Why the price of Steem is surging.

in #steem7 years ago

The number one reason the price of steem is surging is what happened over Christmas and New Year.

Thousands of people started to use steemit for the first time, abandoning Facebook and other blogging sites. Word is getting out.

You can see the changes by reading @penguinpablo’s recent blogs. Here is one of his charts which demonstrates that:

9961ED4F-EE36-4553-ACF8-CFBD6A6FA339.png

In the above chart you can see a 50% rise in active users in just a couple of weeks.

Why does that affect the price of steem?

Answer: Vanity.

Steem is to bloggers what lipstick is to women. It’s a vanity asset. When you have it, people look at you. If you have lots of steem, they read your blogs.

You only have to look at the hundreds of replies I got on my recent blogs to know it is true. If I like a comment it is worth alot of money to the commentator. Lots more people read my blogs because I have lots of steempower.

Steem has utility as a vanity asset. It is useful to all bloggers. The more bloggers we have on steemit, the more people want to own steem (to get steempower).

Getting steem listed on new exchanges

The developers are discussing the listing of steem with a number of exchanges. There is no news yet, but they are hopeful. If listed on a major exchange, it would be much easier to buy steem as an investment without having to open an account with Bittrex.

There are several other reasons why steem should go up which I listed in my blog of a week ago.
https://steemit.com/steem/@swissclive/steem-could-easily-rise-10x-today-s-price-within-a-few-months-it-should-perform-better-than-bitcoin-steem-price-compared-to

Thank you for giving that link of 12 day old post of your blog. I read it with much fun. (To bad it is to old to put my vote credits) I came across your blog while in search of what just happened tonight what could bring that $6+ steem price jump. There must be a reason for such sharp spike. Can not believe it is just an organic rise from more steemit users, more free time for blogging during holiday time. There must be more to it !
In any case, you just got +1 follower today. This time from Lithuania. 😃

You are right about the "more to it". I try not to confuse things for my readers so I keep it simple. Perhaps 5% or 10% of the rise is attributable to vanity buyers, (you can see some other people's blog about the movements in and out of steempower).

Whenever there is a change in trend, investors start to anticipate the future. That's what accounts for the other 80% to 90% of the price move.

Investors are stepping in, taking a position, and expecting the trend to continue.

I made a little post about you. It was inspired by @everlove and i hope you check it out. Just something simple and only in appreciation. https://steemit.com/untalented/@olawalium/thank-you-for-being

I agree about people chasing Steem Power, but I'll say that I do respect the nature and intelligence in your posts more than I consider power. It doesn't hurt that you're generous and giving, but I read your material because I know it's going to be thought-provoking, relevant to my interests, and as of recent weeks, focused on helping the community.

@steemmatt, Thanks so much for the comment.

You are an intelligent commenter who adds interesting and thought provoking comments to people’s blogs. You really add something to the debate on the topic.

You write interesting comments (and of course blogs!). Your comments are useful to those who read blogs and they enjoy reading your input.

That’s why people follow you. That’s why people vote for you. That’s why you have a high reputation which will go higher.

You only have to look at some of the short meaningless comments which follow me everywhere.

You can see many examples below.

Nobody is going to vote a comment which adds nothing useful.

You got my vote for this comment!

Woahhh. Wow. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your feedback and words, especially as I've veered off crypto blogging lately, feeling that I wasn't able to catch peoples' interest, or that my ideas were off/too cliche. I needed this reminder and boost to stick to my guns. Very glad I caught your post before bed here and could reinforce what you do here.

Thanks beyond a million for your vote. I was about to work out here and got some extra energy now.

