My earliest memory of a Christmas song is Away in a Manger which we sang at infant school in UK (kindergarten to lots of other people). It is a very beautiful and simple song which has stuck with me ever since. Although I am not a religious person, but every time I hear Away in a Manager, my memories always wander back to the house where I used to live when I was a young child, when my parents were still alive, when my siblings and I were playing out on the street. Perhaps this is another case of where childhood memories are the sweetest, an indulgence that I enjoy for a few weeks every year.
Away in a manger is a quite a high note tune and my singing is awful, so I don't want to ruin it. Here is an online version that I want to share with everyone, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Singing that song is one of my earliest memories, too. To me, it was a song about a sweet little baby, not about religion.
It was our childhood sweet memories singing together with a large numbers of friends and classmate.. those happy days is a innocent part of our happy life.
