SMTs are truly an amazing innovation. SMTs are to this blockchain what ERC20 is to etherium.
It opens up the door for a ton of tokens to be created using the curation/reward system that steem developed. A great deal of the social media spectrum could adopt this format....
SMTs were a tremendous announcement...I dont think people realized how big.

Hmm @voronoi, I think the best part of this investment is that the platform gets more visibility to the public. As mentioned by @dollarvigilante in his talk at Steemfest, he cited that Steem/Steemit needs a better advertising strategy & innovations on its technicality.
Hmm, I will be more happy if a celebrity starts blogging in Steemit! Then shares it to her facebook, instagram & twitter. Haha.
Hey Jassen! Definitely, the visibility is great, but I think it also has big implications for the platforms to-be-built off of SMTs. Personally, I don't think Steemit.com is designed or intends to compete with a Facebook. BUT... with attention snowballing like this, SMTs could become a default third party token for ALL social networks online.
2018 will be an exciting year :)
I think it provides resources for development. Ultimately, past the hype, a blockchain's value comes from the development. I am guessing this leads to a ton of it on here.
The next 6-12 months will see a large number of apps built upon this.

As a fellow Steemer, I am very happy and excited as to what this will do for Steem! Steem is a pretty exciting platform and I think it will only gain popularity over time. Steemit is what I would say the future of social media and with this investment solidifies the state Steem continues to be, go Steem!! #Future

If you ask me the best thing for Steemit will be more active users. If steemit can gain even a 1/10 of the number of daily users of Facebook/Instagram/Twitter the sky is the limit!

I added a bit more to my SP based upon this news. Steem is going to be huge. I feel it will be one of the primary blockchains that emerge. It has the speed, the transactions and the ability to expand.
SMTs are going to make the steem blockchain the equivalent of ETH for the social media world. The amount of traffic that could go on the steem blockchain is truly amazing.
All those powering down are going to regret it.

can't pretend I'm not somewhat selfishly-excited with this awesome news, as an investor in Steem.
I have no idea what the marketing strategy is for SMTs, though the team in charge would probably do quite well linking in with various publisher organizations, really tapping into networks, coalitions, alliances, and such catering specifically to businesses that'd benefit from integrating SMTs into their model...

All it'll take is one recognizable brand integrating SMTs into their existing network. In terms of third party usage, I think it will snowball from there. Folks need "examples" of how they could tap into this. A lot of new apps will be built soon, but 2018 could be a huge year for Steem to penetrate existing platforms.

Although fictional and it might have gone a bit far by the end, really did a great job at painting a clear outcome of how STMs could be implemented.