Absolutely agree ... Happy New Year btw :)

The part I liked most about the publication is when you say that having many STEEM in your profile gives you more authority.
It is completely true. It reminds me that we must work hard to maintain our leadership and get more followers every day. + STEEM = + followers

Having power is one thing which is good, but only when it is in the hands of the right people who do good with it. There are very powerful wars going on with people who have a lot of SP, and they are damaging steemit. One example is @ber......... and his gang of robot thugs (don’t say his name). I am staying well clear. You can read about it here in one of @doodlebear’s comments to me. https://steemit.com/steemit/@doodlebear/xowoz-today-i-learned-how-the-price-of-steem-dollar-sbd-is-made-you-should-know-about-that-too#@doodlebear/re-swissclive-re-doodlebear-xowoz-today-i-learned-how-the-price-of-steem-dollar-sbd-is-made-you-should-know-about-that-too-20180103t224804564z

That post is a bit difficult to understand. It is quite long and contains too much information in one place. It is interesting to see how witnesses have their own war of power. It is as you say, there are silent wars that one does not imagine. I'm going to be left with the user's doubt that can not be named, we talk about that topic by telegram

Thousands of people started to use steemit for the first time, abandoning Facebook and other blogging sites. Word is getting out.

Okay I would like to believe this is the reason but come on it feels so unreal I mean $6+ something that was struggling with $2 some hours back.

I think there is a conspiracy behind this time to get the team back and investigation is needed would report my finders back to you.

Till Then stay Tune.

After hours of searching and searching I would like to believe the below is the case and new investors just re-entered the platform.

The more bloggers we have on steemit, the more people want to own steem (to get steempower).

and probably this

Getting steem listed on new exchanges

Happy New Year from Nigeria sorry coming late

Irgendwie ist stem ein elitäres. System wer vie stem hat, hatund viel, macht😡

@otemzi It sounds like you may have a way to get more information? If you discover anything useful, please share it with us all!

As I mentioned above, part of the movement is due to vanity buyers, the rest is investors anticipating the future. That's why Amazon went from zero to $200 ten years before it made its first profit.

The rest is investors anticipating the future.

This should probably be the major reason, when new investors come into an organization, we get increase and improvements of that organization and also looking at vanity buyers as you mentioned, probably buying and exchanging steem to other crypto coin, reason for this is that looking at the price tag for both steem and steemdollar, the increase affects steem quite a lot afterall steem was supposed to be the superior.

Be that as it may if I do get any more info would be sure to bounce back and update

I absolutely agree with you as pointed out in this blog. Here is my own analysis further to the rising price of STEEM :-

(1) I have observed the synchronisation between STEEM and SBD from last 30 days. If you check once SBD price was 1 usd and then suddenly it goes above 10 USD and steadily traded there and after that the delegation market of steem power suddenly looks lucrative and people want delegated steem in order to earn more SBD. And now see the effect of STEEM the steem has gone up, becuase people are no more powering down their steem power.

(2) In last 30 days if you check, the liquid steem is constantly decreasing, which means less number of liquid steem is being generated which is otherwise pushing the price because of supply/demand factor.

(3) If you see the ALEXA rank, then steem has constantly improved its rank, particularly in last 60 days, which is a good sign.

(4) People have already understood that, here when they engage in this community there is certainly a reward whereas there is no such reward in facebook or other social blogging site.

(5) Technically I do see any price of steem below 10 usd as undervalued, so the demand of steem is still on.

Thank you so much @swissclive and Have a great day.

@shivohum2015 Thank you so much for adding these important points. Please continue to share valuable info like this!

Thank you so much @swissclive. Yes I would share more points as I go on experiencing more and more in this community. Wishing you happiest ever new year 2018 as well. Have a great day.

Spot on. I am one of the many users who dumped other social media platforms for Steemit. I have notifications there that i wasn't even moved to check. Trying to learn as much as i can here. Yes, with more steem power, comes control and audience which makes some people pay attention to what is written. I need to build mine too so i could give encouragement to others. Really excited i joined when i did. So much to learn and so much to give. Sadly most people just upvote without actually reading what was posted. This is all about learning for me because it brought a spark about my writing which i have lost for a long time. Makes me want to study more to give my best because you don't know who is reading. Go steemit!

I get loads of other social media notifications which I also now ignore. "10 people on Facebook want to be your friend..."

I would also like to suggest that lots of people are here for reasons which have nothing to do with the reward pool.

