Hunter's comment

I was watching the videos about the product and I think FacePRO is very good for investigative and security purposes. While there are many facial recognition apps out there, most if not all, can recognize faces only if the the subject is in clear view. What is more notable about this FacePRO from Panasonic are the more advanced features that it has with real time facial recognition. Following are the special features that it has while many other apps do not.

  • front face
  • angled face
  • face with sunglasses
  • face with surgical mask
  • aged face

So even if a criminal tries to disguise, this can still catch the fugitive. The software also features an analytics section wherein a user is given the ability to analyse statistic371__QWdlMg-D-.png

Watch this video to see how the features work.

Another video, bear with the caption translation.

Here is another one as use case:

Every street corner of my country is equipped with CCTVs. So when a crime occurs, we analyze CCTV footage and track down criminals. However, most CCTVs are not very good because they have been installed for a long time. FacePRO can recognize a person's face in real time, so it will be a good use. It's interesting to see that the technology we saw in the movies a long time ago is actually being developed and used.

Security is of utmost importance and we all know that breaches to security can cause governments, businesses hefty losses. FacePRO, being able to provide a high precision face recognition along with a high accuracy rate makes it the best product for facial recognition. Also what I liked best about FacePRO is the feature to be able to recognize faces with masks as well - which is pretty outstanding. Nice hunt mate. Cheers.

Thank you.

Our thesis is a face recognition and similar than this. Where it will detect the face of the individual using a surveillance camera on our laboratory. With a standing 90% accuracy is better than our 54% accuracy on our thesis because our surveillance camera has low resolution.

Impressive, what algorithm are you using?

We used Deep Learning for our face recognition system. @chuuuckie :)

I thought vinzie is the one you're referring to as your colleague on your comment. 😊

Oh no, we knew each other. Not personally :P. I never met him 'yet'

This is almost scary accurate. Sometimes even humans are not as good as this. This is great way to catch criminals. it on the other hand we have a worse than 1984 scenario waiting to happen. I have great respect for the smart people who built this tech. This is the culmination of years and years worth research by various developers over the globe each contributing a little more and finally our computers can recognise people sometimes better than even your own mother. That's really cool!!!

An advance face recognition system that can recognize a face even in a 45 degree angle and with sunglasses too. Great for surveillance tool for many industries.

Great tool indeed.

I checked the website, it seems it came also from Panasonic. It seems they are using different algorithm. Just a month ago, we successfully defended our Thesis and my colleagues Thesis and its about facial recognition, they are using the algorithm called, cascading and HAAR method.

Dont dig deep into it, its very complicated to understand, I as well was confused at first.

Congratulations for successfully defending your thesis! 😊

A masterpiece, I must say. Seriously, the issue if security is not one that should be played with. Thanks goodness, this comes handy in ensuring enhancing security via face identification. Awesome find

Ah this girls is so beautiful in screenshot :p XD yep Facepro is an advanced AI technology based face recognition security app since Panasonics involved i can believe on this application.

So even if a criminal tries to disguise, this can still catch the fugitive

yep i have read about its feature that really cool nice finding :)

AwxOme, that looks pretty cool software to see the face on every angle and learn deeply about facial recognition. Then we can know about any face each and everything?

I am not sure if it can detect everything specially if the person is wearing thicker mask, unlike the thin surgical mask. But yes, I agree this is really pretty cool.

Thanks for dropping by. 😊

This looks very professional and accurate. I think it can easily used in security department. It shows detail information.
Nice hunt!

Detailed information indeed.

That can be especially useful for security purposes as wanted criminals tend to disguise. So important to track and catch them.
Awesome Hunt!!!

A high tec face recognition system with more reliable features to unsure that all loop holes are covered. Better surveillance solution for recognizing faces

face recognition has a great importance in today's world as it is necessary and can help out in lots of ways for example the best solution for phone unlocking is face recognition i am using in huawei and its best face recognition ..

A very impressive hunt friend

Good morning @macoolette. Been awhile since I "stopped by," so quickly looked over your blog and chose this one to "drop in" on to comment.

Like so much of technology, I suppose in and of itself, this is neither "good" or "bad." That said, facial recognition and what I read about what is happening in China, for example, is very sobering to this "old" man. So called "automated" services, which you and I with our backgrounds have perhaps a better appreciation of than most, can certainly be applied for good causes. Equally true, they can be applied to purposes for which the average person has no adequate defense.

With you, I hope for the best. Good to "see" my Steemian friend is now a "double dolphin," if there is such a thing. Which means you are definitely more positive about these things than I am. But that is as it should be. The world would be a pretty boring place if we were all the same ...

Hope all is well with you and yours "over there!"

Hi @roleerob! Ir is very nice of you to drop by so thank you! 😊

I appreciate almost all products of technology since these are generally for the good of humanity. The only fear I have is when abuse comes in and technology is used to exploit others. I guess that is when technology becomes evil to the eyes of the exploited though it is not really the technology but the human behind the exploitation.

