Some of you guys have been around this whole rocky journey and remember Jordan and Maddie and their account @TangerineTravels
They live in Mexico now and travel around the world vlogging about it. It is pretty cool and they have done a great job with it.
Back at the first SteemFest in 2016 they got stuck in Iceland and the Steem community came together and sent them funds to get back to Arizona.
They always had pretty solid support from the STEEM community and made substantial amounts from the platform. They have since essentially abandoned their accounts for the time being which is strange to me.
Why is it that the people who often have had the most support here often keep it a secret and end up abandoning it all together but then some of us that have thugged it out here for over 3 years have limited to no support? Do you guys remember makeup girl from 2016? Literally dropped like $40,000 on a random girl with no following and then she peaced out. https://steemit.com/beauty/@guerrint/the-first-steemit-makeup-turtorial-bringing-youtubers-to-steemit
They make these YouTube videos about how they can afford to travel and even earlier on when they were collecting substantial STEEM rewards they wouldn't mention it.
What is the plan with the STEEM Proposal System? Just let STEEM Dollars stack up for the next two years and then when prices surge we can make it rain on random people that show up and make a guest appearance?

Some people think I'm just complaining but in reality I'm making moves over here. More updates soon!

Yeah, I don't understand why they do shit like that. That's fine if you want to attract someone by making it rain, but get a contract or something. I remember the Hodge twins coming here and didn't know they left. I never liked them from the couple of videos I saw.
Build on the community that wants to be here. That should be your foundation. Make it strong. It will hold up the rest of the building for many years to come.
I agree. If someone has a big following there could be big stake holders that could agree on providing upvotes but it has to be conditional on that "influencer" introducing their audience to the platform. Not just keeping it a secret and gaining off their relative fame. We have seen it over and over again but then some of us who have been here for over 3 years basically get looked at like we are a problem.
You really think a whale wants to put money behind someone that isnt well known, pay for their marketing, promotion, ads, equipment, etc. in hopes they will make it big and attract users here?
Isnt it easier to do what Dan and @oracle-d is doing. Just give guys with couple k followers a few votes in hopes they might mention STEEM.
Theres this idea in steemian minds that there is no big talent here, that STEEM is where the poor kids that couldnt make it on youtube go.
Thats false. There are number of creators that are immensely talented that started on Steem. Those are the kinds of people you want to push forward.
People like that have an emotional connection with the platform, guys like the youtubers on 3speak might be great people, but Steem doesnt mean to them as much as it means to those i mentioned i above.
I'd prefer they let stack up at this point. Very few of those projects are likely to add real value to steem. Wait until something worthwhile comes along for funding, that or eventually just burn it. Interestingly enough, it's mainly the witnesses who are (were) receiving support from it right now anyways, some of them for things they were already doing before with their witness earnings...
My thinking is it keeps people engaged and working on projects for STEEM. Otherwise so much talent just leaves like Partiko or Share2Steem ....etc. Crypto investors like myself would have been engaged to pump a large majority of our funds into STEEM instead of other projects. And yeah the whole thing of just supporting witnesses is what I figured was going to happen with it. People see through it and the reasons mount of why not to invest here.
I am going to be coming out with news in the next few days that is a pretty interesting marketing opportunity for crypto. STEEM could have been at the for front of it but nahhh.... Sadly despite all the time I have spent on STEEM and promoting STEEM I never made any money from it because even the last entries I made were at $0.80 and $0.60 and the writing was on the wall that things were going to get much worse and I didn't have support.
Just think if investors like me got support and we would have put the money into STEEM and put our energy into STEEM. Multiply my purchases by thousands or tens of thousands pumping into STEEM...... but Nahh.... we didn't get support for our engagement or proposals.

This is only a few of my orders....... but instead of feeling like it is better to burn funds just think if people got more support how things would be different and where people allocated their investment. A lot of talent just leaves.
Yeah, i agree with this. Most of the projects are related to maintenance and nothing of any big contribution is created. Its just that the projects that are funded are funded because they have big friends and a standing in the community.
Id rather burn it then give Matt 15k USD to maintain keychain. Thats nonsense.
I mean the top witnesses earn roughly 340 steem per day, and even at these depressed prices that is significantly more than it costs to run a witness node (or two). Then you have guys like themarkymark posting mostly every day collecting big rewards on top of those earnings... then the majority of the heavily voted DAO proposals are also witnesses... something is wrong here and getting worse.
You should maybe adress it. You got more reach then I do.
The best thing for STEEM unfortunately is for it to go to $0.01 so new blood can stake their claim and rock the boat at this point. But then there are the issues of too much inflation and other concerns. I fear it is going to be a very rough road for STEEM. There is no true leadership that someone can look up to. Looking at Energi they have Tommy World Power..... the guy is kind of a mythical legend over there. People have just had a bad experience with STEEM for the most part unfortunately.
Yea, the hope at this point is for something of value to be built on here that ties up vast amounts of RCs and SP. Or a bunch of somethings with value...
Yep, feel that way too.
... maybe i can get a real girlfriend
... or maybe a doll, i hear they are loyal. :-p
Hahha, Robot girlfriends are your enemy!
Frustratingly so and I think its because we're a small community.
The idea behind why these guys use and abuse steem is becsuse they often have large fanbase on Youtube and Dtube and are affraid of offending or confusing people there.
The second reason I reckon is that the big wigs on steem try to attract these guys with large folllwing outside, in a bid to attract their followers. The irony is that they hardly rep or mention steem and it turns out to have a negative effect on people like us.
It has been very strange who has gotten support here and who hasn't overtime. The problem still persist that by giving rewards to creators it is almost bait in a way for them to want to buy more STEEM to gain more influence and pull others in to do the same and without using the Ad revenue to create that additonal revenue stream to reward content creators it is "Ponzi Like"
The reason we can't call the model a Ponzi is because you can come in with no investment other than time so there is no buy in like in an actual Ponzi Scheme. It is a totally voluntary free system.
If Steemit Inc would have managed their funds better and put ads up when the SEO funnel and engagement was at its greatest in 2017 and would have used part of the Ad revenue to buy STEEM and reward content creators in the form of STEEM Power this system would have flourished and created an almost unstoppable feedback loop.
The bad thing is that in its current model STEEM would have to fall to $0.01 for me to feel like I could buy into it and have enough influence compared to the other big accounts to really matter. It is a tough situation for sure.
To me it is pretty clear. Steemit Inc needs to go to a skeleton crew just for minimal maintenance to where they don't have to sell STEEM and half of the ad revenue starts to get rewarded to content creators with high engagement in the form of STEEM Power.
They won't do that though. They will continue to sell and beat the hell out of the price and over spend on employees and not accomplish much. It is honestly sad.
When its hard to make real connections with people, money is all that matters in this place tbh. Recently, louisthomas had one of his videos flagged to $0. It was only then that he posted saying that hes “losing faith in steem.” Meanwhile hes been earning a lot of money here for a long time by cross posting his videos here with minimal effort.
Im so sick of everyones fuckin bland ass personalities here. Im sick of and embarrassed for the unfunny memes that our community creates. Im sick of how i rarely come across anything here that makes me genuinely laugh or intrigued.
I used to be heavily into rap battles and was on a message board for it. The community was wayyyyy smaller than steem but everyday I came across the funniest posts and memes that literally made me cry from laughter.
The most interesting blogger was that guy yallapapi or whatever his name was. But the insipidness of most accounts here made him stop posting.
We're all losers (including myself) who are hoping that this place could one day make big moves. Im a loser. Youre a loser. And whoever else reads this is also a loser. Money is all that matters here.
