What we need: A STEEM/fiat marketplace.

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

What a hassle it is to get your hardearned STEEM converted to useable fiat...

It usually goes like this:

  1. transfer STEEM to a marketplace
  2. sell STEEM for BTC - minus transaction fees
  3. transfer BTC from the marketplace to another marketplace which deals exclusievly with BTC/fiat transactions - minus transaction fees
  4. sell your BTC - minus transaction fees
  5. transfer fiat to your bank - minus transaction fees

The Proposal

A dedicated STEEM/fiat exchange.

or...

A free STEEM/fiat marketplace that's run by the community.
There are already sites which let people do their own BTC transactions based on trust. It works just like online auctionsites.
Both parties register their accounts. The sellers makes a sell order and specifies acceptable payment methods. The buyer buys it - money is transferred either by hand to hand, paypal, bank account or through the sites own wallet.
After each successful transaction you can rate the seller/buyer.

Just my 2 cents :P

Do places like this already exist?
Who could build such a site?
Is it a bad idea? Good?
Let's talk in the comments.

We should have more options for changing crypto to fiat in the future, like Ethos. I quite like that it's not easy because I gave up trying to cash out recently and now have much more than I would of.

hah, fair point! HODL.

STEEM to Fiat to Paypal I would be willing to pay heavy transaction fee for that in one transaction

I would add a huge fee on top of that one... that would be the dream, but Paypal would never do it.

That'll never happen. Paypal has a habit of freezing funds for large accounts, at a moments notice. It would be a really risky business being the middleman for such an exchange.

You know you can exchange for LTC, DASH, or ETH and the fees and wait times are less. Just saying...

Try living in washington though... there is no way for me to trade STEEM on any market besides blocktrades. Really lame if you ask me! I want to be able to sell at HitBTC prices but they have their deposits and withdrawls locked up!

Something needs to change!

Good point! I haven't tried taking out money via ETH or LTC. Should compared the prices.
Your situation sucks :/

You will get a better market rate with different coins because of lower fees.

Can you share a link to best known - auctionsites?

I think nothing beats eBay.

If somebody want I have 50 steem up for sell... we can use PayPal .

you should start a sellthread/post :D

Can we text in E- mail... I have some very strange questions....is it ok? :)

I find this interesting.

It is almost impossible because of the laws in some countries :D

laws are meant to be broken :D

Yea... wouldn't that be just glorious...

I think the fees to exchange Bitcoin will be the downfall of it. That would be awesome if there was a marketplace for Steem. If there was one created here even like how Facebook does it, it would add another dimension.

Yeah, a simple marketplace like that would be sufficient for a lot of us. No need for anything fancy.

Yes! We need this. It would help make Steem grow if it was easier to use. There are many smart people on here. Someone should create such an exchange.

WE NEED THIS! And isn't it the point of a truly decentralized platform? 100% Upvoted! Followed.

I hate the fact that when I shop online, only bitcoin is accepted. The transaction fees are tooooooo damn high.
It should be easier to spend cryptos over all.

Bitcoin is not really viable for small transactions anymore. It's ridiculous. About time it changed.

Fabulous Idea. Should have been done already. RESTEEM

I haven’t even begun to think about Steem to USD conversion, but I’ve read a load of posts about what a nightmare it can be.

I’ve come to believe that there is limitless talent and limitless ideas and limitless intelligence on this platform, and I have faith that someone (more talented and intelligent than me) will come up with an ingenious solution for this complicated and frustrating problem. It sounds like you might be onto something!

I think I’ll just save up til that time comes. :D

i hope that too
who knows, maybe in a few years steem will go for 1000$ apiece and we all use TenXpay visa cards to pay in crypto :D

I never exchange for BTC, but for ETH and LTC, fees are low, and I was wondering why everybody buy bitcoin with such high fees...I'm not good with numbers usually but as soon as I noticed the difference of fees I knew the way to go...LoL...I do that in few minutes with @blocktrades ;-) and then I buy euros...

That said, yes Steem/Fiat is a wonderful dream and that will one day come true, undoubtedly ^_^
