Either my content is not being seen or it is complete shit.

My follower count has been going up lately as well as my Steem Power. Yet my posts have not been making squat. I know its not all about money on steemit but that is how they make it seem when you first sign up. Get paid to blog right? I'm also noticing a hierarchy forming where noobs or (minnows) completely kiss whales assess on here. I was under the impression that the teachers pet is uncool idk. Another thing that worries me is some people only have new people as their followers and are making money off of talking about how many people they are bringing to the platform and resteeming their peoples posts making it like a little digital cult. Then they go and make money off of talking about the person they told about steemit making money. How is that "good" content talking about content? Its obviously considered "good content" on steemit because the posts are making thousands of dollars and have hundreds of comments. Is it "good content" or just high paying content makes me wonder... Is this the future of social media? Makes sense if we are all talking about the same thing.

"When you go on facebook do you talk about facebook and how cool it is?"

I think we need more news on Steemit. Like some anarchist reporting or some shit. Enough of all this copy and paste bullshit. I'm talking on the scene first person accounts or videos of what is really going on. A community of people not fishing for a penny out of the wishing well. If Steemit could offer information that nobody else had of course that would ad value and a major purpose to the blockchain. Not value in an economic sense but value in a social sense. After all that is what is lacking in "social media" I thought not money.

Sort:

It's pretty much inevitable that the first year or so of any social media platform is going to be dominated by people circle jerking about how great the platform is. There's going to be growing pains too, but that should level out over time as more people join and the novelty starts wearing off.

Yeah Id like to just see this after the honey moon period that is all and see who is still here.

I don't think you've a million miles from the truth mate , cheers mike

hope I'm not.

Well I don't but I do think that there are a lot of people patting each other on the back

Have you seen the trending page?
Have you seen how much Steem power they have?
Do you know they have been here since steemit started? we all love to complain at one point or another but serisoly you should of joined a year ago and you wouldnt be complaning about this now would you?
Just my thoughts Just as much talk about people making boatlods of Steem here there are the same amount of posts complaning about it do we really want this on steemit as well?
grow your following, invest in some steem now since its low at the moment.

Yeah I've seen the trending page and most wales don't even post. Whos really making effort on this site? Doesn't look like the people that invest in it. I could invest $100,000 will I? Doesn't look like it Id rather diversify in property and hard assets I can show off in real life and get credit for or laid. Gaining Steem Power seems like it is starting to look like a false sense of security with strangers on the internet. what happens if I lock all up $50,000 and go on vacation for 3 months and all the wales sell their Steem Power then what happens to my "investment" If I don't get the memo?

It has happened before when it was at 4-3 dollars a steem it reached all the way down to .11 cents and went back up to $3 now its 1.40 cents. How new are you to cryptocurrency? See if you invested $50,000 in steem power you would be making liquid Steem Dollars to use that you would get from curation rewards. Steemit is not going away anytime soon there are less than 300,000 users and more than half of those are brand new users. If you actully looked at the white paper of steemit and also see all the hard forks before HF19 you will see its getting better and better. Before your steem power would have had to stay in steemit for 2 years powering down. Now it would only take 3 months to power down completely.

Yeah I get that but that doesn't answer my question. If the majority of whales decide to jump ship and power down in 13 weeks. The profits I make and keep in steem as well as my original investment would fall pretty hard am I right? I mean if I'm on vacation and come back and didn't hear about this happening because I don't give two shits about the internet while I'm getting away why would there be something left when I get back? Doesn't make sense. The market would be flooded and the value would tank. That literally means all the noobs are kind of pointless.

You are 100% correct. I don't invest more cos I will never be close to those who actually decide. Transparency and decentralisation is only on the paper. (common problem with all "decentralised coins, more you dig more you find out that they aren't really decentralised) And yes, you probably can have some influence if you hold millions here but investing your 50k here would just mean gambling at this stage.

No again that has happened once man. Alot of whales jumped ship value went down to .11 cents and now back up again. Did you not read what I wrote? Now those same whales bought back in. Also again how new are you to cryptocurency.

The way I see it if you do have a good amount of $ buy some steem and power up you will not regret it. This place is only going to get bigger, so much more room to grow.

Or just take it day by day and make friends try different content types till you get a rythm.

I've been involved with cryptocurrency since 2013.

I feel ya. I too am a minnow swimming in a mud puddle right now just looking for something of value to add to this community.

True strory. Couldn't have put it better myself

In Steemit there is not about content but about your wallet, the bigger it is the more popular you are. Popularity and influence is there available for purchase and once you have purchased it you can become popular. To make the long story short. Rich can become more rich. Steemit will need to find a solution how to encourage people to be creative and how to be fair and reward the quality. Right now it seems that the only inspiration and motivation is the SP.

Well yeah I see that but in that sense its exactly like USD.

It's already encouraging people to be creative, you get rewards.

Rewards=SP=money. People are more encouraged how to be creative in the hunt for the $ than how to create a good quality content. Someone with 10k + in the account who is randomly rewarding 2 or 3 commentators with 100% upvote will be crowded. That popularity doesn't come because of his work and quality but because of his wallet. And this is something that in a long run is pulling back the creativity cos creativity is less rewarded than touching the big ones.

You must believe that touching the big ones doesn't require creativity.

Indeed, It is actually killing the creativity. Why would someone put effort if that is not rewarded or less rewarded than just following a current. Of course not all people are same, thanks God, but Steemit in order to be more fair and successful in a long run will have to address some issues, also related to rewarding system and distribution of power.

Well makes no sense to continue, we have different view about the community.

Just short about distribution of power only based on SP, should be also on karma. I see this as an vulnerability to the system, only money gives you power and if you have bad intentions you can work against the system once you have purchased your power and influence in the market.
