It's Hard to Earn Steem - Excellent

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

We read the posts all of the time.

"My post gets lost", "Nobody Votes for Me", "I can't get visibility", "the Whales will not vote for me"... etc.

Earning Steem is Hard

It is hard and I am glad!

This is a good thing, nobody values what they get easily or for free.  Yes, if you compare your post value to those on the trending page it might create feelings of competition, frustration and jealousy.  At the end of the day, the harder it is to earn Steem the more value it holds.

I don't know where you heard about Steem or what was said to you about it, but it is much more than making a post and waiting for people to upvote it.  Most of our whales are not sitting at a computer wading through the "New" tab looking for fantastic articles to upvote.

It is your job to figure out how to get your fantastic content upvoted and there are many ways to achieve it.  No, it isn't nor will it ever be all about "Quality".  You can't just post your content and wait.

It is your job to get discovered nobody is going to search for you, find you and make sure you are earning and if that is your vision of Steem you are likely going to get frustrated.  There is no easy button and Steem isn't some alternative universe with different economic laws.  It takes investment to make money anywhere you go.  The investment might be time grinding or terrific content or money, but there will have to be something that makes you stand out and be different from all the rest of the posts and that attracts special interest in your post.

The front-ends are coming and they provide many different forms of content, videos, live streams, memes, photography, news articles, etc.  These front-ends might help you to find people with similar interests.

Earning Steem Is Hard and I am glad.  It is not going to get easier, it is going to get even harder.

i have seen few steemians coming and going.
The level of understanding is not gravitating toward a building process.
Best way around you need to be no plankton to survive.
Put value and value will follow you.
Write great posts.
Keep on steemin'

But my mommy and daddy said that I'm special and life has always been easy and I'm supposed to be showered with prosperity because I am so good and I'm supposed to be rich because I am me! How dare you tell me otherwise?!

Now, now, please don't cry. The problem, lil'un, is that you're not special. It's me who is special! Now shove some appreciation my way in the form of monetary compensation. Thank you very much.

O, queen of all, my tribute has been paid.

I don’t know matt-a I think we all need to get into the selling bricks game. I mean just look at this video I found the other day on YouTube. She did not even need her parents to tell her she was special and going be rich. Why the 1$ bills behind the 100$ sure are doing that!

I guess in this world there are people who go out and do and those who just spend to much dang time on YouTube.

Thanks for leaving such a funny comment heheh :)

Well, your mom still thinks you are special, but unless she holds some steem power that isn't going to help! :) lol

Tell Joe Momma to buy some steem power wi dem food stamps! lmao

It is not going to get easier, it is going to get even harder.

I think that a lot of people don’t realize that only about 65,000 Steem are created in a day and that only part of that ends up in the reward pool. That is going up only by 9% per year at a time when the number of users is going up ballparkish 9% per month.

Steem could become much harder to earn.

If it will be harder to get, its value should get higher according to it, right?

I believe current problem is most people stick to conderser which is something similar to Wikipedia, people gotta dig to find what they are looking for (this needs to happen in 7 days frame) and main pages(popular/hot) are easily flooded with nonsense, there is no easy way to build a community at the moment.

All those other platforms are not helpful either. Actually, it's not even hard to earn Steem in the current situation, it's just hard to do it in your own way. You can join a group of greedy people and vote for each other with a little help of bid-bots and ta-da. You just get an upvote from those D-series platforms.

I don't think this is a healthy way to grow a decentrilized/free community in here...

I believe we just need long-term investors who believe in steem's potential and some solid developers.

If people value it and don't want to sell it, the price goes up! It is a good thing people are fighting over it.

Yeah, the idea that you just make a post and wait to earn. It is getting a lot of people frustrated. It is hard now and it is going to be harder.

The front-ends are coming

Reminds me of Paul Revere. 🤗

As hard as spending money in your own wallet ;)

It is not hard at least not yet. Lets check in again in 3 months, a year, 5 years.

So many ways to get noticed here and earn here. Granted over time as people notice them and try them out naturally those who adopt early in trying new things will move on. While those who are always a day late will carry on being a day late.

If I was not so lazy I would be taking advantage of so many more opportunity. But I am a cat after all. Oh the humans.

Well Said ## Thank you.

It is all about mindset. Many people rather make excuses than take responsibility and action.

I am a newbie here and instead of going on all the wales blogs and asking for upvotes or reshares. (I have no right to do that.)

I rather post my articles, then just roam around looking at what others are doing. When I find a post that I truely like and find value I upvote and maybe follow. If it really aligns with my blog I resteem.

I much rather praise someone for what they do than push my ego onto others.

Sorry for the little rant. Thank you again. Following.

Nice!

ATM it's not difficult to get upvoted, but it's way more difficult to get a serious payout. You can build your support network, but your upvotes are only as good as collective SP. Whales don't care shit I agree, so you have to power up and wade through to make it in whatever way is effective for you. Basically you need to set up your own money-printing machine like the whales did and then you just post some random crap 10 times a day to get your ROI. No problem.

Ohh bro!! it is all truth what you say!! agree!!

No, it isn't nor will it ever be all about "Quality". You can't just post your content and wait.

You really need to do NETWORKING that's what will set your blog in fire.

The investment might be time grinding or terrific content or money, but there will have to be something that makes you stand out and be different from all the rest of the posts and that attracts special interest in your post.