People read and write because they enjoy it. There does not have to be a monetary reward to make that happen.

However a monetary reward is a useful way to keep the score even if it is a few cents.

Hahahahaha "...10 people wants to be your friend".
You are absolutely right, many people are not here just for the reward pool, some wants to learn, showcase talent, improve and also socialize. I have lost count on number of people i have known through this which normally i might not even come across in life, let alone talk to. I met some that even live very close to me which i never knew. Really amazing.
Yes, the monetary reward is useful, it's sometimes like a motivation not to easily give up on what we know how to do. We really could use a little but of motivation once in a while. Steemit has been an amazing journey so far and more exciting moments to come. Writing gives me joy and getting my thoughts out there for people to know is super cool too. Thank you for being amazing. Time is money and choosing to reply and give your time and the upvote means a lot too. I don't take them for granted.

I made a little post about you. It was inspired by @everlove and i hope you check it out. https://steemit.com/untalented/@olawalium/thank-you-for-being

Well it's really exciting to see that the price of steem is growing and reached a new all time high of $8.50 and it's just feel that we are not even started yet and a even more and huge future is ahed on steemit and im totally agree with you that steem is to bloggers is like lipstick is to woman and i am sure the more and more people join steemit the more and more value of steem goes up and many people including me already deactivated their Facebook account to do full time Blogging on steemit :)

Well done! You are ahead of the curve. Welcome to the future.

Thanks for welcome me dear and iam sure steemit is the future of potential bloggers and people who have talent but wasting their talents on Facebook and other social media platform because they don't knoe about steemit yet and they are struggling to get some attention of other random people.

Hi my dear friend, I wish you a Happy New Year!

You only have to look at the hundreds of replies I got on my recent blogs to know it is true. If I like a comment it is worth alot of money to the commentator. Lots more people read my blogs because I have lots of steempower.

Sadly true!

Interesting post, as usual! I feel the same way.
Yesterday i wrote an interesting post where i explained the reasons for the future steemit growth. Steem was at $3.5 now it is at $6.00.

The main points contained in the post was:

  • HF20;
  • growing traffic (alexa rankings);
  • new exchange will list STEEM and SBD;
  • LOW fees;
  • Steemit still in Beta Version

If you've got time to burn, you might take a look into it.. it's in italian language but you could translate it with google ;-)

@miti I looked at your post which really seems so terribly interesting that I struggled to read it in Italian (I have never learned any Italian). Whilst I could get the general idea, I wish I could have understood the detail better.

Time permitting, I will translate it in english ;-)

I put the translation in the same post.. thank for your interest ;-)

@swissclive when people entered to steemit and gathered in-depth knowledge about what the community is actually, I am damn sure they won't look back on other networks to spend time there. This is what happens in my case too. To be honest, I love spending most of the times on my own blog (Writing, SEO, Social Promotion). But after December 19, 2017 (the day my steemit journey started), I could not able to work on my blog and started spending too many hours in a day and night over here for reading, writing and engage with fellow steemians via comments. I agreed completely what you mentioned in your post, increase in both steem and steem dollars may be because of too many new accounts every day. Let's see how things change in coming days.

I think that most traders already understood that it is necessary to buy altcoyins, behind which there is a working platform. Other altcoyins may fall at any time.

And Steem is currently the best platform with a strong team.

Exactly. Steem's use has been proven and is actually working.

Your predictions always come true although I doubted the one on bitcoin 😂, but you were absolutely spot on.
I mentioned a few days back that people come to your comment box because they know if they make a good comment, they will be rewarded(That includes me too).

Getting steem listed on some major exchanges is going to be huge for the community.
Some days back they were trying to list steem on cex.io which is 29th in terms of ranking. Getting steem listed there requires us to vote in favour of steem.
Somebody was trying hard to get steem listed there as he kept writing blogs and inviting people to vote for steem, I don't remember the name though and I did vote in favour of steem and asked my friends too.
I think every user on steemit should do the same.
You can also vote for steem @swissclive

If only all prediction were to come true!

