It is interesting seeing you guys investing in steemit in this red market. It shows the confidence in the whole project and an indicator that the future will be bright. Though I don't have the cash power to do as yours, I am more than ever encouraged and motivated to keep contributing (writing, commenting) so as to increase my reputation and give the little I have to the steemit community.

steem is really good. i hope to also inject in some liquid cash to as an investment on my steemit. With steem you will always win because it uses compound intrest which is the 8th wonder of the world.

I think Steemit needs to become a bit more "mainstream" or at least find a large niche if we are really going to be able to make money owning it longterm.
Which of course, I think we all want to do.
That said, I think it's time that management was a little more engaged to make this all happen at a better pace.
I disagree with you does not have to be mainstream just a nichemarket.
that's a great perspective; however, if you want the value of your "shares" to increase, you need a LOT of people interested and taking part.
Yes, some niches are big enough, but we need big numbers of people taking part.
Steemit does need to go more mainstream. There are a couple of things stopping that. 1 is the slow registration process. 2 is all the reward wars going on. It turns people off. 3 no one can really explain the economic model in depth how it is a sustainable platform. So many will write it off as a mlm/ponzi type of system.
But I wouldnt worry too much. Steemit doesnt spend any money on ads. Its all organic. And we're only 2 years in. In the next bullrun it will gain a lot more traction.
Regardless of its issues and shortcomings, I think it could have a fantastic future. Of course, it depends on two things, competition and or if it kills itself from the inside by communists trying to make things "fair" by destroying even more than they fix...
Trying to "even" things out, or target the "bad men" always just ends up with the "good" people turning into nazis..and no one dares to speak up, free speech is shut down, people turn their back and flee, and it ends up as a rotten hellhole. Thats what I fear..
The steem price will follow bitcoin's price, so if BTC goes down, so will steem.
However, you could make up the loss depending on how much curating income you earn.
Good choice! Ethereum is at risk of losing releavance. Steem hopefuly has some better potential.

Powering up is ok, it makes 2% of interest per year, which is more than a bank :) Now I'm collecting free Steem, just in case of some SBD / Steem fluctuation (*before I lock it up in Power).

Today there are 1.500 currencies on coinmarketcap.
And all of them have the same story behind (decentralized, blah, blah...)
I would consider hodling only those with the clear idea what are they for:

You shouldn't hold just "random" coins...you should hold coins that you believe strongly has a value proposition. Steem offers a lot of that IMO. It depends on how you utilize Steemit of course, but theres a lot to do here, and many opportunities.

I bought some more with Binance last night but the wallet is down for maintenance, so I'll have to wait to power up. I do think Bitcoin could have a low below $6k but I'm not sure Steem will go below $1. I'm sure there's lots of people wanting to buy at $1 again, having missed out the last time it was there. I could be wrong and this is also not financial advice, we all have to be careful investing in cryptocurrency. The start of this year has shown that it's sensible to only use money you can afford do lose.
You could exchange them for ETH and send it to Bittrex...I used bittrex today.

Never invest more than you can lose..if you need fiat, then I get it. But once that savings account can cover a new dishwasher, I don't see any point of keeping lots if fiat laying around. :)

Well I am from India, I am an Indian I am studying Bachelor Of Commerce I am in my second year now average category student I scored 85% in my 12 standard and scored 72% in B.Com First year I am going college forcefully because I was attached to my family business for a long while now and have learned alot from that I sometime say dad that I wanna quit and join his business so he shouts that I business is built in his hardwork so achieve something then think of my business later on future you will be handling but as of now concentrate on studies and be someone and something first so he wants me to do MBA ...
He have an Advertising Agency in my City Outdoor media Company our company fix hoardings and print banners he also have an Catering and Event Company which is looked after me and was attached to event business from a look while
Actually I am good at decoration and Event management so I requested Dad after completing my schooling to open this business he opened and I am doing good out here we opened the business In the 2017 and has seen massive success but dad says complete your Graduation and Also complete MBA after that it's all yours if business fails you have a business management degree that's the reason..

good man. Steemit inc needs to up it's game. EOS has a lot of catching up to do if there will be a social platform done. It's also sad that you still need to use bots to pomote and "earn".. that's just sad, not because you don't produce good content.
Thanks for the 'floor' advice - I've really been humming and hawing about whether to buy into more Steem (with fiat) - might hold a little longer.
NB - 9% of the population is still 30 million people - so it's more than 'hardly anyone'and certainly enough to trigger 10* long term growth given the relatively low market cap of crypto overall.
