I totally agree. I also think instead of focusing on getting a whale vote it is better to focus on growing and building your own micro-community. I am friends with several whales that earned that titled and didn't buy it and that is the one thing they all have in common they have built their own micro communities.
So focus on bring those you know to the platform and find people you have similar interests with that already use the platform. Post and comment daily and anyone can slowly grow into a whale themselves.

great point you made in bringing folks to the platform. that's what I'm trying to do as well. friends and family. it is hard though...a few things hurting it is the long wait time to be approved. I have 4 friends and my wife that have signed up...my wife is on 2 weeks now waiting for that email. they need to fix that shit asap. that's a big turnoff. I hype up the idea and platform and then folks are waiting to get on...losing interest. but I think if that is fixed and people can get on right away that could help. also maybe a referral system? something to reward bringing new users here? ill also say this, ive spent a lot less time on facebook since ive been on here the last month.
