ESPN wimps out!

in #sports6 years ago

Don't televise The National Anthem.

This certainly resolves the issue.

Who cares that fans want to hear and see the performance. Who cares it is disrespectful to the performer. Who cares if they are afraid to take sides.

We've consented for the players to protest by not being on the field for the honor of respecting our country. Their non-appearance is the symbol for whatever it is they don't like. And however it has anything to do with standing for our anthem. Just can't tie the two together.

Anyway, bad enough the NFL cannot seem to manage their employees.

Then a major network decides to wimp out. Avoid any controversy. Which in itself is controversial. And not airing the anthem resolves what?

Could it be they simply air the performance with cameras avoiding the players!. Focus on the field activity, the singer and the flag. Has to be technology where this is very easy.

This is a democratic society who has lost sight of one of democrasies' basic foundations.....majority rules.

Not so much in this case. How empathetic, or pathetic, is the thought that the right for a few to protest has permanently tainted one of America's favorite passtimes.

What about those of us who actually look forward to the presentation and song. No matter how poorly it is sung.

And ESPN wimped out.

Excellent! Support is much appreciated, and needed!

The world is facing a major challenge, a shift in power as a result of freedom. Freedom in itself is not outright without limitations, why does everyone think it's right to act free while infringing on others right.
We have to reorientate ourselves, we are not treading the right path.

My concern in today's world is often those who dislike are heard more loudly than those that do.

Then, it seems, we turn our attention to those who whine loudly and often.

Many knee-jerk reactions in our society lately.

Act first, understand later.

What can we do? We have to pacify the wailing child and put the child to sleep and rest. Else, we are stuck ourselves.

Everyone is looking for attention and most are ready to give it what it takes.

I do see the 'he who screams loudest' symdrome' so much lately.

Whatever happened to the 'suck it up' approach? That is how I was raised. Or, just as simple.....if you don't like it, leave it alone. Guess we weren't so politically correct where I grew up. Lol

I guess so too, looks like people were too honest out there.

Who cares if they are afraid to take sides.

ESPN is taking a side, the side of the players. 80% of ESPN is owned by Disney, one of the most liberal corporations in the country. If they can't show the players protesting, they just won't show the national anthem. It's their own form of protest.

Several years ago, I would put ESPN on when I was doing something around the house to listen to in the background. Now, I don't formally boycott ESPN but I only watch it when they have a game on that I want to see. None of there shows, commentaries or anything else, just a game I want to see. When the game is over, the channel gets changed so they won't think I am still watching even though my TV has been turned off.

They aren't good for much more than that one game a week anyway.

Football is the only sport I take an interest in so don't need ESPN. So there! Lol

Same here. It's pretty easy to do without them.
