steem.io website only shows 920,800 accounts and we need to see why that is not updated? Why the lag? And why only 40 Million in payouts when Ned correctly stated at Cons3ensus few days ago that steem has paid out Hundreds of MILLIONS in rewards! I was thinking well maybe hes just talking about SBD that has been soild on bittrex? Haha nah man steem.io must be updated they gotta get dat updated data mang I don like seein dat lag in dem stats breh. Anyway Thanks so much to @ned for finally posting more
but hey you should give a disclaimer and explain WHY you Can't just start voting for peoiple because ethen people would start saying theres favoritism etc etc and itd take away money from others rewards as rthe rewrad pool is toitally static and you can't just start using you are big stake itd take away too much from others rewards yeah?
Here is @ned 's Vote Diversirty and theres nothing wrong with it,
And we need to explain to more people that Ned cannot be using his vote, he does plenty with his delegation, and when the time is right he will use his own voite, but if he used it or used the @steemit accounts $8000+ Upvotes it would ZAP value away from other peoples upvotes and just think about that, your upvotes would just be worth less. No way around it, the reward pool is the same just gets allocated differently. Many whales don't even vote at all, they also don't vote for witrness! Steem would look WAY different if just the top uisers started acting a lil differently! The current regime is so delicate lol
Anyway Thanks @ned and thanks @inertia I appreciate this enriching cultural internet experience.
Can I ask If Q3 2018 aka September is a good target for expecting HF20? Will Appbase and communities be out by summer?
Or are they out when they're out? Oh man I just wish Steemit inc had more employees but I bet inertia would just say "hey you can't always solve a problem by throwing money or people at it" and yeah Steem is a database with cryptographic keys and witnesses and its amazing but you can't have too many chefs in the kitchen!
I cannot wait for the new updates and in the me time I want to work on videos and animations and posts that explain how steem and DPOS works!
I would not be so positive...1 million accounts of what?...How many are really active?...how many share quality content?...how many people make projects for the growth of the platform?... if we only look at that million, what we want is to deceive ourselves.
I love steemit...it's almost the only social network I use...Let's not fool ourselves...the purpose of the platform is dying.
They will continue creating thousands of accounts...but active are very few...And why is this? for the bad distribution of wealth in steemit...few have much and many have little...we made steemit a perfect copy of the distribution of real world wealth...and many of the powerful instead of making an ethical use of the platform, they are dedicated to the purchase sale of votes.
If we continue this way, many accounts will continue to be created, but fewer and fewer will be active.
if it continues to cost so much to grow in steemit people leave it...or is dedicated to publish hundreds of post junk to get 0.01 in each of them destroying the blockchain.
If we do not worry about making a better distribution of wealth the future of steemit is very doubtful
and how do we make a better distribution?
with important delegations to the different communities...and within those communities to who care about the growth of the platform, sharing quality content, making projects for the growth not only personal but of your community...if we do this it will be easier to grow...and not only will accounts be created, but people will stay in steemit because they see the future in belonging...people will stay because they trust the platform...and if you trust the platform you will trust your currency...and if there is confidence in the currency the price goes up...
If those who have more, if those who have millions, they do not start giving important delegations they will continue to have millions, but millions of nothing.
I love steemit. Let's not destroy it as we destroy the world
I have to agree with you to some extent. But consider this, the "active/inactive" address ration of the Bitcoin and Ethereum network is waaaay worse. By fat i dare say that Steem has the best numbers when it comes to activity to address ratio.
There are 2 million activity (network transactions) in the Steem network in the past 24 hours alone. As compared to the barely 200,000. Steem only has 1 million addresses so far while Bitcoin already have upwards of 14 million.
Of course, the data above doesnt paint the whole picture. Steem and Bitcoin are designed for totally different purposes.
From a purely technical standpoint, all the spam thats happening right now barely put a dent on the Steem Blochain network capacity. Operating at only 0.2% strain to the network. Bitcoin was running at 100% for the past 3 years before the spam stopped. Cryptokitties killed Ethereum and today it's still experiencing some congestion. The spams arent even a problem for Steem to handle.
If those who have more, if those who have millions, they do not start giving important delegations they will continue to have millions, but millions of nothing.
That I concur. but it doesnt mean they can only delegate or die. There's alot a user can do for the benefit of the platform, not just delegation. But then again we will have to understand that not will do things in the name of altruism Steem is a microcosm of the real very capitalist world after all.
And it doesnt only have to be a whale, a minnow delegating 10SP to the right cause can have HUGE positive impact to the whole platform too! @steemcleaners and @spaminator are always in need of delegation no matter how small.
If minnows arent doing what they hope the whales would do, do you think its fair for the whales to do it?
Actually, if bitcoin and ethereum are worse, it's not something that worries me ...I speak of steemit, which is what interests me...and I agree with you ... they do not have to do altruism...they should do it for their own good...I do my part ... doing the purpose of the platform that is to share quality and creating projects...and giving my opinion...the sale of votes has to end ...the powerful should use the platform and the blockchain ethically...and reward quality and the projects that make the platform grow.
And it should be the other way around ... the whales have to lead by example
and the minnows will follow
if on a platform as spectacular as steemit only little more than 5% of users are active something is wrong ...
you are right, we need more people on steemit, but we need to create value, I live in the first country using Steemit and it is really changing my life.
@ned, I think you made a little mistake here. Haha... you silly rascal! I was the millionth! Give me a hug and I'll give you a magic... well, let's talk in private maybe! Everything you must know for now.... is that this is (by far) the funniest thing... happening on this chain of blocks!
Ned can you please focus energy on getting users signed up quickly. So many are complaining they have to wait two weeks and many leave because of it.
We appreciate your latest effort of getting the word out! Thank you for that. If you have an idea how we can support with other projects in this effort let us know. I'd be happy to help with our @steem-bounty project.
Besides bringing even more new users to the platform, I think we should make sure that the highest share possible of those we already have, is turned into active users. Currently we have ~60K active users per day, which means that a large number of these 1 million is not actively participating in the eco-system.
Social interaction on Steem needs to be even more intuitive (structure / design / education) and also attractive (algorithm / rewards).
PS: With @steem-bounty you've brought a great asset to this blockchain, thanks for that @knircky :-)
Too bad your retention metrics are absolute crap -- 13%
Puts a bit of a reality check on the celebration, doesn't it? I'd personally crack down on the bots, but it seems that is never going to happen to any real degree.
I stopped posting actively on my blog ~7 months ago. I had 273 followers then. I'm now close to 400, doing absolutely NOTHING AT ALL. Still think Steemit isn't full of bots?
So, you're saying that we have to overcome some kind of ... inertia?
Ba dum tss!
I'm here all night. Remember to tip your wait staff.
Extreme Awesomeness!
Formidabla!
Magnifico!
Titanically Terrific !
Hey I just did apost here about hgow @ned needs to fix the steem.io website https://steem.io check it

