Patience ability to accept delay, annoyance or suffering without complaining. For the purpose of this study, patience is having the capacity to wait on a person or thing. Patience has to do with waiting on God or His promise amidst delay; without murmuring or complaining.
Patient on His promise, To have patience in your walk with God is to be able to wait on Him or on His promise, even in times of delay, neglect, suffering, affliction etc. Patience keeps you waiting relentlessly or patiently on God who had made a promise to you. What the apostle was simply saying was that it is with patience we wait for the promise of God. God usually tests our patience ability to wait on His word or promises. God tries us through various processes we undergo; such as delay on delivery on His promises, lack or even temptations and persecutions: to the end that we exercise our absolute trust and patience on Him.
Thus, in reacting to this, Apostle Paul echoed: Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
