some vomiting and sleeping it off with paracetamol in me (which apparently is one of the few accepted painkillers for my stomach during these attacks). So far so good but this last time of course it didn't want to go away, after nearly 5 days of not eating and just drinking and laying in bed in pain and discomfort hoping that it would go away the next time I wake up it was finally time to visit the hospital when I started vomiting again after a couple days break of only having drank water and natural fruit juice.

So my theory now is that the longer I've kept waiting it out that the infection would heal itself off and at the same time the longer I postpone vomiting the worse it gets in the end. I don't even know why I do it at this point anymore, I should be used to vomiting after the 8 to 10 attacks I've had this year and each time I had to visit the hospital has been those times I wanted to be thickskulled and not vomit thinking that would change anything. So maybe that's also the reason why it took a lot longer this time around for the infection to disappear and I've now first been starting to "eat" some soup and am allowed to drink more water. In the beginning they were all like "you can only wet your lips eheheh" and then "only a few sips at a time" now they like "ye water good drink lots of it" as if that's news to anyone.

Another thing I'm surprised at is how much and for how long they been feeding me painkillers this time around, with feeding I mean injecting me with them. They keep asking me if I'm in pain which is weird cause the pain stopped pretty much completely on day two after they on day 1 started giving me a stronger sedative than paracetamol in liquid form which wasn't as strong for the pain of the infection. They're still giving me that stronger one even though I've told them for over 5 days now that I've had 0 pain, I even asked if it wouldn't be best to maybe chill with the painkillers for a bit to see if there is any pain without them but no "no pain" they keep telling me which I assume they mean me having pain is not good for it somehow? Not sure how they are related, I mean if I can feel pain it's not like that will make the infection worse, right? So they keep asking me daily if I feel any pain to which I respond no but at the same time it's like a different nurse and doctor every time so I can never tell how much they're up to speed or who is what most of the time. This one time someone else who's in this room but in the first bed (I'm in the 3rd with a window view) came up to me randomly and started speaking english as he'd heard me struggling with the nurses and I didn't even realize he was a patient instantly and thought he was also a nurse or a doctor since they have these sheets between the three beds way more strictly this time around due to covid so patients barely talk to each other.

Anyway, I'm glad this is progressing even though slower than the last time and I hope I get to do the operation soon to have it over with and not be as stressful when eating in the near future. The patient in the middle went home today so let's see if that improves my sleep a little since he was literally snoring louder than a slayer concert. Looking forward to be back home to my PC cause every time I'm forced to use my laptop again I remember how fast and nice it is to do hive stuff on the PC and write on a mechanical keyboard. <3

Then again I guess that feeling of "you don't know what you got until is gone" is not just something I'm feeling right now since covid is reminding everyone of that daily in the whole world.

Thanks for the wishes in the previous post!

Hope you get well and heal soon. Do you think that what the Doctors are doing is helping you improve at all?

I was wondering about a few things that you wrote in your post and maybe I could be in a position to help alleviate a bit of the pain/suffering. I can tell you a bit about my exp going through my digestive issues and my Doctors basically didn't help me at all and I wasted tens thousand USD on going through everything. I had to learn by trial and error and tons of research. And I fully understand you might have already read some of this or what I am saying doesn't apply but I just wanted to leave this reply in the hopes a part of it would help. I am not any kind of Doctor and I am not giving any medical advice keep in mind and I also see you are saying you were diagnosed with some form of pancreatitis so it is different than what I went through but similar ;0

It sucks going through medical issues like this and I personally know that it can really get you down and miserable. I had a medical issue that I went to the Emergency Room for 10 times before they started to figure out what was going on with me, and it is still kinda unresolved a year later. It ended up being something to do with gallbladder/digestive issues/stress and I have some kind of cysts in there BUT they aren't big enough to be concerned about. Ended up losing 50 lbs and I was able to get healthy again by changing my diet and trying to do better.