Double dolphin! I can't help smiling. 😊 I wish I can be an orca... STEEM price is rising so I guess that is a good sign. Though I really hope it drops to its price last December so I can buy more before it skyrockets to the moon. 😊

Do you have a Twitter account? We have a movement going on there to spread awareness of STEEM with the hope to invite more investors into the platform and see steem price rising. If you have a Twitter account I can invite you in. If not, maybe it's time for you to have an account. 😊

I hope you are having a great weekend over there! 😊

Yes @macoolette

”The only fear I have is when abuse comes in and technology is used to exploit others. I guess that is when technology becomes evil to the eyes of the exploited though it is not really the technology but the human behind the exploitation.”

… we have the human behind the creation. And the human behind the exploitation … And maybe in our future, the human who will provide a solution to that … The ancient struggle between “good” and “evil” …

”Double dolphin! I can't help smiling. 😊 I wish I can be an orca... STEEM price is rising so I guess that is a good sign. Though I really hope it drops to its price last December so I can buy more before it skyrockets to the moon. 😊”

Nice to see your enthusiasm. While still active “in here,” I have reached the end of my investment. At least for now. I have the means to be an orca+ via investing, but I need to see some significant improvements in various problem areas before I would even consider it. Against my better judgment, I chose to buy enough when prices were low to become a dolphin. From here, I’ll keep being as supportive as time allows and just earn what I can, when I can …

”Do you have a Twitter account?”

No, never online myself prior to Steem, I am very unlikely to “expand” my online presence. I prefer to invest my time in the “real world,” with those people in my life long before I had ever even heard of the Steem blockchain. As I have said more than once, “Facetime” is more than an app to me. I have really enjoyed the virtual aspect of “meeting” others all over the world, since it almost certainly would never happen otherwise. More than I could have anticipated. But … I try to keep it in perspective …

Wow, just proofreading what I wrote, before clicking “Reply” … 😧 Sounds a bit negative, I suppose, but it is honest. If I did not see enough positive to offset some of these issues, I would already be gone. It is the association with others like you @macoolette, that keep me going. Hope that helps “balance the load” a bit … 😉

I also hope you don’t mind me being “straight up,” as it is not my intent to discourage you. I would love to be proven wrong, in fact. Hopefully, you and others are well on your way to doing just that! 😉

Well, we have two of our grandchildren with us, so soon to be off into my afternoon with them. Until “next time,” take care “over there!” 😊

I don't mind people being straight about their thoughts for as long as it is not intended to pin anyone down. I think I have seen enough negativity on the Steem platform and the list will be long if I have to itemize all of them. And if I do that, I may be out of here before I finish the list. That is the reason why I chose to shrug off and not to stress over the things that are beyond my control.

I invested on the Steem platform because I thought it is better than just putting money in a bank with pittance interest of 1-3% per annum. The difference though is that I have to work on Steem at least on part-time basis to grow my investment. Either that or I'll let those people hustling to market Steem and hope that they will succeed so I can piggy-back with their success. 😊

Besides the investment, yes, I agree with you about knowing true people like you across the world and getting associated with them. I have learn a lot from you folks and I am sure I will be learning more. 😊

Okay, my "double dolphin" friend, glad to know I can speak freely @macoolette. I prefer candor myself, so I hope you will always feel free to "talk straight" with me, as well!

Posted using Partiko Android

Cheers to that! 😊

This kind of stuff scares the poo 0uta' me as all I can think of as it progresses is "Minority Report!"

I haven't watched Minority Report but the poo did the trick! 😂

It is nice product for actual face recognition. This product will be a great help for security agencies to recognize a face. Great hunt.

This looks very useful for security purposes. I agree with you that there are many such apps but non is good but this is what can be used. Thank you

This product is very good as it is an advancement in face recognition technology. Many malls can use this product and this is also effective in security purposes. Nice sharing dear.

This face recognition tool can help find missing persons or even bad people. If integrated with public video cameras it can be a game changer.

If integrated with public video cameras it can be a game changer.

I couldn't agree more.

Equipped with several advantages to using FacePRO, namely:
Face images detected by the camera are stored, and can be searched later.

  • By searching for DB faces, you can display the results of each camera in chronological order and find the locus of the movement of people.
  • Specify the camera or date in the face image detected and display the results in a list in the order of similarity.

Thanks for your further description of the product.

Looks like the best facial recognition software I have ever been across. Just wondering about the complexity of the algorithm they used for it to have been able to function with such capacity. But then, this is technology. I will not be too surprised to see even a better Facial recognition software in the nearest future. This is quite an awesome hunt.

Duplicate comment.

It was a mistake. Changed it already

I wonder how? Is your comment really for this hunt?

My internet messed me up. That comment was meant for another hunt.

Great , I cannot believe that’s someone think about and create a think like that , very smart , super features and of course great job . Super hunter

Congratulations!

I think what concerns me about this technology -- I recently saw an article about it on 60 Minutes as well -- is that in the articles and the promo materials for this kind of technology, I notice that about one-sixth of the world's humans are vastly underrepresented both in shaping this technology and being used as models for what the human face looks like. As a woman of African descent I wonder and am concerned that I be recognized as human by all this new technology... recall that the question of Africans being fully human was unsettled for about 300 years in the modern world. It concerns me greatly that Africa and her children in the Diaspora seem to be missing in the discussion and the shaping of this very important technology and its algorithms. However, this article means that KNOWLEDGE of what is going on is at least available to me and others. Thank you for sharing this information; I will resteem it and share it elsewhere also.
