After successfully pilfering a gun from the car I quietly make my way onward, spurred by a grumbling stomach. I scan the surroundings as I travel, looking for something to sate the pangs. Finally, I come upon a flattened block with a sign reading "A new and improved mall, coming soon!" With the recent outbreak of chaos it lay empty, nature slowly reclaiming the lot. I pull the knife off of my waist and begin to forage.
Thanks so much papa-pepper! When I saw the table modifier it looked like it might fit with your game. Been consulting this guide religiously for styling. I had no idea how much flexibility markdown affords, this is such a fun opportunity to learn :)
I have one pistol and 8 rounds of ammunition,
and I choose option 1.I am @lrich, it is Season 6, Day 2 Round 1,
I'm sure there are some tasty greens in this abandoned lot. Fingers Crossed!I've learned a lot about edibles 🌱 from @papa-pepper and others on steemit.

Many people are so dependent on corporations these days that they do not know what can grow wildly and can be consumed safely. Many types of grass can be crushed into flour and the blades can be chewed on for the juices, even those annoying dandelions can be edible. Biggest concern is pesticides and herbicides, but most could be washed off. You may also consider (for the purposes of this game) to eat insects like grasshoppers, crickets, locust, katydids. In fact, their presence could also be, albeit not perfect, as a litmus test as to whether the plants in the field were sprayed with chemicals. You could even try earth worms too. Do not eat mushrooms.
Whereas in a grocery store people pretty much presume what is edible, and will loot it and if people are resorting to cannibalism already the pickings must be non-existant or real bad. And supposing there was enough for a long time, it is likely some gang already controls the store. They may trade you food for your guns.....then when you are disarmed they could shoot you dead.
I would avoid anything found in a car. breaking into things could invite people to shoot you in defense of their property, and even if you did find food, it could be months or years old and killed by the heat or bacteria eons ago.
Going hungry is of course the safest option at first, but it can make you physically weak and sleepy. In the wilderness, the predators attack the weakest and the sickest-and cannibals would be no different. Also unless you are a saint, it is better to look for food because you don't want your hunger forcing you to engage in unsafe conduct later. Also, there may not be anything to eat in the woods between say when the fiddle heads grow in the spring and probably the berries of midsummer-and even some of them could be poisonous. Maybe you could find an animal, but why waste the bullets. Maybe you could fish, but no one has string to make a net or fish line [but no hook]. And without any tools to make a fire, depending on wild life could expose you to their parasites and also to food poisoning. I would suspect the insects found in the woods are less likely to be edible than the ones commonly seen in the meadow.
I am not a survivalist, far from it. I'd make a terrible one as I am a vegetarian. I'v always found it more difficult to spot insects in the woods than in the fields. Sure you can pull up an old rock and maybe some rotten wood and find something including ants and worms which are edible, but typically what you find [here] are not as well known to be edible as the crickets/grasshoppers. Pill bugs, earwigs, and mili/centipedes.
If this was the sunny US southeast, I should say that kudzu (a plant) is edible and as an invasive species it grows everywhere. Queen Anne's lace is another plant that is edible with its carrot like root, but it similar to many parsnip type plants (including hogweed) which are poisonous to the touch.
Nope on day 4 part 2, I stayed in the outskirts of town to find a less dangerous path and was shot and killed. Those who took the dangerous path lived. That day was purely a gamble, and I lost the bet.
of course being out in an open field could make it easy for you to be picked off by a sniper. But still they could get you walking down the road anyways.
Option 1I, @lturner, being of a foraging mind today, choose
I have 1 Knife
I must eat by the End of Day 2 to avoid starvation
It's highly possible to find food in that abandoned lot. Not so highly possible in the other two options, besides which I'm concerned about the sewers having been backed up for 2 months. It seems like any scraps you might find in the store carry a high likelihood of contamination. The cars are a slightly better prospect, but it's been high looting time in the city and cars have got to be pretty well picked over. My guess is you may find other inventory in the store or the cars, but food is a fainter prospect and right now you don't know if there is a possibility of food during the rest of the day. If there isn't, anyone who doesn't find food now has a really high chance of being eliminated in the next round. (Higher than usual, that is!)
I have a knife and a rifle with 6 rounds of ammunition. I choose Option 1 this round - Try to search an abandoned lot for any plants that may be edible.
I have gas and am searching the abandoned lot. And I wish I could have made friends with those fellas. They seem to know how to work together. Glad I don't have a gun, though. I've had one every other season and lost, so not having one must be better.
Feeling a little more secure with a pistol and eight rounds of ammo, I venture onto an abandoned lot in choosing Option 1. Other folks may not know which, if any, plants are edible and possibly overlooked them. It's worth checking out before moving on.

there are surely some edible plants as well as medicinal plants for future use. If I come across danger, hopefully I can use my knife or rifle to protect myself.
I have a knife and I choose option 1. :D I'm pretty sure that I will find some plants or bugs that can appease my hunger pangs in the abandoned lot...nature is always willing to offer us up something, we just have to be willing to actually eat it. :D
I have a knife, a pistol with 8 rounds in it and I'll choose option 1 for this round!

How are the bugs 🐜 you find in the lot better than in the woods? You can find grubs, worms, ants in the woods most likely.
