I understand the sentiment. My step children can only have supervised access to the Internet until they are 16. That being said, I believe you can find a middle ground for your son to start his Steemit journey but not be exposed to some more adult content or anything like that. Here is what my husband and I plan to approach it with the kids once they are 13 and can join social media and such, if they want to join Steemit. We would likely allow them to create an account, but would have them be on the site using a computer that is in the living room, so that we can see the content they are looking at and they would be allowed to use the site with us nearby. It is not ultimate supervision, since Steemit is a much safer place than Facebook. It will allow them to use the site freely and as creatively as they would like, but at the same time give reassurance to my husband and me. It's something that could potentially work for you too.