If you KNOW what your reason for investing is you won't get it right all the time, but you should get more right than wrong - as I do. This includes the global stock markets and other investments including gold in which I have been investing for some 42 years.

The way to profit is to line up the potential investments, working out what are the good and bad points. From that it is possible to develop some expectations about future price developments. Based on the price expectations you simply invest only in your top ten or twenty.

They won't all work out.

From time to time you can re-visit the reason you invested. If the reason has been fulfilled or if it no longer exists, it is time to re-examine the situation.

On the other hand, if you DON'T know what is good or bad about the investments you make, it's like playing in a casino. You might lose.

That's absolutely right.
I just started investing/trading and it has only been some months(maybe a year), not more.
I think you learn with time.
Experience plays a huge role.

Yes, I believe that vanity factor is a key, and has gone under the radar of most analysts. The demand increases with rising prises. Just regret I did not buy more Steem at $0.8.

I have seriously been looking all over for why the sudden surge. Why so much and, maybe more importantly, why now? I agree with your assessments above regarding @penguinpablo's information. There has definitely been a serious spike in active users. Word is starting to get out. That's one of the most exciting things about this platform. Word spreads exponentially. We don't just add a few here and there. The more people that use it, the faster it can grow. With all the bells and whistles coming down the pike for 2018 this could really get crazy.

One thing I would add to this is that SP can't be powered down overnight. It takes 13 weeks to get it all back. That means that whereas a "normal" crypto that has a price spike will have immediate profit-takers, much of the Steem currency is "locked up" in SP. So, there isn't nearly as much "liquid" steem out there to sell when the price moves. I would look at the "power down" vs "power up" numbers over the next couple days and see whether it spikes. That should give some indication as to whether this might continue, hold, or pull back some.

Regardless, it sure is fun to see it move in the right direction!!! Thanks for all you do @swissclive!!! Steem On!!!

I think that people who own steempower are not speculators. Steempower was mostly bought for its utility as a curation and blogging tool. (Vanity).

I don't see loads of people powering down to get USD, because the question they would face is where to put the money. Keeping it in cash seems pretty pointless unless you need it. But if you needed it, then it would have been stupid to buy SP in the first place.

Both good points. I hope you're right. You're definitely right about the logic behind powering down. It doesn't make a lot of sense.

One nice thing about not being on many exchanges, it's not easy enough to get for there to be too much speculation. That said, it has still traded over $90M on bittrex over the last 24 hours which works out to somewhere north of 15M+ coins changing hands. Probably closer to 20M. That's a really good number. Almost 10% of the "float". That's very bullish for the future....we'll see.

Thank you. Yes, I've tried to logic my way through how SBD, Steem, and SP interact and affect each other and I haven't really been able to figure it out yet. I would think the gap would narrow as people "convert" SBD to steem and SP but.....by converting it, they lower the supply of SBD so then, by definition, the SBD still out there becomes worth more. It's kind of a chicken & egg scenario. It will be interesting to see what happens as Steem becomes more and more in play to the overall crypto community....

I've been on Steemit.com now for two weeks. I'm not able to grasp the full concept of Steem and the Blockchain... YET. What I do know as a 'digital enthusiast' is I have been sleeping shorter nights since I've arrived on Steemit:

  1. For it's potential for me as an artist and person with sudden lessened mobility to create content/share my work from the couch and maybe even earn some income
  2. For it's feel of a pioneering opportunity! Although I think Steemit could be even BIGGER in the way it can mean something to people, it feels similar to 'discovering' Twitter, Facebook... And I've joined all those big names always quite early, when they weren't big names yet. I like this early bird feeling, and I feel it on Steemit.com
  3. For it's community! Yesterday I listened to the WhaleShares radio for the first time and it made me happy to feel people are really connecting with one another. Of course not all of Steemit, but still.

