It's 2018! Hidden messages in Starwars?

Cheers to 2018! My new years resolution is to reduce drinking, as you can see it's going well.

Goals set at the end of a year always seem to fail. We all have honest intentions to stick to our goals but our motivations ends up fizzling out in a few months time.

Do you believe in New Year's resolutions? Why/why not? If you do what are your 2018 goals?

Starwars: The Last Jedi - Vegan Themes

During my Christmas holiday break I had the pleasure of seeing the most recent Starwars movie. As I was sitting there stuffing my face full of popcorn, a scene occurred where Chewbacca had a cooked Porg in his hand about to eat it. A cute, but distressed Porg appears and the conflict on Chewbaccas face is evident. Chewbacca ultimately refuses to eat the dead, roasted Porg.

I smiled when I saw this as it demonstrates the disconnect so many people have between eating ready slaughtered animals and connecting them with living, feeling beings. People forget the pain and fear animals experience before death because they pay for someone else to do their dirty work.

The second scene was where Finn and Rose go onto a casino island and save racing Fathiers (horse like creatures) which are being electrocuted, forced to race and treated poorly. Parallels can be made to the cruel horse racing industry where majority of horses which lose are treated as wastage and killed.

I was happy to see a subtal commentary on animal cruelty in such a huge franchise. What was your opinion on those scenes?

Happy 2018!!

The producers did an excellent job sneaking in some great messages throughout the movie. Those Porg's are so adorable as well!

My new year's resolution is 1280 x 1024, same as always.

But seriously, I don't swear oaths or make promises when I can't keep them, so no resolutions for me. I don't want to lie to anyone, even myself.

I know! Always so dissapointing when you fail yourself

I feel that new year resolutions are a great motivation that creates momentum towards achieving a particular goal set-out, but ultimately, its the feeling of expecting instantaneous or rapid results that makes us give up (this was always usually the case in my experiences).

My new years resolution is not to focus too much on the goals, rather, to instead start being present in the journey of whatever it is I have goals set towards.

By keeping mind set like this as a resolution to keep throughout the year, I believe it would be easier and so much more enjoyable in the process of working towards any goals that I then set for myself 😊

Also, I haven't watched "The Last Jedi" but its really awesome to see them include such an important message throughout that can be so relatable 😌

Good luck too @hummuswatermelon on your resolution to reduce drinking 👍

My new years resolutions are to:

  1. Get fit! (I'm starting a fitness challenge with my work next week)
  2. Eat well (No dairy for three months starting TODAY)
  3. Play my drums I just got
  4. Paint more!
  5. Find my future husband. LOL

Ahhh Haaa... have you seen Steemit @darthvegan ?! Be prepared for a laugh ;)
