Hello and welcome to today's topic which I have tagged "Spiritual Leadership In The Home". Last time out in one of my posts on my blog, I did talk about developing the leader in you. If you have not read it, you can still take some time to check it out in the link below.

In that topic, I did say a lot of things about leadership and shed some lights about leadership in the family. The family unit is a very important unit that we cannot shy away from. We begin with the husband and wife, then we have children, then those children grow up marry outsiders and the family tree goes on and on.
Arguements have been on about equality between the man and the woman. However the Bible has told us explicitly that all humans are Gods creation and they have been created equal. However in the home, God has also directed that there should be a head. Making it more clearly, there should be a spiritual head and a leader all rounder. He is the head not as a dictator but one who takes all suggestions from all parties (wife and children) and make a reasonable conclusion. Collosians 3 vs 18-19 says;
18 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
19 Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
This is the command from God. God has made man the spiritual head of the home and he is designed to make provisions for all the spiritual and physical need of the home. However, the woman is not designed to be resting . She is designed to assist the husband in his endeavours. As a man who is married, the only best advisor you have is your wife. You will be very foolish to disregard her suggestions. This is because that's what she is designed to do. She is a help mate. Therefore, the fact that the man is the spiritual head of the home and the woman is the help mate , it doesn't mean that the woman and the man are in different league. You may just see it that there roles in the home differs.
The problem with spiritual leadership in the home and leadership in the home in general is when the man and the woman are not in phase. When they don't agree concerning almost everything. Perhaps if they are truly sticking to their promise of for better for worse, it won't really be a problem ad they will seat together to analyse situations and in the long run in harmony bring out meaningful suggestions that will lead to the progress of the home.
Just as like @Sirknight replied in my last post on leadership, the major quality of a good leader is followership . Everyone just wants to be In a situation where they are calling the shots. But it doesn't always have to be like that. Christ is the head of the home and the man is the spiritual head of the Family unit. But as a man ,.you are supposed to model your leadership style after Jesus. Servant leadership is best style leadership you can adopt. When Christ was on Earth, He went about doing so many great things undermining Himself. He paid less attention to Himself and His skin and it was all about the people that were having challenges. It is a privilege to have a family and it is your responsibility to make sure you take care of them in all areas of life. Mathew 20 vs 25-28 says;
25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Therefore, as a man, you may want to ask...how exactly should I act as the spiritual head of the home?..Am I supposed to be the person in charge of preaching the gospel in the home just like pastors in the church?..... However, let me make it clear here that your responsibility as a man are much. You are not only to preach the gospel but serve as a guide to your children using Christ as a model. You are to train up your children in the way they should go, you are to provide for their physical and emotional needs, you are to encourage them day in day out, you are to guide and guard them against any harm and so on.
Therefore, as a man and the head of the home, you must have a very strong relationship with God. Draw all your ideas and strenght with the leading of that Holyspirit. You are to understand that you cannot rule all by yourself and must therefore invite Christ into your home. As a man you must learn not only to get to the bridge before settling challenges but have the ability to think ahead and give solutions to problems even before getting to the bridge.
Therefore, you must make sure you watch whatever you do. In all you do, you must show honesty and show strong morals as your are the eye of the home. You must make decisions that will be beneficial to you and your family and take care of their welfare. You can imput morning devotions to your timetable in a bid to bring the family together.

Among the elders, some are to focus on preaching and teaching God’s Word (1 Tim. 5:17). They are called pastor-teachers and their responsibility is to equip God’s saints for the work of ministry (Greek, Eph. 4:11-12). In that role, they carry on the work that these priests should have been doing in Malachi’s day. To sum up, the prophet shows us:
Well the home is a union and a spiritual institution as well in other words being the spiritual leader in the home takes spiritual maturity, there are always problems arising daily from marriages however how to tackle them rest solely in the cooperation and godliness of such family as well, in a nutshell leadership is very essential in a family and as the bible instructed, wives must submit themselves to the husband in other for the family to thrive as well as grow.

Nothing defines leadership like the "ability to serve". A good leader learns to be a servant to his followers because that's what he is called to do...." To serve". Just like Jesus did to his disciples when He washed their feet and as the early apostles did with the early church, the linking factor is effective spiritual leadership through servitude. People that are raised in a Christian home always possess a significant difference from the people that suffered a negative or poor Christian background during childhood.
This only means that spiritual leadership starts from home. As a father, your attitude is passed to your children and they grow with it. Even so, you also sow a seed in them through your reaction when the do wrong.