I've been experimenting up until now with a lot of things around Steemit and plan te write them down in a few weeks (spoiler: I regret using voting bots, I don't regret reading, commenting on blogs and diving into some Discord communities). That's the point where I will share my experiences with Steemit with friends / facebook / twitter. Who knows. The price might be surging for many reasons, but one of them might be that in 2018 non-tech/crypto-savvy people like me who intuitively feel it's potential are willing to get other people on board!

Hi @soyrosa. I am glad you joined steemit. Over time you will make new friends who share the same interests as you. Unless you live in a particularly impoverished country it is going to be hard to make a living on steemit. There are few dozen - at most - out of the half million who signed up, that are clearing more than $100 per day. You will quickly come across them in the hot or trending sections. What you do get is a community. It takes a long time, but if you write alot and you write well, followers will arrive.

"Steem is to bloggers what lipstick is to women. It’s a vanity asset. When you have it, people look at you. If you have lots of steem, they read your blogs". I love this! My first objective on steemit is to pass across my mind to the world, though the reward is an added benefit. If everybody should approach steemit the way you @swissclive approach it,this community would be more conducive for us all. Thanks for the information.

Four factors I would reiterate again which is strong fundamental factor for steem :-

  • The fastest blockchain transaction which is 3 seconds
  • There is no fees for sending sbd or steem in p2p transaction
  • The steem blockchain accomodate highest volume per day and it handles even smoothly
  • STEEM BLOCKCHAIN is scalable

  • With all these factors in place, STEEM value was undervalued for a considerable amount of time and this 6 usd price per steem does not come to me as a surprise. In fact I am looking for steem price of 14 usd and above to justify STEEM.

    Thanks a lot.

I think it's a bit of a hyperbole to say people are abandoning those other platforms for Steemit. With all due respect, those platforms are so big that Steemit could drown in them without anyone noticing. Furthermore, most people moving to Steemit, at least to begin with, are cross-posting their content rather than just posting it in one place.

(I must admit I am not a fan of "Steemit is amazing!" to the level it is often displayed on Steemit. It feels like a pyramid scheme at times due to it.)

Why do I think Steemit is surging? I think the original impetus was because a new whale is buying in. And Steemit is actually a solid cryptocurrency, so a surge in it is helping others buy in.

I mean, yes, people buy Steemit to gain more visibility, but from what I've observed, most non-whales sell their SBD for said Steemit, rather than buy in with an external currency.

I agree there are some who are "cross-posting" as opposed to "abandoning" FB.

It may be hyperbole - used to make a very complicated situation easy to understand.

The underlying point does not change. People are arriving. Whether they abandoned FB or fell off the moon could be the subject a 300 page study, but at the end of the day, an investor wants to know the conclusion in a few short sentences.

I agree that much of the rise is driven by investors, (not whales though), who are anticipating an increase in demand later, commensurate with the rise in users.

I agree there's an increase in users.

What I want to see now is retention rates. It could be that the increase in users is "fake", as in, we keep getting new people faster than old people are leaving, but if the average user leaves after, say, 1-2 weeks, then in a couple of months, the numbers will either decline or go down. This is a situation that one can see in many "Free to play" games that employ "pay 2 win" strategies. Early on, they keep getting new users at a faster rate than they lose them, but it doesn't hold.

Now, I'm not saying this is the situation here, but it might be. Steemit's problem with scalability of rewards is something that might drive people out, even if they currently find the place palatable :-/ I think a hard fork will need to fix that problem somehow, at least, for the longevity of the platform.

It's an educating post, I really wondered what caused that upsurge in the steem's value, seeing the number of new users, and reading your explanation - which is very sensible and I wonder how I did not understand it by myself so far - I now understand it. I wonder if I should recommend friends to get steem as an investment, if it is going to be listed in another major exchange, I'm pretty sure that buying it is a verry smart decision, even if we are looking at the financial aspect only.
    Thank you!

Perfectly written, I would have added a little. Besides vanity, which undoubtedly plays one of the main functions in price growth, I also want to note that people start to believe that Steem can cost 20 or more dollars. (As for me, I firmly believe in $ 20 by the end of 2018.) And the appearance on the platform of people who want to invest their capital in their SP, which will bring them profit.
Although, today I was shocked when that Steem was more than 6 dollars.
With the New Year of 2108, I wish you all the best, let all your wishes come true, a peaceful sky above your head, health, love, happiness, financial independence and good luck.