Too much sugar/acidty of juice or koolaid/soda will do that to just about anyone, especially if dealing with digestive issues. If dealing with issues with your stomach you would be looking to cut down on all inflammation causing foods/drinks. Inflammation free diet in short term. Juices/soda/fruit/acidic/most meats would be removed temporarily. Eating oatmeal/breads without gluten will really help. Bone broth/chicken broth for getting protein as it is easy to digest and you need some sort of protein coming in, as well as supplements for vitamins since this type of food has very little of it. The oatmeal/bread. helps rebuild your stomach lining and so does eating fats. From what I have read it is recommended to do the oatmeal/bread route first before doing meats as meats take longer to digest and cause more digestive stress/pressure. Oatmeal/breads for typically take less than 2 hours to get out of your stomach, chicken can be 4 to 5 hours, steak 6 to 7. Raw fruits and vegetables are extremely hard to digest when you are having digestive issues, steaming them and or cooking them will make it a ton easier for you to digest.

For drinking "natural fruit juice" are you talking about like freshly grinded juice from fruit or liquid juice from a store that is labeled "natural". Is a Doctor reccomending for you to drink Juice? The acidity level in juices will corrode and bother your insides, as well as the sugar is something that will inflame you the whole way down on an empty stomach. If you are drinking juice or soda on an empty stomach and that's all you are doing for 5 days we are talking about levels of acid going straight through your bowels/intestines. On an empty stomach everything is flushed directly into your intestines. Drinking water or lemon water on an empty stomach is ok to help clear some things out when you wake up or before meals in general.

Another thing I'm surprised at is how much and for how long they been feeding me painkillers this time around, with feeding I mean injecting me with them.

Yikes! Pain killers also away your stomach lining if taken orally and are extremely harsh on digestion/liver/gallbladder. Anytime your body has drugs of any kind coming into it your body tries to filter it out immediately and its a digestive stressor as well.

From everything I went through NONE of my Doctors was able to tell me what to eat and what to stop eating. They gave me mixed messages on what to do. NONE of them were nutritionally trained so they literally were not giving me advice. When I asked them what I should/shouldn't' eat I got a generic answer of some basic things. Nothing in depth. Some even told me to look it up online... yay USA medical system lol.

Sorry to hear about your condition @acidyo. Pretty weird stuff with them pushing the painkillers even though you said that you don't feel pain anymore. But maybe they know better.

Anyway, hope you get the surgery soon and everything goes well.

Wish you a great day.

Oh my! I'm sorry I mean painkillers can mess with one. I think your body is trying to fight the infection and pretty much it's been taking quite a while. Stay strong mate. Hoping you get to do the surgery when it's due. Take care

So much go on beyond the posts we see on the chain. No one could have thought that you've got an underlying health condition with all your activities on the chain. I'm sure you will be up and running in no time. Wishing you a surgery,
Acidyo.

Get well soon :3

Sorry to hear you're so ill Acid! It's somehow extra scary to be in a hospital during these times eh? Well, heartfelt blockchain well-wishes from me, hope you get well soon <3

PoSy - Proof of Sympathy

Hi Acid, im sorry to hear about your health state at the moment. Great to hear the snoring person went home. I hope it works out with you soon enough and you can hop on a plane to the North and get yourself properly fixed.... Take care for now! Bon Dia and if you are up for it grab a nice Pastel de Nata :)

Thanks, hehe will try before I leave. ^^

Couldn't help reading the comment by @roelandp and noticing that you're in Portugal. Awesome, I finally return there on the 21st after three months in The Netherlands.

Get well soon!

Cool! Did you get to meet with him? :)

I actually don't know him ( personally ) and wasn't here to meet up with fellow Hiveans ( also the-thing-that-must-not-be-named was way too distracting ) although I could have...

I am born and raised in The Netherlands though and was visiting friends and family and just started dating when "The Thing" hit and changed all plans ;<)

Ah alright, yeah, things aren't as locked down here anymore so you'll have a good time being back. Will you be bringing your date with you? :P

Ah alright, yeah, things aren't as locked down here anymore so you'll have a good time being back.

No doubt about that! Although the area where my house ( and twin sister plus family reside ) is pretty isolated hahaha!

The story about that date can be summarized in one ( or two ) sentence(s), as depicted in this post I wrote 8 days ago ;<) Men are from Mars and Women From Venus

I prayed to the simulation gods

Hopefully they answer.

