RE: Day 10 - Steem Advent Calendar 2017, Win prize everyday! 🎄🎁

in #steemadvent7 years ago

I live in Pakistan and a muslim, so never celebrated Christmas but I remember one incident that I would like to share with you guys.

I guess it was 2010, my frinds and I were in a college to complete our final projects and suddenly we saw one of the custodians Yousaf crying like a child. He never knew that we were sitting as the classes were over and we were the only ones who were there. We went to him, asked him what happened and he told us his story that made us sad. He had been saving money from his salary from the last six months, to buy some clothes shoes for her only lovely daughter and all of those savings he had were spent on his wife’s medical treatment who was suffering from hepatitis. And not just savings, he took loans on a higher rate of interests and now unable to pay them. Being students, we had a few bucks in our pockets, gave them to him but he refused to accept them. Total loan was around PKR 70000 which is equivalent to 700 dollars approximately. One of my friends motivated all of us to help this poor man and made his Christmas day free of all tensions. We had one week, so we started a campaign. Went to each and every class, asked them to contribute some money and many of them even sold their precious things for this noble cause. On 24th of December, we had around 48000 PKR. Early in the morning, we went to his house, gave her princess some lovely gifts like shoes, clothes etc and gave 48000 to him to repay his loan. Being a christain, he never expected such a great help from Muslim students and cried like a child again but this time he was happy. It took him almot 7 to 8 months to repay his remaining loan.
