Thanks for the info craig, wasn't aware of that before. To be sincere I must say this I think that you are too much thinking about this all. Since you are thinking about conspiracies now, but I may be wrong. I fail to comprehend how would low steem price benefit those bitcoin whales here and why would they be against steemit. I would believe that they are smarter than to cash out so soon and bring price down so fast.
As for bitcoin price rising I believe it's recovering from theft last week and not from cashing out from steemit since last 24 h volume of steem is just around 1% of BTC volume for last 24 h. That 1% couldn't affect BTC. Those stats I'm bringing out are my conclusions of watching http://coinmarketcap.com/