I guess that they figure that while there is an infection, there is no reason to have the pain at all. When I had it, I was given a morphine drip that i could self administer. I self-administered as often as it would allow me - I miss it. :D

Hopefully they can find a slot and do the surgery you need and even though you will still have to watch your diet after, it is probably better than death.

Bruh why me no get no morphine? Now I'm jealous.

Get well soon buddy. That's the most beautiful blue I've found water to have in between snow. Share more when you can?

Best wishes!

Will do but I believe I've posted them before just hard to find now.

Oh I'll look it up then.

Really sorry to hear about your condition especially with pandemic going on. Hope you get back to good health soon and the simulation Gods do you an upgrade.

Thanks :)

Recover soon and charge your batteries, you will need them as all onboarding efforts start getting mass adoption!!! 😄

Get well soon @acidyo.
Best wishes from Greece man.

"he was literally snoring louder than a slayer concert." ..Haha! :D..I hate snoring people too!
Anyway, I'm glad you're feeling better!

It's only annoying when you get woken up by it and can't go back to sleep cause of it, luckily the only the former can happen when you yourself snore. XD

@Acidyo, I'm sorry you're not feeling well, man, and hope you recover your strength & health, soonest!

Sending good vibes your way✨

Get well soon! Sorry to hear about your health and I hope you get well soon and the surgery will done soonest. Pain killers works very well but some people get addicted to it because they use it once they feel the pain. I believe your doctor knows better and I am sure you follow strictly their prescriptions so that you don't get addicted to using the pain killers.

I am wishing you well.

Obviously, your disease is a bit bad at the time of the covid-19 virus, but if you pay attention yourself and do what the doctors want you to do, they will make your surgery as soon as possible and you will recover yourself fast. Take care yourself and don't make anything crazy.

I will send my hammer to you to recover soon. :)

Take care yourself and have a nice day....

Love that picture!
Get well soon!

Get well soon!

Accept my sympathy ... i don't know how it feels but i know for sure that no one likes the hospital except the doctors. I wish you speedy recovery. Have a peaceful sleep this night ...

Man, sad to read that story but happy to see you're slowly progressing. Wish you a great surgery and the best recovery.

You are doing well

Oh, what terrible news. Hope you get well very soon.

Stay strong and get well soon!

take care dear and wish you a speedy recovery..

Hi Acid,

I am sad to read about your situation, that I really don’t envy. For having a wife working on two hospitals, I agree one should try to avoid getting there as much as possible if one is safe from COVID. I have heard stories of human mistakes (from doctors!) making entire hospitals contaminated, instead of just a smaller units...

I am also amazed to see how the local doctors and nurses don’t seem to listen to you at all, with this painkiller story. Pain is a signal sent by the brain about something going badly. Why cutting out the signal?
They should at least explain what is going on, this is part of their job somehow. With the funding situation of the health system, the personal may however just not have the time to do so. This is quite sad but this is actually the case in many places in France; note that I do not know about the corresponding situation in the place you are.

Anyways, good luck for the future and keep us informed!

Having health issues sucks. To have it during a pandemic is even worse. I think it shows how strong you are managing with all of this and finding inspiration to post on Hive. I wish you well😊

Keep safe and hoping for your fast recovery. I could only imagine how painful it is you are experiencing. Keeping my fingers crossed for you not to acquire covid19 there in the hospital.

Sorry to see that you're in such pain. Best wishes, and worry not as it will all get better soon! Take care of yourself, and have a great day :-)

Good healing to you buddy !

I feel you man!
When I lost the ability to move the muscles on the right side of my face, I knew how much I’m gonna miss that smile I was taking for
granted.
Wishing you a fast recovery! 💚💚💚

Gosh @acidyo, you're in hospital for a very long time now and like you say, the very last place one wants to be right now but I so hope you can have that operation done so your body can heal! Have they said anything about the risks of diabetes with getting pancreatitis so often?
Sure you must miss home even more now!
Wishing you a good recovery!

Take care man!

Nice picture @acidyo. You will be alright soon. Prays from India.

Get well soon bro. I wish you quick recovery.