Here is @ned 's Vote Diversirty and theres nothing wrong with it,
( link to that Graph is here and you can replace "ned" with whatever account and refresh the link to get your own custom Graph of Vote Diversity of outgoing votes )

nice job. i saw it too
Damn, they're gonna feel that one in the morning...
Yes. That makes sense in a way or perhaps a critical cal number of users to get others interested.
@ned, I think you made a little mistake here. Haha... you silly rascal! I was the millionth! Give me a hug and I'll give you a magic... well, let's talk in private maybe! Everything you must know for now.... is that this is (by far) the funniest thing... happening on this chain of blocks!
I'd like to be the first user to get a million followers....
Then we are talking youtube, twitter instagram and facebook followers...
I beleve in Steem,
to go, for grandma and
uncle ben to adopt it!
For fair balanced commentary follow me. and
I think it would be very hard. it might take a while, but you've got a good shot

We appreciate your latest effort of getting the word out! Thank you for that. If you have an idea how we can support with other projects in this effort let us know. I'd be happy to help with our @steem-bounty project.
Damn right, how are the new users supposed to get in while this issue isn't solved?

is exactly what I say in a comment above ... and I see no other way to solve it than what also expressed in that comment
That's really important. My friends also said that they waited about 7 days to get signup.
Steemit has become one of the most important parts of my life. I normally despise social media, but Steemit is a jewel in our world. Thank you for it.
me too!
This is an outstanding accomplishment for the platform. Also, gives a good boost of positive energy for the whole Steemit community :)
You are an active member and you have a good blogging site. You can promote steemit more. thanks
Amen to that brotha
Totally agree. We just need to spread the word
Cheers to the next 1 million!
Next 1 million could be quicker than the first 1 million
Yep, to the next 10 :)
@ned so true.
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
1 million acccounts, and still our CUI is at zero!
Source
I wonder how many transactions per day it would take to start seeing an uptick in CUI.. 🤔
Absolutely
Good news is that it has been achieved even before expected. I love this family.
Too bad your retention metrics are absolute crap -- 13%

I'd wager you'd be wrong on that score.
This is a great milestone for steemit
I see greater heights already
God bless Steemit.
I'm new here but I feel an early adopter when I look around! :)
I hope to see the next million come a lot quicker and for many more of them to be active.
Gratulations!