Nice insight as to why the current increase of streem and I share same views

Steem is to bloggers what lipstick is to women. It’s a vanity asset. When you have it, people look at you. If you have lots of steem, they read your blogs

People already enjoy socialising and making post about their day to day activities, so getting paid doing it causes a shift, I don't remember when last I checked my facebook account, or instagram page.

This is the beginning as this year I foresee steemit reaching 10 of millions sign-ups, which will lead to different challenges but for now let's all enjoy the drive and growth, grab a beer and don't blink too much so as not to miss the rise.

I went to sleep steem was $4 woke up $6

It is very hard to deny that many people will be on steemit in order to earn steem/cash etc. The reason people might stay over the initial reason of earning is they also find that people are generally nice on this platform. I'm still young to this and have quit facebook due to the bs that is posted and constant public battles I've seen on it. Steem seems fresh to me and much simpler than setting up a savings account for the future! :)

    Great post many thanks!

I just woke up and saw that steem had risen MORE, up over 6$. This is incredible and I’m wondering if it’s because of, as you say, something to do with steemit or some other trend in the market. Is some group finally acknowledging the true potential of steem, finally realizing how amazing it is in transaction time at basically no cost?

I agree with @steemmatt, I come to find your posts because you write meaningful, thought provoking content. Many of the people I follow don’t have a lot of steem, but I follow them and comment because I’m genuinely interested in what they’re saying and/or I’m learning something. Of course many will just follow the money, but it’s more rewarding in my book to have that grey matter piqued and massaged between my ears than go chasing the gold at the end of the rainbow. With steem rising like this, more and more people will join and it will be increasingly important to focus on the quality content and not promote any drivel or posts written just to get money. There is a lot of talent here, just takes some sifting through.

The crazy thing is Steem isn't even a top 100 social media platform, 30,000 active users is nothing compared to major platforms. It's safe to assume that it's completely undervalued and the future looks very bright.
In the short term it's also broken out of a 16-month cup&handle pattern, last time it broke out of a 1-month cup&handle it went up by five times. Anyone selling now will regret it, I assure you. My short-term target would conservatively be around $20, but I wouldn't be suprised if it reached $100 in the mid-term. Yeh, you heard right.

2018 second day will be memorable day for all steem user as STEEM has made all time high in terms of USD and the road is set for 20 usd from here on.

We have so many fundamental catalyst as well which would boost the price of steem going ahead.

Not to forget higher the steem less would be the liquid steem on day to day basis, that means less would be the supply and one more fact is that as long as the steem and sbd price is on a higher side, there will not be any powering down by the user, so this another sign of high steem price.

Thank you so much @swissclive and I looking forward to more info about steem blockchain from you.

    Steem on and Stay blissful...

Nicely said. With the introduction of SMT within weeks and HF20 on the horizon the trajectory is heading nicely to $10 and beyond.

Wonderful explanation. Now it would be worth watching how much of these new users stick with Steemit. Because honestly speaking, the first few weeks could be frustrating here. On top of that making your way through the technicalities involved(Steem,SP,SBD,7 day period, 13 week lockin et al.) isn't an easy task. But good news nevertheless, about time, for those who invested their time and energies one year ago, to reap benefits.

It takes a while to understand the difference between steem, steem power and steem dollars. There are hundreds of blogs here in steemit which explain everything.

It is true, I am more likely to comment on a high value account. But it is vanity? Or is it intelligent use of my time if I hope to get noticed, hope to get ahead, hope to make some money?

I also spend my time commenting on what matters to me, what seems to hold value for me. So I do both, they both have value to me. I do not feel vanity in that I don't chase things that don't have meaning for me.

And as the Haejin event taught me, I also stay away from that which I don't understand, I refuse to get involved in downvoting wars that just drain my steem and attract hate to my own posts that I have no way of mitigating.

