I feel like the answer is E: all of the above.
Even as a new user I see some massive flaws in the system.
I really like the concept behind Steemit, but the execution is lacking quite a bit.. and I am sure they don't want to be embarrassed by a group of peers.
Sad to see a team blowing it and wasting something that could have been globally adopted.
