So, I work in sales. In sales we have to make forecasts. I'm making one now. Steemit will hit 2 million steemit accounts a little over a year from today.
How'd you get there Aggroed?
Ok, so if you look at Elyaque's most recent tracking post he does a nice job showing Steemians where we are at.
Here's teh post I'm taking this from: https://steemit.com/steemit/@elyaque/daily-steem-report-october-25th-steem-0-95usd-2552-new-accounts
Anyway, we're adding 2500 accounts today. That means if we keep up that exact same pace then 1 year from now we'll add 912k accounts. That will bring the total up to 1.3M as of 1 year from now. But here's teh thing. It won't go at that rate. It'll speed up because each person will bring a buddy, and they'll bring a buddy, and the growth rate will look exponential. So, there's the basis for my prediction. 2M accounts a little over a year from now. Should be fun.
I don't mean to tell you what to do... but I'm gonna hold onto my steem for a while still....
Risks
The major risk is this place stops working entirely. I have faith that won't happen. I think people will find some ways to make the steemit ecosystem less centralized by basically hosting more rpc nodes and more people will choose to run their own condenser. That'll make this place more resiliant and a little sexier as an investment choice.
The upside
We already do more transactions per second then just about any other block, and we're still only a year old. We're efficient and we have done 19 hardforks with no side chains. This program despite some of it's flaws it's pretty powerful. So, I don't know if we'll follow btc up to 6k/coin, but even if we're at 60 a few years from now we'll all be sitting pretty.
Eek this is so exciting! I can't wait for this platform to grow even bigger.
I'm pretty excited about it!
Couldn't agree more, took the words out of my mouth :)
Steem definitely has so much power! It can be used for some many other things aside from just a blogging platform. Arent't there other platforms using steem too? I'm also loving this new UI format. Improvements little by little.
There's the steem blockchain and then a bunch of different ways to access it. You've probably using steemit.com there's also busy.org, zappl, dtube, dsound, dMania to name a few. Some of those different websites cater to slightly different content for different communities. But, all backed by the Steem blockchain.
Another thing steem can do is it has a zero fees wallet. Yep. Zero fees and transactions happen in a few seconds.
Hello & Cheers!! I'm a content detection and information bot. You are receiving this reply because a short link or links have been detected in your post/comment. The purpose of this message is to inform your readers and yourself about the use of and dangers of short links.
To the readers of the post: Short links are provided by url shortening services. The short links they provide can be useful in some cases. Generally their use is benign. But as with all useful tools there are dangers. Short links can be used to hide all sorts of things. Quite frequently they are used to hide referral links for instance. While not dangerous this can be deceptive. They can also be used to hide dangerous links such as links to phishing sites, sites loaded with malware, scam sites, etc. You should always be extremely cautious before clicking on one. If you don't know and trust the poster don't click. Even if you do you should still be cautious and wary of any site you are sent to. It's always better to visit the site directly and not through a short link.
To the author of the post: While short links may be useful on some sites they are not needed on steemit. You can use markdown to format your links such as this link to steemit. It's as simple as
[steemit](https://steemit.com)
Unlike short links this allows the reader to see where they are going by simply hovering over the link before they click on it.Este articulo fue votado por @provenezuela

I think that's a reasonable estimate. It could be a lot more though if they can get the kinks worked out of the site and HF20 delivers on simplifying the onboarding process.
Personally, I'm not evangelizing until those issues are in the rearview. Once they are though, the gate is open because once it's easy for people to invite their friends and joining up is as simple as it is on any other site, this thing will take off real quick.
Wow this is great news for all of us!
This will make steemit grow fast and this is our advantage 😄
When there are so many users on this platform, the steem also rises its prices due to high demand. Thanks for this great news @aggroed
Wow this is great news for all of us!
I like your projections! Also, if we get some people in the media to adopt Steemit we could really see the numbers increase.
So glad i joined 3 days ago.. 😁😍
But that's because we are centralised, isn't it?
No, that's more about the architecture of the platform. The way it's designed is specifically to allow adaption without forking the chain. BTC can't do a minor change without 4 forks... this platform has done some pretty major overhauls and kept on kicking.
Ahh ok, cool, I understand.
The hardforks have to be accepted by the top witnesses to take hold. That's a degree of centralisation, but the witnesses are who we elect, so call it representative. While I don't like absolute concentration of power through centralisation, I also think being totally decentralised has other problems. So, being somewhat centralised with a representation model seems like a good compromise.
Actually, I think with the consistency of how many accounts are added per day, I think there is currently a hard cap set for the number of new accounts that can be created per day... That doesn't mean that accounts are not being requested at a higher rate, but simply that creation is limited.
Is that a limit set by Steem-Inc? Because my alts I created with anonsteem or steemconnect. HF20 should make that process easier and, when steem gets huge, certain steem-backed web properties will have a vested (hehehe) interest in helping out with account creation.
Very good question. I'm not sure if Steem-Inc sets a limit, or if the witnesses (blockchain) sets a limit, or what, but from my past reviews of account creation, it seemed very consistent in the number of new accounts that were created per day.
Exciting times! This growth potential in the userbase, coupled with developments in the platform and the ICOs through SMT, I am beginning to believe we are still early adapters having joined 3 months ago.
That does not surprise me. I know we are growing and there is plenty of room to grow. I am glad I was smart enough to get in last May. Wish I would have done it sooner. Thanks for a good read and good news my friend!

