SmartSteem - No More Opportunity Costs With Your SteemPower

When I was visiting the Anarchapulco event in Mexico I had barely any time to spend on Steemit for more than two weeks. Being a dolphin stake holder in Steem Power that would have created huge opportunity costs for me as I was not able to upvote posts and comments and use my daily voting power appropriately. Luckily I found a solution that handled this perfectly for me: SmartSteem!

Sell Your Voting Power

The key feature of SmartSteem is the ability to sell your voting power exactly at a certain threshold to other users of Smartsteem for SBD or Steem. As you probably know we all have a voting power that regenerates 20% every single day. As soon as you hit 100% voting power you start to have opportunity costs as you don't earn any curation rewards and you cannot gather any more voting power either. By allowing Smartsteem to sell off your votes at a high threshold like for example 98% you can keep a perfect equilibrium while never loose any money.

The Steem and SBD you earn are stored in your SmartSteem account and can be send to any account you like. You can also automize the payout to your account if you don't want to manually transfer your funds. There is even a SmartSteem whitelist and personal whitelist for people who may use your voting power. Pretty smart, isn't it?

Buy Upvotes, Boost Your Posts & Make A Profit

Of course you can use SmartSteem as well the other way around: By sending any amount of SBD or Steem to @smartmarket you will get upvotes from several users who are selling their votes via SmartSteem. You will receive a 2x - 2.5x upvote of the value of your transaction, depending on the current curation reward. For posts done on Steemit or Busy that means you basically always make a small profit - unlike all bid-bots where you can loose quite a bit and it is always a gamble.

smartsteem-2.jpg

Only when you are posting on platforms like DTube or Utopian where you share part of the author rewards with the platform itself you will not make a profit. It will still be a great promotion tool afterall. SmartSteem also offers the @smartsteem bid-bot for which you can delegate some SteemPower and earn 95% of what the bot generates. However, this post is not about that feature. Finally, you can use an affiliate link that will give you a little bit of all transactions the referral will ever do. My personal link looks like that: https://smartsteem.com?r=flauwy.

Conclusion

I think that selling all of your voting power is not a good idea and will not be beneficial for Steem and its mass-market adoption. However, in situations where you face opportunity costs for not being able to upvote posts yourself SmartSteem will safe the day. This can have any kind of reason like holidays, no internet connection, lot's of work, family life and so. I think it is great to set up a high threshold and make sure your Steem Power is always in use and never sits idle in your account ever again.

Let me know what you think about SmartSteem, if you already use it and what your opinion about this service is.

This is a great tool for future reference. It’s hard to stay current when you’re at an event and this would save the day! Thanks for the post! Resteem

Thanks for the resteem, Brett!

Thanks for sharing bro, I never knew of smartsteem, I am now more inform of the bot and will patronize them soon

what is the difference between the minnowbooster?

will this help in getting more value for our post

Not quite. For the votes that you give to others. Let's say you vote early and that topic trends. That's curation.

thank you very much

Quick question; I know that you cannot use your SP to upvote for 7 days after you remove delegations from someone. Does this mean if I were to remove the delegations from 1 user, then I can't delegate it to another for 7 Days? I'm just unsure on how this works. Can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance!

Also, thanks for sharing. I'm asking because I'm considering delegating to this bot. I've used a few bots to buy upvotes help out my friends who are new to Steem/Steemit. This one seems better than the one I'm currently delegated to.

Love your posts by the way! ~

Does this mean if I were to remove the delegations from 1 user, then I can't delegate it to another for 7 Days?

That's exactly how it works. This function will make it impossible to game/abuse the delegation system by using up all voting power of user 1, undelegate and delagte to user 2, use up all voting power and continue to infinity.

I guess the delegation to @smartsteem is pretty lucrative. I would like to see an analysis where somebody compares selling votes and delegating SP.

Thank you so much for clearing that up! That makes a lot of sense. I knew this was why they didn't allow you to upvote for 7 days, I was just unsure if that also applied when delegating. Even with the wait, I'm still considering switching over anyways. Thanks again!

how do you check what's delegated, what's 'cooling down' after having undelegated etc....?

also great post yet again!

on the top right of the page: https://smartsteem.com/

there is a calculator now, just enter the same amount for the vote selling as you would delegate and see the difference

If you delegate and undelegate a lot then just sell the votes, if you want to delegate and just let it ride then delegating is going to bring more
I personally have a bit delegated but prefer to use vote selling just because that does not take my voting weight away from me. For the moment also only the vote selling is selective and makes it so that I can set it up to only sell to whitelisted users

I love this platform, there are just so many creative ways to keep the STEEM flowing and generate rewards. Its very encouraging to see that there are passive ways to keep using your voting power on the platform, because we all get busy and have periods where we are away from Steemit.

Thanks @flauwy for sharing your knowledge with us. We really appreciate all you do for the platform and the fantastic resources your produce.

Many people have asked me how I did it during my journey in Mexico. I think I will write more detailed tutorials about that.

Thanks for talking about this, I am going to check smart steem out. I didn't even know how much steempower regenerated each day XD. I have a lot to learn!

