RE: Steem Basic Income - Member Upvotes Drive Sustainability

in #steembasicincome7 years ago (edited)

I love this concept and have 9 shares. I was wonder why the upvote % of 3% lately was just lowered to 2% on my posts. Is there a driver of that adjustment you could please share, or is it a function of something changing in the dynamics?

Also, per the spreadsheets, is there a reason my 9 shares don't get much more than someone with far less... or even that people with only 2 get a much higher upvote % than me?

You just started posting more. Important for you is not the green underlayed voting strength per post, but your weekly weight. The last column on your screenshot.
The others are receiving a higher vote per post but less in summary per week.

Frequency and Vote Strength
Frequency 1 and Frequency 2 are different measures of the member's posting frequency. Frequency 1 is weekly average over 28 days (total posts in last 28 days, divided by 7). Frequency 2 is the member's actual posting frequency in the last 7 days. A green square indicates the member had not posted within 7 days (as of the last data pull). For the upvote weight per post calculations, we use the greater of the 2 frequencies to protect against member's varying their posting patterns to to game the system. Vote strength is then calculated by dividing their weekly weight across their posting frequency. It is capped at 100 per post, since we cannot upvote a post at greater than 100%
Formula = min(N2/max(O2,P2),100) = weekly weight / (max of frequency 1 and frequency 2), capped at 100

You have published 23 posts in the last week, which lowers the vote per post, but you are still receiving roughly the same per week from steembasicincome.

Thanks, @takowi! That's a great analysis and application of our formulas.

@steemmatt, he is correct; it's because of changes in your posting frequency. We try to keep rules current, but sometimes adjustments can lag a little, so it's also possible that your posting frequency increased a little longer ago and your weights are finally catching up.
