Make Money on Steemit From Your First Day
Many people come here and write a blog, they put their heart into it, it makes 2 cents and they quit. These days unless your introduceyourself post is by a hot female you probably won't start off with a bang (this is going to be a super honest blog). That's just the way it is, don't cry, don't despair, this isn't an indication of how Steemit will be for you.
While you should do the intro blog with a picture and holding the obligatory sign, not cashing in on that is okay, it's normal, I can't remember what my intro made but it was discouraging. I hardly ever look at the introduceyourself posts these days.
It's All About The Comments
Now you wrote a blog it didn't make any money, so what do you do? It's easy: you comment on other people's blogs. The "New" section is pretty much useless. Go to Hot and go to Trending. Comment on those posts, and concentrate on accounts with a high reputation score, (60) or over is ideal. Now there are accounts with (50) rep or lower who still have large amounts of steem power, and therefore a large vote, but I have found your best bet is commenting on high reputation accounts. Also check out the other comments on the post, are they highly voted? And highly voted by the person who wrote the blog? Scroll over it and see. Also note that a post with 500 comments that is 4 days old is not a good one either, people forget about old posts and they run low on voting power. If you are an early comment you are more likely to get noticed.
Spam Is For Lunch Not For Comments
It should go without saying, but I will say it: Don't spam comment. Read the blog and make an intelligent comment on it's contents. Commenting "good information" or some other such generic bot type comment will probably get ignored. People have written comment bot scripts that say nice photo or nice art on all the posts in the photography or art sections, you really need to make a good comment and prove you are a real person. Comments also lead to solid friendships, the other day I wrote out a long comment on a post by a whale and he went and voted up my last three blogs with fat upvotes and followed me.
The price of steem went up today, my vote at full power is freaking 26 cents from last weeks 14 cents. That means whale votes went up quite substantially in the last few days. I almost feel like I am wasting time writing this blog because I should be commenting on whale posts. Commenting on steemit has never been better.
So now you spent three days commenting your little heart out, it's time to start planning for the future. Go look at the comments you have made. The ones that made money you should now subscribe to the user who voted for your comment. This will make your newsfeed full of blogs by people who pay commenters. When I started Steem I traded "follow for follow" and it's a terrible idea. My feed was full of posts with no value, I had to scroll past endless 2 cent posts with people who didn't have enough voter power to vote up my comments. It's not worth it just for another person to follow you. Make the people you follow a valuable list. It takes forever to scroll thru your list of people you follow to get rid of dead accounts, almost all successful accounts here have very high followers > people they follow ratio.
But Viraldrome What Do I Do With All This Money?
So now you got a few SBD from your commenting, I recommend buy a big fat vote with them. If you have two SBD and you pay for a buildawhale vote you get the money back and profit. You can just cash out SBD, those 2 SBD are worth 20 bucks plus depending on when you read this. If you just want to make money on Steemit feel free to trade out the SBD for Litecoin/ETH/Rippple. Some people just do this, and its easy money. But if you buy whale votes your rep score goes up fast and your steem power goes up and you move up in the world of Steemit. If you can get a high whale vote fast you can get on the trending page which will bring in more votes, hopefully. And always remember if you bought a big vote for a shitblog you may not benefit. You can't escape the fact your blog needs to be quality. Anyone can take a bunch of good pictures and make a great blog even if your language skills aren't good.
Now there are many dozen off Steem sites like discord and voting sites where people have success. You will eventually probably have to do this if you want to get above a certain level. I've been stuck at same mid 50s rep for a while so I am really only giving you beginners advice. My next guide will cover some of those topics and curation, but for now I'm going to comment! Upvotes are nice but show me you learned something in comment section below

This is a great guide! I'm still a little confused about the whole system of steem power/votes/dollars though. Why is it so complicated lol
Steem and SteemDollars are liquid like cash, they can be transferred and exchanged anytime. Steem Power is Vested Steem, locked in to increase the value of your vote. Different factors effect your Rep but increasing Steem Power to over 150 is very important for the newest user! Claim 50/50 rewards.
I didnt know you dont get 50/50 until 150 steem
i have 600 steempower thats why i can give your comment a decent vote like this. Its around have steempower half SBD approximately. Its hard to explain I have a hard time getting my friends to join because i suck at explaining it
Thanks for the tips! I will definitely start implementing the ideas you suggested. Looking for high reputation posts.
I'm going to go on a comment frenzy I think
Great post man I have been meaning to try this a little more as I have noticed I have earned a little from comments lately .
This is great man!!! I suppose the best way to learn is to take advise from successful people and actually do something with it. I’m not sure what the heck is going on, but I’m willing to learn and take advice. Thanks!!!!
You are right on the money about comments. I am not much of a writer so I almost never make my own posts. I really enjoy commenting on posts I like though and it is a great way to interact with the community.
Alright!! SteemTeam #Alberta
I can send a car for you, I pick up VIPs at YYC every week!
Great article. Its really awesome how many different ways there are to produce income on this platform. I agree with you the comments create a great opportunity. Cheers.

Wooow, I think this Post is very helpful, but I don’t really get how I can send SBD to someone. Moreover what is a memo field?
This post has received a 0.6 % upvote from @boomerang thanks to: @viraldrome

Very nicely written. I will remember to keep to the higher rep posters' blogs. I've been looking at the new posts mostly but I am even figuring out that they don't do much.
Thanks for the informative article!