By doing hard work with consistency can achieve every type of target. its your special post.
Bigger radio shows, more people seein my pics, more creators getting recognized. I don't mind some more neighbors aha
Yay! Steemit is the new gold. I can't wait to see steemit ride to the top than it has already gone. There are lots of potentiality embedded here .
It looks like a bright future, thanks for sharing and hope it will be so!
2 million is a big milestone, and if that happens it will mean steem will have one of the biggest usage in the crypto world and thus it will be stable and more wide spread, cant wait for that day
Absolutely my friend. We are STEEMING to the moon. Its no longer news that they just changed up the UI. Which is pretty amazing and faster.
One thing I want to point out is that any platform that has built a wonderful community around it just like Steemit can never go wrong. This is the future of social media.
In case you will like to see it, I also published a similiar article:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@nairadaddy/steemit-just-changed-their-user-interface-it-s-now-similar-to-busy-org
Would be great if it was 2 million unique users not accounts :)
Is it really this easy? I don't think so to attract a wider audience all the different steem interfaces need to improve in simplicity and focus more on easy content consumption than only on rewarding creation.
Getting your tailored news feeds on Twitter and Facebook is still a lot easier. Steem won't automatically growth just because we want it.
Hello @agroed
Yeah steemit is happening and it is like wild fire in spreading. Another area of concern is how to get the newbies work read. A lot are discouraged because their work is swallowed even before they are published not to talk of getting upvotes.
I am happy and always excited about Steemit.
@aggroed I believe adding more people to the platform is a good thing, but we need them to be active which is how they can add more value to the Steem ecosystem.
I believe @zappl can achieve that as most people don't like to write blog like content, I think a 240 character will make it easy for them to come on board.
What do you think?
"So, I don't know if we'll follow btc up to 6k/coin, but even if we're at 60 a few years from now we'll all be sitting pretty."
I'm happy at 50, ha!
I'm also thinking that Steemit could have that kind of reach, or more by the end of next year. I am not sure what are the technical challenges behind on-boarding that many new users but in another year it should be quite possible to achieve I guess, with the kind of resources available to develop the platform, improve the interface, and scale it. With P2P marketing and perhaps some guerrilla marketing, 2 million users seems within reach. Been actually working on accumulating some Steem whenever it went under $1...
Go steemit. By 2018 steemit will surpass 2million users.
our country peoples like steem and make id b
very fast ... after some months there is a huge no. of steem id from my country
Çok hızlı büyüdüğü kesin
I've always heard from several authors that Steemit is the most powerful and legitimate platform for talented people. During my one week stay, I realized how extraordinary is Steemit because of those unfamiliar procedures I went through. I wish Steemit will exist for many years like Facebook and I wish for the success of Steemit CEO and developers. I wish Steemit will lift up like Facebook who welcomes their 2 billion users monthly.

I hope so, but everytime we have issues like this it sets back that exponential growth. If we're trying to attract the "next generation" they won't stick around long on a platform having these kind of issues with better functioning sites like facebook and twitter.
I'm hopeful, but with each passing day a little less so.
Not really sure about the Steem in 60$, but it is possible, of course.
thanks to you!
That made me think of my 12 year old son & that I would like to leave this account to him and what will be there in future:-)
