Awesome! Glad you enjoy these. It’s really one of my favorite videos to do bc I get to communicate directly with you guys. 😁
Great! I really like that. Your enthusiasm definitely shows in your videos. I can you are being very genuine!
You hit the nail on the head when you were answering @afm007 's comment.
The example of Facebook ads vs Steemit bots....This is the major point I think people that are against upvote bots might not consider....We don't get anything back from advertising in Facebook!
Of course if you are selling something it MIGHT convert if your marketing is on point...But no guarantee.
With an upvote bot (with how they are currently set up) you get something back while it may not be a big return...Heck you might even make a profit, but you get VISIBILITY and attention to your post.
Plus the SP at the end of the week...
That's why I love them!
Exactly, there’s never been an advertising network as powerful as this. I’m really amazed that more big content creators like Gary Vee haven’t made their way here yet. It’s a matter of time.
Good question....He's pretty invested in the centralized platforms for spreading his message but he always talks about coming to new platforms and giving them a try....Curious to why he hasn't been active here.
People love you, Brandon:) Great and informative post.
But would you really get more SP from botting versus just transferring it to steem and then powering up? I don't think so. It's a gamble isn't it. Am I missing something? I think advantages that comes from botting is a higher rep score ... which kind of takes the value out of rep scores and if you spend enough getting on the trending page. Investing in bid bots will of course bring you some value.
I would like to add a third camp to the bid-bot debate ... some are for it and some are against it and some of us just want to see a better balance struck with the influence that bid-bots have on the platform versus the power more 'organic' users have. Some of us just think the balance is off and a little more power needs to be given to the ground forces, so to speak. You do this with minnow fund, but I do think the changes need to be more systematic. We don't want to chase off big investors but we absolutely don't want to discourage everyday users. We want to keep eyes on the platform and grow the platform. Steemit is a great place but it can be even better:):):)
Wishing you a wonderful weekend.
Thanks @prydefoltz 😊
And you’re right. It really depends on what bot you’re using and the current bidding round. I now only use about 4 or 5 bots. One has so much SP that it’s almost always a positive ROI. So it just depends on which ones you use.
And to your other point, I believe what you’re referring to is just the way the platform is setup. It’s not really a bid bot issue. What I love about bid bots is that they’re a tool that anyone can utilize. Prior to bots you had to know a whale who was willing to sell their vote, build their trust, and pay them behind the scenes. Now it’s available to all and super transparent. Plus, some bit owners are using their earnings for initiatives like you mentioned.
But I’m with you when it comes to helping new users gain momentum faster. I believe @ned hinted to some ideas (and changes) that might be coming in the future on his last post. I’ll have to dig that up and look over it again.
Yeah ... I always figured that vote-buying would go on off-platform if not for bid-bots and so there is not point in banning them ... but another front and for future episode ideas ... do you know about click farms and how they have been linked to FB and post boosting and are you are aware of the burn off level for upvotes on steemit. A comment or post that earns below a certain payoff ... receives no payout. I think more people need to be made aware of that:)
Hey @brandonfrye Loving the awesome work you are doing on Steemit all-round... that's why I have just doubled my SP delebation to OUR bot : )
Nice!! And you’re right; it’s OUR bot 😊
Glad to have your support for @minnowfund and look forward to sending you double the payments!
Great to see a community leader catching up with all comments. Not all that post engage with all the comments as you do. Great job!
I think you should start with Live Q&A, it will be much convenience....
I do really love the Steem platform, but I am more excited to see what Dan does with it when EOS launches.
The rumor mill is grinding away, I just hope they do take a snapshot of the steem blockchain and migrate balances over to any new platform they might launch otherwise there will be a lot of seriously unhappy people
I have a question. The upper bound for the bid-vote you run is 10%. What do you do with the voting power when it is not covered by the bids? This last round, the bot did not get any bids. I was looking for a bot to bid, and I did not choose yours because of the 10% upper limit when there are better options.
Hey @capatazche, great questions. But I think you're misunderstanding how the bots function. The software automatically calculates how much upvote you should get to give you a 10% ROI... unless the voting round is full and then it could go as low as -10% ROI.
But let's say I receive only one bid for .50 SBD. Obviously this person shouldn't get an upvote worth $12 and set the next round back 2.4 hours (this is why the max is set; to protect my delegators). But I also don't want people to spend too much on their upvote, which is why the -10% is set. But if the round doesn't fill up then my account doesn't upvote its full 100% so the rounds go by quicker.
Anyways, you should really want to use a bot that has these parameters set. Typically if they don't have a max, then they don't have a minimum ROI either. Which means they don't care if you overspend on their upvote. Also, keep in mind that with my bot you're getting so much more than an upvote. My account has a 62 reputation which most bots don't have. So for .10 SBD or higher you can increase your own reputation by using my service. But that should just be seen as icing on the cake. :)
I see, so if the round is not full, then the next just happens sooner. That answers my question. Thank you. Regarding the upper and lower bounds, I like playing with that risk. Therefore I actually see that as something positive.