Exactly like that!!

you have to "impress" people to get their upvotes. or make some meaningful through which you may "deserve" those votes among all the people wanting them too.

I agree with you earn or make money is not easy

Certainly it will get harder as the price goes up. However, I think the platform could easily overtake Facebook if most users were able to get even a few cents every day. That would be really awesome for all of us early adopters.

I think they will be able to, if they have a network of other small accounts upvoting them. They should worry about getting votes from their peers and not the trending page. :) IMO.

I'd love Steem to become hard to get too, but later :)) Lol, I'm busy investing right now! Grow, grow, my little vest shares!

I'm sad that it's so hard to get found. When I used to campaign for myself, I used to get some very interesting votes, since people seemingly tend to love my writings a lot... when they see them... which is almost never recently because as you say, it's hard, and I've been a bit burnt out of socializing on Steemit.

So I wish it'd stand still favourably at least until I can get 1000 SP :3 Wait for me, little blockchain! I'm not done farming you!

Technology doesn't wait! :) Better get back to farming!

It is definetly hard at first - I have been here working hard for over 2 months now and only just starting to gain some traction. A huge part people miss is that this is a SOCIAL MEDIA platform - that means being social and engaging with other peoples content.
There are loads of cool people on here who will have stuff in common with you but you have to find them! I spend loads of time just reading other people blogs and engaging and alot of the time they will follow and engage back with your blog. I agree nobody is going to find you - you hav e to be active and do it yourself

Everything in this post is perfect. Many people don't realize that you can not just sit back and watch the rewards roll in. You have to actually work for it. Steemit is its very own job, if you want to be successful. I liked your honesty in the last sentence too. So many see this as easy money and I am really not sure who told them that. I need to add Steemit to my employment, it is hard work to get seen around here! I don't want to imagine it getting harder but I know it will. Hopefully by then I won't be a tiny fish anymore. This is the one time in life that I actually want to be big and fat, lol 🐟

Playing the game on Steemit, it is not just about content creating, but also content marketing.

Although the fact that earning Steem becomes more difficult seems to me to be a a matter a bit conflictive, it is good because it makes users struggle to provide better content to have their rewards, but at the same time makes those who fail to succeed leave the platform. And this is a social media.

Depends on the approach we want for the platform, if we want it to go viral, maybe this is not a very hopeful fact. We have to see what happens with SMT.

People have the right to post, not to earn. If they leave... They weren't who we were looking to attract.

А люди иногда хотят кушать! И им надо где то спать?? Или как??

истинные люди не спят

The very same words hold true for all aspects of life. We will never be 'the' best writer, photographer, singer, comedian etc. It is more important to go out and find like minded people than it is to create content in the first place.

Make friends, not followers

I'm agreeing with the idea of some level of difficulty making STEEM worth more. I'm a minnow, but even I have a hard time figuring out what some people think or hope they should accomplish here with a few words and an image or a meme they most likely lifted from somewhere else.

I don't know what everyone else heard about Steemit, but I'm sure it doesn't line up with reality here. But there's more that goes on here and that needs to be done to make things happen than "Come for the money, stay for the community" or whatever else the motto is now.

Easy probably isn't the word, but intuitive might be. And neither is automated, but there's things that we need to know now that we probably really don't need to know, or if we do, have a better structure for getting the information.

So, while I get a little tired of the whining myself, even if I'm doing it, there are some things that really should be better or changed. We all know that. I'm just adding my affirmation of the obvious. :)

There are things being done. SMTs are coming communities are developing with and without steemit, inc. The frontend sucks. Hopefully, someone will develop another one.
There always has been and will be a disparity in content and rewards. You should search for the original Steem Make-up video. :)

Yeah, I get annoyed with the whining, but I did some of it too while I was a minnow. :) I get it.

theuxyeti is working on a fuller featured UI design that he calls sweetsteem. You've probably heard of that. He's been trying to get some people who will do blockchain work so he can actually connect to it. I hope he gets it. What I've seen of what he's been doing is way above what we've got to work with now.

I sure hope that SMTs work out like they say they will. Hopefully, they're pouring in quite a bit of time and expertise on those since it's not happening here yet.

i love hardships and i am trying one day i will handsome earning from steemit

In the vast ocean of steem, some gems are loaded with dust and algae and cannot be discovered by anybody. But time will adjust everything. Only one earthquake will be enough to bring that gem to the shore.

Good reflection about getting upvoted or not, specially on the quality part, there is lot of people with quality posts or at least more than mine that are "ignored" because they don't interact with other users or communities.

Personally I interact with two communities in English and one in Spanish as I post in both languages.

People has to understand that if they are interested in other people posts then other people may be interested on theirs!

You are right, earn money here isn't easy, it needs time, dedication and a lot of work to make high quality post, also needs a lot of investment t get nice profits.

Excellent words, it is really rare to see quality content in the trends tab, I will not say that everything is bad but that you have to be more judicious in those topics.

For example, in the platform in Spanish is the account of @Cervantes with its partners looking for and rewarding with upvotes that content that is worth seeing.

You are very right in your words.

I'm glad too. Cause if it was easy, it would have lost it's value.

well said . what you said is so true . we have to give our best . I am not even a minnow but by 2019 second quarter I will become a dolphin. every whale was a minnow except the one who invested huge.

great information
i will follow you

I would say there's a lot of people searching for you, mostly for their profit, but that's life, another great post, I'm glad I found you on this ocean, keep it up.
