Back to Splinterlands Social Media Challenge, and to an awesome battle where one of the new reward cards was the star!
This is one of my favourite cards of the new set, albeit being a common one; it can be used in a number of situations, and has one of the rarest skills ingame, charge. Yes, I'm talking about this beauty:
A melee card that can attack from anywhere is a huge help; flying and snare only add up to the advantages of using it, and starting from level 5! I still don't have it at that level, but in this battle, even in low level, it was a perfect fit.
Three rulesets here:
- Lettle league: only cards with 4 mana or less can be used
- Rise of the commons: only common and rare cards can be used
- Earthquake: all cards without flying lose 2 health at the beginning of each round
After careful consideration, decided to go for the earth team; a lot of options for the little league ruleset, and the change of testing Halaran with (hopefully) some buffs.
My strategy and lineup:
- Obsidian as the summoner: the magic bonus wasn't that big of an advantage here, but I needed an earth summoner!
- Xenith Monk as tank: probably the best little league tank
- Venari Spellsmith: a decent magic damage dealer, with the extra bonus of causing -1 HP to all the other team when dying
- Venari scout: fast attacker and with the opportunity ability
- Fungus flinger: blind and affliction always come handy, but here mainly to buff Halaran after dying
- Halaran Huntress: flying ability meant extra survivability, and one martyr unit on each side would come in handy later in the battle
- Venari Marksrat: sbare if a good ability heare, but as the fungus flinger, here mainly for the martyr ability.
My opponent went for the death team, another good option here: riftwing is a great tank choice as well, and xenith monk as an offtank; venari marksrat after, using a similar strategy to mine. Two magic damage dealers next, venari spellsmith and life sapper; and finishing with ravenhood warden, with the useful protect ability for this ruleset.
How did the battle went?
Round one had no casualties, but some cards got pretty low on health, and as soon as round 2 started and earthquake damage kicked in, my fungus flinger was gone = buff for my venari scout and halaran huntress!
Mid round two, and my venari scout finished life sapper, that had redemption ability; as it kicks, clears my venari spellsmith and marksrat: that triggers redemption in my opponents team as well, and an extra buff on my halaran huntress!
Leaving me with only 3 cards in the battlefield, but now with a halaran with 4 melee attack and 6 speed! Still, I wasn't sure how would the battle end.
Next strike from huntress, and riftwing was gone.
And at the end of round 2, this was the scenario; as round 3 starts, earthquake damage would mean it would be my halaran against xenith monk and the marksrat.
And with the extra speed and melee from the two cards with the martyr ability... halaran had the advantage! And the battle was won, with a hopeless marksrat in tank position.
You can see the whole battle here!
As you can see, even in lower levels Halaran Huntress can be incredibly useful!
How's your experience with this card? And do you have any favourited from the new set?
See you on the battlefield! ;)

Thanks for the visit!
Love the Halaran Huntress. I also like the Shock Trooper in Back to Basics rule set. Its a sneaky application that is awesome.
Fully agree! 4 magic damage for 4 mana is awesome!
