Agreed with much of what you say - the important part is to see the big picture for Steem. As I understand it, Steemit is just one showcase project for what's possible with Steem. We're already starting to see ideas for other projects that are made possible with Steem.
The one topic that I'm still wrapping my head around is the difference between "private blockchains" and "public blockchains." for example, whatever i post, comment or upvote on Steemit is "public." So I think of Steem as a public blockchain.
But as some comments here have pointed out, corporations will want private blockchains. For example, on U.S. television these days, IBM is already advertising "blockchain solutions" (the same way they advertised cloud solutions or AI solutions) - presumably, they are building private blockchains for specific business clients to enable whatever they want to do (logistics is big, I hear). So... how does Steem/Steemit fit into that bigger picture?
