Voting Abuse... My take

Good morning steemians. A lot has been going round over the past 72hrs about the white paper discussion on voting abuse...

Here's my take on it... If the trend of upvoting your own posts to earn more rewards is not watched, greed will end up destroying this community.
Apart from being a blog, steemit is also a social media. The incentive is to encourage you to write more, to be original. Instead of upvoting yourself to earn more, why not explore the social media part of the community. Reach out to more people who will in turn go through your content and upvote them. You'll help the big pie go round in doing that. Let's stop thinking about 'self' cos 'self' does not make a community. You want to earn more, be a good curator.

Let the abuse stop!

Thank you for reading!

The self vote will not help anyone doing it much. But it's a free decentralised social media platform, so I guess people have the right to upvote whosoever they want including themselves. Though not a fan of self voting as I think I have only voted for myself once :)

Steem on ✌️

Upvoting yourself once or twice is not really the issue... Making it a habit is where the problem is. It should not even be done at all, though its a free world.

It's a free world and steemit allowed it. If not they'll be a code to prevent self upvoting :) Steemit is still on beta. Loads of improvements ahead.
I'm glad we agree✌️

Writing a code to stop that takes away the freedom that the blockchain offers. They don't want to gag us. We should be able to do the right thing.
Thanks for your contribution.
Much respect!

Yeah, take a look at this proposal
by a steemian, @mattclarke, I think if implemented it'll help in solving the issue of self upvotes or at least make it less lucrative once and for all.

Thanks... I've gone through it. @mattclarke share the same view that i hold about rewarding curators more to discourage self upvoting.
But then we should also note the fact that minnows like me with very little SP will gain little or nothing from curation rewards...

You are right. The less the SP the less the curating value. The other way of getting a faster SP is to buy and power up. Or lease SP.

I am guilty,as i have upvoted myself once also. Though I see nothing wrong in doing that

I don't think it's wrong to do that. If not there won't be that place to tick, for self upvote, while submitting post. Though I once saw a dude[name withheld for security purposes :)] who upvotes ONLY himself. Not a single upvote to another steemian. But its a free country. Lol

There's nothing wrong with doing it once or twice. Just don't form a habit of doing it.
