I LOVE STEEM!
I love steem at the very sight of it! And the thought of finally I can earn through my blogs without having to organically gather audience and followers and wait for any purchases from them. All I have to do is to post valuable contents and wait for money to come in. How cool is that?
But don't get me wrong. And forgive me for being a BIT pessimistic.
Because I don't think I can get my FB friends to migrate out of FB and signup on STEEM just as easily. Unless they're as geeky as me ;-)
For starter, the UX of FB is far more superior as compared to... well, any other social media sites out there. I believe UX designs for STEEM is also underway but might take another year or two to really make the site more user friendly (not that it's not user-friendly now). In fact, I love the simplicity of STEEMIT "stream" but I'm not sure if my FB friends will share my enthusiasm.
Not everyone writes a blog or #wants money (who might that be?) but almost all of us #need money.
So for the next 6 months or so, my FB friends may have to deal with separation anxiety if and when they decide to join STEEMIT.
I do keep a positive outlook and will try to get them to see the real benefits of joining STEEMIT.
What do you think will likely to convince FB fanatics to migrate?
greed will move many people here but they will soon leave, disillusioned, back to fb.
if #steemit community continues to innovate with its constituents in mind, i believe there is a very bright future for everyone who joins. in 2014, when i learned about bitcoin and bitcoin mining, i had to purchase hardware just to get a little bit of piece of btc. eventually mining life became harder and harder by the minute which pushed me to mine litecoin instead. then the same thing happened with mining difficulties on the rise.
with #steem and #steemit, everyone has equal chance to play the game of crypto. FB will not go away. but #steem will rise like we've never seen before.
No, see, most people join when they see huge profits of top posts. But very quickly they figure out that either they can only produce trash which is not rewarded (that is most people, talented authors are few) or their valuable original content is lost in others trash. I.e. their chances of earning meaningful SP are near-zero.
So why use a social network which makes it very hard to post media contents and find content from your friends if you already have FB which does that better (except for 1 cent per week of rewards)? I want steem to succeed as much as any other person here, but it is not yet realistic, maybe in some distant future, when it is has something FB does not.
Unfortunately I am one of those people who was attracted to the light and to some extent got burned, but not totally burned. i just have to back up just a little to get my composure back. I'd like to think I evolve as a "writer" with my every post. Sometimes I get disappointed seeing my post don't get enough votes. Most of the time I get discouraged when my post doesn't earn much or doesn't earn at all. I must have written "trash" as you put it.
I'm trying to keep a positive perspective here and with people like you spending time commenting on posts like mine is a reward in itself. I sure would love to get some profit on this post, but hey, you can't win them all. But know that I really appreciate your efforts spending some of your time on my post and sharing your thoughts. Thanks!
At least steemit can become a censorship-free platform in the future :) Not many people appreciate that but it is important. Good luck!
Steem young. Some problems will be solved with time.
And your friends to join. ;)
