Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.
Be the tortoise
We have ten pools, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, @sbi7, @sbi8, @sbi9 or @sbi10. The number of members that have posted within the last 28 days continues to increase slowly but steadily. As of today, there are 3768 active members. There are also many more members that have not posted. Unfortunately, the members that are not posting are not receiving upvotes. As of today, there are 67769 subscription ‘units’ in the program, and it grows every day.
My daughter is in her second year of university. She sometimes calls me for advice when she feels overwhelmed by the amount of things she feels she needs to do. My response to her lately is to “be the tortoise”. It’s a reference to a story about a race between a hare and a tortoise. Everyone assumes the hare will win because it’s fast, but the tortoise always wins because it is slow, steady and focused (the hare always gets distracted easily).
That’s what I feel SBI is doing right now. Nothing crazy is going on, membership isn’t going “to the moon” but it keeps increasing every week. The number of shares continues to grow as well. I take comfort in that because I know I’m here for the long haul, and I think members of SBI and especially the delegators feel the same too. What a wonderful community to be a tortoise in!
Delegation Bonus
Existing members can receive bonus units from delegation. For every 10 SP delegated to @steembasicincome, members will receive 1 bonus unit. These bonus units will be removed if the delegation is withdrawn. Currently each unit receives an average weekly voting value of 0.0068.
Please do not combine filling orders for pool 1 (@steembasicincome) with delegating for bonus units.@sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, @sbi6, @sbi7, @sbi8, @sbi9 and @sbi10 are managed to target multiples (e.g. 200 shares ~ 400 SP, 500 shares ~1000 SP, etc.) For this reason we ask that members that are delegating for bonus units always delegate to pool 1 and we will manage the SP flow into the lower pools appropriately. If you want to fill SP orders through minnowbooster's market, you are of course welcome to fill the orders going to lower pools.

Any Steemian that is already enrolled in @steembasicincome can delegate as much as they would like, to receive bonus units. If you are not already a member but would like to delegate, please send an enrollment transaction to @steembasicincome and we will add your bonus at the time we process your enrollment.

There are some odd little discrepancies in reported delagation. The chart above shows mine as 300.002 SP, but steemworld.org shows it as 302.177 SP.
Are others here seeing minor inconsistencies too?
SP is fictional. In reality, your account has VESTS, and those VESTS remain fixed over time. VESTS are converted into an SP value whenever you look in various tools at the level of delegation, and the reference rate gradually increases the SP value of your VESTS over time.
When you delegate, you actually delegate VESTS, even if the tool you are using says you are delegating SP. We update the levels in our chart as delegations come in, but we do not update every SP value every week. Even if we did, there would still be discrepancies, but they would be smaller.
If you check your MVEST value against our chart, it should be accurate. Some members update their delegations periodically, resetting a 300 that has drifted upward back to 300. Most do not worry about it.