So I try and stay grateful for all that happens here, stay on the positive side of things, and hope (though I do understand that vanity is deceptive) that vanity is not my motivation. Because I am aware of its pull, that I can side step it, and thru alchemy, transform it into humility.

Very wise thinking. Do you hope to buy steempower or to earn it?

Earn it. I don't have a 'steady' income. I have been self-employed for years now, and now I am about to be a stay at home Dad. I'm not sure I am ready for all that, but this gives me a wonderful outlet to be creative and also express my views. I think I have done enough self-work to be of value and offer a perspective that is both unique and useful. Though I still struggle with my anger towards the unconscious behavior of the world, this has given me a chance to work on that, to see what others respond to, and be a part of a community that consists of real people, which I really enjoy.

I do appreciate your post very much, it has given me moment to pause, and consider my actions. I like to think I am only doing what I do for the right reasons. But alas is that always true? I feel sometimes I rush my posts, and with proper intention and work they could be better.

I'm not so sure about the correlation between the new users influx and steem's price. The massive volume and abruptness of the moves smell of big investors/whales. If regular users were the cause we should see a gradual rise in price.
    Happy new year btw :)

I covered this in a different reply. It's not whales. No whale in his right mind would do that. If whales are buyers they would buy slowly and quietly on bad days. Any attempt by a whale to sell part of a large position would quickly move the price down. Imagine if the Fed was buying and selling gold. Do you think they could do a pump and dump?

In my opinion it is some newcomers to steemit who want to get in to SP and were panicked into moving faster than expected by a price rise. The rest are speculators who are betting the trend will continue.

I find it strange how 10.000 people ( that's the new active users in the last couple of weeks) can double the market cap in just a couple of days. We are talking about a 700 million dollars increase in market cap in just a few days. Also the 24 hour volume increased by about 80 million. If you divide 80 million by 10.000 you get 8.000 dollars per new users. That's a lot of money no matter where you live. Let's say that a lot of that money comes from speculators. Even an average of 1000 dollars per new user is a lot to invest in something you don't even understand.
I hope you're not annoyed by my insistence on this subject :) I just think that larger forces are preparing to capitalize on something big that is about to happen and the numbers paint that picture.

Regards stemiansVery useful information, but not all bloggers only expect steem power in bloggers, but it is because an article is really helpful and useful for novice bloggers @swissclive can I translate into Bahasa (Indonesia) on my blog? to be useful for steemit users in my country.

Please feel free to translate. A link back to my a blog would be appreciated as the original source. Also a re-steem would be useful.

Steem is already on two of the most famous exchanges, poloniex and bittrex!! All it needs now is to get listed on coinbase and that's it!!

THIS is so crazy - I remember us both joining at around the same time - Seems (I didn't doubt before today to be honest) like it has payed off as we can be part of this as we are reaching new heights! Keep flauwyng ;)
P.S.: Would you mind posting the Dtube Image you are using in your thumbnails?

I don't understand your question about thumbnails. I don't use Dtube...

you are absolutely right, thanks to the fact that new users are connected, there is growth. It is pleasant to all people that others take their attention, it gives pleasure. Not only paying attention to others you get a reward in the form of upvote and it is doubly pleasant and profitable for everyone.
But there is such a type of blog as yours. That is, in the first place you post a lot of useful material that is useful to read, and most importantly it is very interesting and for yourself you can take a lot.
Secondly, it's that you make wonderful and interesting contests, so people want to participate in them. Your activity brings a lot of variety to the platform and unites users. You create interest and unite us together, it's great.
In the third it is a good financial aid in the form of upvote, which motivates to strive to do better, it motivates to consolidation and communication with other users and the main thing is it motivates us to love Steemit even more.
And the main thing is when you look at how the cost of STEEM and SBD increases, then a smile appears on your face and joy in your soul :)
    thank you

I think there is an upsurge in users and also in returning users. It's worth being careful with the definition of the numbers though and what they mean. There aren't 300,000 regular active users of the blockchain - the number is still much lower, although it is increasing.

