Steem Ocean provides insights into voter behaviour on the Steem blockchain. Every day new data is published that helps us understand who is doing what with the rewards pool - More tools will be added in the near future too...
Today's focus is the top 10 biggest payouts from self-voting on the Steem blockchain.
Data is collected from a 1 week period, 2 weeks prior to the current date.
Self Voting is an inherent feature of Steem, we can all vote up our own posts and that's one of the benefits of holding Steem Power. No comment is made here regarding the acceptability of the data being presented, there is no judgement - just the facts.
All figures are presented in SBDs.

I can't look at this kind of post it make me wants to leave Steem :(
Thank you so much for publishing theses anyway and taking care of our beautiful ocean full of greed....
good post @ura-soul. It's interesting to see those figures in context. what else is steemocean coming up with I wonder ? I humbly add my relatively small 100% vote to this post ;)
Thanks! You can see the voter ranking tables and breakdowns of voter data on Steem Ocean currently. The next feature to be added will be more information on downvoting and downvoted posts. Next up is... You'll have to stay tuned! ;)
it's really cool, I just had a look ! you just nabbed my one remaining witness slot. keep up the excellent work. you're in good company there ;) My witness voting work is complete
oh great, thanks! for some reason though I am only seeing an un-approval vote for me - maybe you were voting for me already and accidentally unvoted? I'm not sure, but it would be great if you'd double check the status of your vote. cheers!
very useful information
I will follow you and information from you,
i am a newcomer in steemit, please help methanks @ura-soul
I wish I could get one of those votes per month haha. Steemit is mimicking the real world, no matter how little it costs you to help others, you will always make sure you get the biggest piece of the pie. Not saying there's anything wrong with taking care of yourself first, after all we are here to make money but the disparity is growing more and more daily
The wealth gap of the 'real world' is fairly accurately replicated here, yes.
Wowzer. That's an eye opener!
and he's making thousands by upvoting.
Hmmmm
Roughly about half a million USD per year (or more if the crypto goes up in value)!
Look at that #1, a true champion.

Congratulations to them. Hopefully I'll make the list someday.
Hello, I am relatively new to steemit. After seeing this good post, I tried to follow the links to learn more about the top 10 voters' behaviour at Steem Ocean. To my limited understanding, most of them should have done self-upvote immediately after their own post or comment. This make the rewards share mostly back to the author (i.e. self-upvoters themselves). But in some cases, there is still a signicant part of the reward (closed to 20-25%) shared to other "mysterious" curators. And those groups of curators seem following the self-upvoter to make further upvote on a regular basis... In fact, I still do not understand fully about the steemit ecosystem. But your post and Steem Ocean are really useful and essential for further analysis. Thank you so much.
Curation is essentially rewards for upvoting early. The idea is to find posts you think are good and to upvote them before others do, to be paid a 'finders fee' for that post which comes out of the 25% of the final payout for the post that goes to curators.
Thank you for the article. Thanks to your information, there is a great desire to follow these people and learn from them. You can write more information - how did these people get such excellent results?
Large payouts from self upvoting requires nothing more than a high amount of steem power in your wallet.
I was wondering about the acceptability of voting up your own. Though, I still don't understand where the "money" comes from. I need to study more.
the rewards payouts come from new tokens that are created every day as part of the inflationary nature of the system. Therefore, the price of steem is directly related to the amount of money available to pay out post rewards.
I think I understand it now. I was stuck on the "mining" concept of Bitcoin, but the mining function is done differently here, and apparently mitigated by other factors, not just a simple function. And, I take it, it all depends upon speculators will to give dollars, or whatever, for STEEM, unless you just want to collect STEEM.
