Steem Basic Income
Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.
Many of our members use the #steembasicincome tag for their contests, so check there for contests that we might not have resteemed!
Still Going Strong
We are up to six pools, so your upvotes could come from @steembasicincome, @sbi2, @sbi3, @sbi4, @sbi5, or @sbi6. We currently have 1874 members that have posted within the last 28 days, and many more members that have not. Unfortunately the members that are not posting are not receiving upvotes. There are currently 9902 'shares' in the program, and it grows every day.

All members that upvote consistently are rewarded with a bonus increase in their voting weight. To get the best benefit, we recommend using @steemvoter, @steemauto, or Streemian.
Our new enrollment processing system is in final testing, which will make it much easier to process enrollments, provide regular updates, and manage voting rules more consistently. Already we've seen enough benefit from it to provide more regular updates and still keep up with enrollments. I'm looking forward to the improvements that will come with full automation!
Enrollment
If you want to get involved, or to increase the share of basic income that you receive, enrollment is pretty straightforward:
any active Steemian, it does not have to be a current member.Just send 1 STEEM to @steembasicincome. Include the name of a Steemian to sponsor in the transaction memo (preceded by @). You and the person you sponsor will each receive 1 share in the program. You can sponsor

The official currency for enrollment is STEEM. We accept SBD at our discretion (usually when they're very close, or when SBD is stronger) but you do not receive extra value or any partial refund for paying in SBD instead of STEEM. If we choose to accept an SBD enrollment, we accept the entire amount. If we choose to reject it, we refund the entire amount and request you to send STEEM instead.

thanks for coming up with a concept like this.. it gives us some "reward" for posts that would otherwise be dust blown by the wind.
My vote is pretty small, but this is definitely a worthy program, and it seems to be helping a lot of newcomers.

In my last transfer there was @@@username included, does that pose a problem, or is that error catched by the automatic system (it does work now, right?)

Actually, we're still testing it, and it has been down 2 days, but I think it's unrelated. There is no reason the extra @ should be a problem for it, but I will check with the development team.
Interestingly, steemit makes 3 @ out of the 2 @ I have written

So if I donated 5sbd to you yesterday does that mean today I have enrolled and received 5shares in SBI?
If you sent 5 SBD, it will be returned to you when I process that batch. Our official enrollment currency is STEEM, and we are not currently accepting SBD.

You don't have to use any particular tags. Our systems will upvote your posts in whatever tags you're already using.
If you're hosting contests, we encourage you to use #steembasicincome so that people can find them easily.

I love this concept and have 9 shares. I was wonder why the upvote % of 3% lately was just lowered to 2% on my posts. Is there a driver of that adjustment you could please share, or is it a function of something changing in the dynamics?
Also, per the spreadsheets, is there a reason my 9 shares don't get much more than someone with far less... or even that people with only 2 get a much higher upvote % than me?
You just started posting more. Important for you is not the green underlayed voting strength per post, but your weekly weight. The last column on your screenshot.
The others are receiving a higher vote per post but less in summary per week.

@steemmatt, he is correct; it's because of changes in your posting frequency. We try to keep rules current, but sometimes adjustments can lag a little, so it's also possible that your posting frequency increased a little longer ago and your weights are finally catching up.

I joined and sponsored SBI today. Great idea! As an FYI I recently read this post by @thedarkhorse related to the "dust rule" for upvoting comments and a discovery head made related to .02 not being worth anything on comment upvotes. This is a substantial flaw for project like SBI that need volume to function. People (most people) with low SP should only be upvoting posts if they want their SP to make a difference. Thanks! We're familiar with the dust rule. For most members, our vote is enough to exceed the dust threshold. As a rule of thumb, if each member has at least 1 share per post for their weekly posting frequency (e.g. post once weekly = 1 share, post 10x weekly = 10 shares) then their SBI votes will always exceed the dust threshold. We have only a few members that are being hurt by it.
In the fully automated system we are developing, we will check whether our upvotes exceed the dust threshold and skip posts for more active members until the vote would be above the threshold. (So people who post a lot will not see an upvote on every post, but they won't lose any of their upvote value as dust, either.)
Love my daily SBI upvote. It's something to look forward to when your a plankton, or any other fish or mammal. 🐡🐋