Hehe, yeah Steem has a steep learning curve. It took me months to figure most of it out. And I still gnaw on some features I haven't figured out entirely yet. ;)

The above mentioned method seems pretty cool and useful.
Question: how much SBD I need to buy 100 upvotes??

It doesn't work like that. You buy value with your SBD and that value will come in form of either 1 or 100 upvotes, depending on how strong they are.

great explanation and for times without internet connection. which can be more often than you might think (e.g. when you travel a lot) it's a perfect solution. very smart invention :D

Waw! Smart steem in deed. Thanks very much @flauwy. Smartsteem got all I needed to enjoy the platform, the affiliate part is another opportunity. I love this

This is an awesome apparatus for future reference. It's difficult to remain current when you're at an occasion and this would spare the day!

Ideal for traveling.

I don't like bots.
Bots can not be part of a healthy community.
The next step?
A posting content bot?

Bots are a huge part of Steem and that will never be different with such a technology. You have them also on all other social medias but there they work silently in the background and few people talk about it. Here everyone can run their own bots. And YES, there will be content posting bots out there as well. Some will even become very sophisticated and create better content than 99% of all other users. AI is already very far in doing that.

Steem is not a community but a social media blockchain. The communities will be build on top of that in million different ways. There is the community function for accounts upcoming with hardfork 20. And also SMT's will do there part in creating communities. Bots will always be part of the game. The best services on Steemit are all bots. There more you get into Steem the more you will realize that they are everywhere and that most of them are actually pretty cool and helpful for the Steem growth.

You are right, this is a social media blockchain.
I believe small topical communities will be created inside this platform.

Content creation AI is being worked on and it's getting very good. The top AI companies will keep the good stuff to themselves, but they've started to license out some of their tech for a pretty high price. Luckily for us authors aren't very highly paid in general, but language capabilities are one of the necessary domains for their AI to master to dominate other fields so it's very advanced by this point.

An AGI would be able to curate and create posts that would reap rewards at near maximum efficiency levels, with some initial capital it and similar AI would dominate the platform in short time.

I agree with you.

SmartSteem is owing me 0.5 SBD, I sent it for boosting but nothing happened yet. So before i commit myself, i have to get my SBD back or my boosting.

Using a bid-bot is a totally different thing than what I describe here. I have used all bid-bots since the first one - @booster - came out. They all have their flaws and hiccups and it is ALWAYS a gamble from the start. I have no clue what happened with your 0.5 SBD but using such a service is always risky. You can contact @therealwolf on discord and tell him your case and he might be able to refund you.

However, what I describe here is a totally different system where your value is calculated exactly and you get the according value in either an upvote or by seeling your own upvote. That works 100% reliable so far in my experience.

Congratulations @flauwy, this post is the fifth most rewarded post (based on pending payouts) in the last 12 hours written by a Hero account holder (accounts that hold between 10 and 100 Mega Vests). The total number of posts by Hero account holders during this period was 375 and the total pending payments to posts in this category was $7878.12. Its a best app i can say. Thanks for bringing it to our notice.

I sell mine with minnowbooster. Which is better.

great platform but if one don't have much enough sp then it is not useful i guess

wow.
:( understan.

Quick question; I know that no one will be able to use SP for upgrading you 7 days to remove delegates from you. What does it mean if I remove the representatives of 1 user, then I can not give it to anyone for 7 days? I'm just uncertain how this works. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for sharing too. I'm asking because I'm considering delegating this bot. I used a few bots to buy upbacks to help new friends of Steam / Stevemeat of my friends. This one seems better than the one I'm currently representing. Please, everyone will help me a bit. I'm very helpless

Waw! Smart steem in deed. Thanks very much

will use this i am loving its interface easy to use

I do use SmartSteem and I love them

Thank you @flauwy!

And I'm really glad that you could use smartsteem to good use while you were away! :)

they have better plans than minnowbooster that's so cool

I have tried Smartsteem once and purchased a small amount of upvotes. I like that Smartsteem doesn't make it look obvious as it doesn't generate a comment on your post that screams to the world that you've purchased upvotes. :)

If you will use minnowbooster site it won't make comments bellow your post too!

Thank you for the info. I'll keep that in mind

Thank you for this. I'll look it up when I go home.

That's the thing about Steemit... There is so much going on behind the scenes that we don't know about unless we see a good post like this one.. How does one find all the ins and outs ? Is this when your tell me the FAQ part? Great info and thanks for sharing.. resteemed and upvoted

Now everyone has got a chance to do something with smartsteem

What difference do you see between smartsteem and minnowbooster?

I just gave it a try. I specifically chose for upvotes with a minimum smartscore because I want to reward good content and want to avoid bot abuse.

I'm curious how it will turn out.

Thanks for the info Flauwy ...great meeting another fellow Costa Rican expat at the Mexican Airport and to hear your story with Tijo:)

hmm that's practical solution if you have lots of comments
I believe. understands that there are so much more tools here one would think.

will this help in getting more valueable for our post.

How much power sp a user have to be elligible selling vote.

@fluwy super thankful for this post

thanks for helpful info post. following you!
