Thing is - people only THINK steemit is some decentralized platform that's all about real people. We can follow whoever we want, and create that reality for sure, but the creators and major stakeholders of Steem care about profits. They just want sign ups - authenticity...well that's a bonus, and an ideal a certain segment of the Steemit community has created (I like to think I'm part of that group, the authenticity fans).
People want entertainment too - but most of all they want money.
What happens if Ms sweet J is exposed? Do you think he/she/them will lose even 100 followers ? Probably not. The fact is she/he/them are skilled marketers - using pics of an incredibly beautiful young girl with a life most of us dream of - to fill some void.
Though (I'm just gonna go with her from now on for simplicity's sake lol) she's a good writer - I've read a few posts - I guarantee at good 75% of her male (and some female) followers are not there for her words.