@swissclive very interesting article for me to know how the performance of steemit, The part I like best about the articles you share is when you say that having lots of STEEM on your profile gives you more authority. even though I'm new in steam, this is absolutely true. It reminds me that we must work hard to maintain our leadership and gain more followers as we grow as we grow in steem power. like Presidential election. LOL

That’s a good well thought out reply. It’s the first thing you ever wrote on Steemit under this name. My radar says our paths have crossed before under a different steemit name?

No matter if that happened. I wish you good luck.

Continue commenting well like this and soon people will start to look at your blogs and maybe follow you if they like what they read. It takes a lot of high quality work and time before followers arrive. I know. My first blogs were excellent but earned only 1 cent and had less than 10 views. Please also take the time to help other newbies in their approach - avoiding spam comments, and good writing techniques. The whales can’t do it all. There are only a few whales and tens of thousands of newbies and sadly only a small number of newbies write high quality stuff, so whales tend not to look before you have built reputation.

RegardsThank you @swissclive i'm glad you gave me feedback and suggestion, but diferent names with email are listed because the email belongs to my husband, but his account is mine. So what should i do? Please teach me

This is nothing to do with adoption from new users. It's because all the alts are being pumped in turn.

Wow, that was an amazing graph! Was too busy to notice during the holidays, what a nice surprise... So happy to be invested in this community!
Feels like when I joined Facebook in 2007 knowing only 2-3 users that were using it (I live in Greece - it arrived late here), and then more, more and eventually EVERYONE hopped in!
By the way, @swissclive, remember discussing about this growth potential under your last blog (50k to 50m)? The surge is coming much earlier than we expected... hehe

Steemit with 30'000 daily users is tiny compared to Facebooks 1.2 billion daily users. Some of them are likely to come to steemit just to escape the annoying ads.

It's amazing that you foresaw it!
Do you think the price of steem will stay up?
Also, I think sometime people just open other accounts, power them up, and vote themselves,. I think voting one self is great, as a mean to get more attention and get more power, but doing it out of a fake account is somewhat deceiving. What's your opinion in the matter?

It's a free world. Vote for you or vote for me. I try to share my votes around. You can see how much people vote for themselves by visiting http://www.steemreports.com/outgoing-votes-info/ In my case it is 3.3%. There are others where it is much more than 50%.

Oh, it came acrose wrongly 😒 I think voting yourself is fine! But creating new user only to vote for you is weird... Does people actualy do that?

Nice post. You article inspired me to publish too on how and why the value of steemit will increase. Hope you'll enjoy :) Best, J.

    wonderful post... thanks for sharing

@rithue (48) That was a very short comment which looks spammy.

If you want to prosper then you need to work on improving your comments (I looked at your other comments in other blogs. Tjhey are all short and add nothing to the debate. ). You need to engage more in the debate about the topic. Also, I strongly recommend reading the following:

Steem top rise up, very good sharing, I like your post, thanks for sharing
    Happy new year 2018
    All the best

I wish Binance, for example, will add Steem. It will really help Steemit growth in my opinion and it will make the price even higher than it already is.

I love waking up and seeing 6.4$ Steem, ITS AMAZING! what a start for 2018.

posting is very extraordinary and very useful once.
but I would like to ask you one opinion, what is your prediction about bitcoin prices in early 2018 and by the end of 2018, is it more expensive or vice versa,
    What is your opinion?

This explains my whole understanding of this ...

Oh, an exploding hobbit. That is a funny interpretation of steems rise, but when I look at the picture I start to see the connection.

Angry whales letting off steem leads to price surge!

    Thanks for your sharing!

I don't know about the people moving from Facebook to Steemit. I've been on here about a week and I still don't really understand how Steemit works. But I hope you are right and that Steem keeps going up. Though I have very little of it right now.

    Great analysis, Easy to understand.

HODL!!! Don't piss your crypto away gambling, like I do. :-P

If posting in a different language than the blog, it would be helpful if you use google translate to also add an English translation.
