While there's tremendous intrinsic value in effort for effort's sake, it's also great to be recognized for your contributions every now and then. And I was pleasantly surprised when Dana Blankenhorn, a renowned financial contributor to InvestorPlace and multiple other mainstream sources, gave me a shout-out!

His article, "What the Failure of Snap Inc (SNAP) Stock Means for Other Unicorns," was redistributed by Yahoo Finance, and had strong traffic moving towards it. That was very fortunate on my part because he mentioned me, and cited my own InvestorPlace article on Snap Inc.

The other cool aspect of it was that I had briefly discussed the Steemit network on my piece. Essentially, my argument was that Snapchat is no different from the plethora of other social media platforms. They would face substantial pressure from the likes of Facebook or Twitter, and the problem here is that FB is already eating Snap's lunch.

But the longer-term threat is Steemit and similar blockchain applications.

I've said this multiple times before but why would anybody invest hours of their day posting stuff for free when they could apply their efforts for financial rewards?

So whether it's "traditional" competition, or the up-and-coming blockchain rivals, Snapchat is in for a world of hurt. That's a boost for Steemit, and really, for all of us that are already plugged into this burgeoning network!
